@syphonia246 bigamy is a legal term, referring to the marrying of one person when you're in fact legally married to someone else. It's a fraud issue, concerned only with people pretending to be legally married to someone and in most cases deceiving one or both spouses. Like Dudley Moore in that movie, "Mickie and Maude."

Polygamy in it's self isn't creepy to me, the religion behind it is. I do not agree w/ 'the joy book' , or kids being made to marry older men.. However, the idea of plural marriage isn't creepy. As long as the religion side is left out of the picture.

I avoided watching this show until now because of the creep polygamy subject. But it is so well written and entertaining that grew to LOVE the show. I do still cringe a little, but it's so funny. Inadvertently I've learned more about LDS (outside of what's on the show) and gained new respect for some of the principles of the REAL LDS church. Polygamy is sexist and degrading to women and completely unnecessary in modern society. It smacks of at least two of the seven deadly sins.

since you expect your wives to share YOU, would you ever agree to share THEM? What if they wanted two men in their lives, the same way you have two women in your lives?

Would you deny it?

Polygamy is only fair if you share your wives as equally as they share you. Otherwise, it is absolutely selfish to stick with one.

that's because mormons are not polygamists anymore. people who are polygamists are those who have broken off from the mormon church and created their own modified version of it. if a mormon (of the real LDS church) was involved in polygamy they would be excommunicated.
