Either way he was more secluded and not as out-going as he grew and that's something people back then could've seen.

Michael always had the most mesmerizing smile and even though he felt that he was shy he was so charming. I felt that S. Chase made judgmental statements about his voice and that he was still residing with his parents. Michael was not a 21 y.o. man residing in a depressing basement. He was residing in a mansion, surrounded by everything he adored. MJJ was blessed by God.

Did u see that white glove he's wearing? Everybody stay that Michael wore that glove for the first time at the Motown 25 special. But around 6:18 of this interveiw and you can see clearly that maybe on the Destiny tour was the first time he wore the white glove on stage.
I so love this inteview, I always come to see it every once in a while and cheers me up, makes me feel happy and thankful for this beautiful man and that I had a chance to see him on stage.

The magic of Michael Jackson was actually quite simple. He was just being himself. You can tell when people are being fake. It just shines right through. I think the reason MJ was so private was because he was so honest. He knew people would prey upon his honesty.

Thank you for posting this interview of our beloved Mr. Michael Joseph Jackson being interviewed by Sylvia Chase in 1980. Michael always had the most mesmerizing smile and even though he felt that he was shy he was so charming. I felt that S. Chase made judgmental statements about his voice and that he was still residing with his parents. Michael was not a 21 y.o. man residing in a depressing basement. He was residing in a mansion, surrounded by everything he adored. MJJ was blessed by God.

According the Google Timeline, the show (20/20 with this interview) was REPEATED on June 26, 1980. Still looking for the original air date, it could have well been first shown in 1980, just taped in 1979. thank you for posting the interview!

& Yes, i agree. This interview was definitely filmed in 1979, and I was told that it originally aired in January of 1980. It really dosen't matter to me what year it's from exactly, it's not like I'm saying it's from 1980 & others are saying it's from 1976. lol. it's a two month time frame that happens to cross over into another year; December 1979 or January 1980.

@toofargone68 I originally had the year 1979 in the title when I first uploaded this video. I already knew that this interview was definitely FILMED in 1979, I just wasn't sure if it AIRED in the same year. While I was looking for the original air date, every source listed stated that it was either: "early 1980", or "January 1980". So, I reluctantly changed the year. I should've left it the way I originally had it. lol. It's fine, though. I will change it back. & thank you for your input. :)

@toofargone68 I agree, I remember being able to stay up and see the interview. We saw the Jacksons the fall of 79 in Rochester, NY. This concert kicked ass!!!I was only 7 years old at the time and this show left such an impression on me.
