Judging by the comments thus far, murder and mutilation of war prisoners is the new American value and splendid entertainment. The film is actually just another low in the constant stream of hate propaganda against Germany -- 65 years after the end of the war! Such Judaic glorification of cruelty and revenge is diametrically opposed to Christian values of love of one's enemies and forgiveness.

I guess ww2 was probably the only war with a clear universal enemy.....you've got the decepticons, the Legion of Doom, Cobra, the dark side of the force, etc. All are 'bad guys' that are quick to draw an audience, but the Nazis are the only ones that were real, and since they were only in WW2, I guess Hollywood capitalized on that.....I'm sure the 3rd Reich never thought that 60+ yrs after its fall, the media would immortalize it...lol
