  • Watch "The Obama Deception" in HQ! This is the truth about Obama that you must know!

  • hey if we are pumping money into the military, why not education?

  • Obama waz staring at stephiny.

  • I have Attempted to contact the Department of Education on numerous times in the past six months regards to 25 years of Research that Reduces Violence in Schools by 80% and also boosts productivity at the same time

They do NOT call back or even care, I guess they already have the problem solved!

Maybe if I had Millions $ to donate they'd return my call?

All of this talk about bringing everyone's ideas together to help the cause is just a lot of BS

The Federal Education Department is a Joke!!

  • they're probably busy and don't want to waste time answering people who are unimportant or who cannot contribute to their completion of their goals.

  • Just drown out the crap with other music.... lol it works... im not saying its crap...

  • crap sound quality

  • Blah, blah, blah. You're acting like the fvcking PUPPET of Goldman Sachs, AIG et al. Who gives a ROYAL SHIT about your bullshit 'higher education'?

  • I do.

  • obama looks high you smokin bro?

  • lol

  • im not even joking hes gotta be smoking does this job require drug screening

  • obama it the best thing that has happen to de USA One of the best Presidentss

  • agree!! :)

  • you only say that because hes black and your black.

  • I plan on using your program that you are talking about. Thanks again.

  • It would be interesting if you can do me a lil favor by trying to solve the mysteries associated with christian doctrination of 1 in 3. It is still hard for me to understand why your god is executed by few men, yet he is still your salvation and u reply on him for your heaven. May be 'converts to islam' in youtube may help you answer the questions...since the Quran talks much better on Jesus (peace be upon him) and Mary, John etc. Pls also contrast God's words, Jesus words, others in Bible.

  • The government is responsible for how it spends tax dollars. Some programs can be outsourced effectively, while others can't or may prove to be ineffective after a trial. If it doesn't work, change it, that's what Obama promised and that's what he's doing. After 8 years of Bush American education, health care, employment and reputation are in tatters ... Obama is putting Humpty back together again and it blows my mind how people keep tearing him down.

  • Thank you Mr. President.

  • Thank you Mr. President for investing in our children and our future!

  • This is great!

  • That is right! Nice job Obama! I believe!

  • Woo hoo!!! Obama-nating it up! :)

    I'm stoked!

    Thank you Mr. President.

  • Oh spare me, you republican. You voted for McCain, you faggot.

  • Whatever the government subsidizes, then that thing's costs go up. College is going highly because of this. And now we get to pay for everyone's college and mortgage. Change that I didn't vote for.

  • You clearly didn't watch the video or you have no idea what the nuances of this legislation details with regards to his presentation. Also, this wont pay for "everyone's" tuition.

How exactly does cutting out the middle man in subsidized college loans and then using the saving to pay 95% toward the expansion of an already existing program increase taxes to the point of affordability?

  • Studying social justice? Makes sense. Obama wants to spread the wealth. Basically the government will pay for everyone to go to college to be good government subjects. You see, college is now a right, not a privilege.

  • College IS a right...NOT a privilege

  • wrong. higher education is not a right. If it were a right then the government would have to pay for it completely. Thats wrong. Why? It then becomes a transfer of wealth from poor people to upper class and rich people. Govt paying all or the majority of college costs would mean higher taxes, many of which would come from people without the need or desire to complete a college education. College is not a right, it is a good/service that should be mainly paid for by people who seek it.

  • Let's look at your logic more closely. If something is not a right simply because the government does not enforce or assist all the way, then something like gun ownership would not be a right. If gun ownership were a right, you wouldn't have to register it.

Hey, I'm just following your logic. I'm not suggesting that higher education is or is not a right, I'm simply criticizing your reasoning.

  • ilovemycat00 is definitely NOT college material. Doesn't understand the basic differences between rights and privileges. Exactly the kind of people that shouldn't have government pay for them to go. Keep flipping hamburgers.....

  • Just for the record, I DID go to college and get educated....which is more than I can say for you.

  • got?

  • college is not a right. The constitution says nothing about college being a right of the people.

  • but people need college to be suscessful

  • it's not a right, but it is definitely something to strive for, and it's in the best interest of advancing our society.

  • Irrelevant. The constitution does not explicitly or implicitly state that the government cannot help mobilize as it is now. Think of this as an investment in the country with the best intentions for everyone.

  • Gov. is heavily taxing everyone for K-12

70+% K-12 graduation rate, of those 90% want to go, only about 70% actually go. Thats only 50% that attend a 2-4yr college out of K-12, with about 1/2 of those actually qualified. The brick and mortar education system as a whole is a joke, does not serve the public adequately, and is far too costly. K-12 is basically publicly funded daycare.

  • How many times a school year do you actually directly participate in class, answer a question, etc.? In college courses? Few and far between. So what are you actually getting out of it? A lecture for all intents and purposes, something that you could do without paying $15k to $60+K a year to do. The investment should go to grades 9-12 and 4 year college course by making them available online. Thats 100% availability to the public at a minute fraction of the costs.

  • As limited as this proposal is, I am extremely impressed with Obama's explanation and his explicit language regarding how the banking lobby will be fighting this and his willingness to take them on publically. Quite refreshing when compared against the Bush/Cheney freak-show.

  • Meanwhile the DC voucher program goes in the trashbin.

  • I wish obama would be transparent and de-clasiffy his college records and birth certificate instead of spending millions on lawyers to keep these docs sealed. I am tired of people accusing him of covering up his true identity.

  • Three points on the suggestion to have fewer international students.

International students enrich the academic environment and thus contribute to American Education system. If you havent noticed, ask the nearest International student for his/her SAT/GRE/GMAT/USMLE score.

International student pay more for than domestic student and thus subsidize American students.

Obama's dad came as a student from Keniya. He gave the US what looks like to me the best president for the past 2 decades.

  • god be with you mr president

  • It occurred to me that Obama is a teacher. He has this way of explaining things point by point in great detail that reminds me of a college professor. I guess that's because my father was a college professor and really, both sides of my family were teachers, some in one room school houses.

Obama's family have a strong teaching background, didn't it?

Anyway, Bush was called "the decider", maybe Obama will be either "the professor" or "the teacher".

  • dude... does barack have twitter?

  • if US stops other kids from coming in here solely for education and just provide all its resources to the kids in America so they can achieve and keep America up Top for future...would it be as bad??

i mean i know it sounds bad but the reason india and china and many other 3rd world countries are growing is because they studied here...you know what im trying to say?

please respond to this i wanna get different prospective on this

  • I kinda get your point on that one, but if we don't help other countries, we'll gain a lot of haters, you know what i mean?

  • Well it is one face of the coin.

Most of the times they come with awesome educational records and get scholarships.

Nearly all of the really top graduates never go back to their home countries.

They stay and try to get residency to become active part of society.

  • make college free

  • I'M Going back to college with student lands to be a Traffic signal technician very soon YAY

  • barack obama will go down has the best president ever*******

  • Whoever is writing the subtitles should get a higher education or at least use spell check. Or perhaps it is just Teleprompter doing his job.

  • now this is safely said something we in the Netherlands can do as well....because the money students get from the government is just a laugh, they CANNOT pay the schools. Here it is either get a BIG loan or its only the rich who are able to study, Mr. Balkenende, LISTEN to mr. Obama here, and LEARN!!!!!

  • nice!

  • wow threats! we are scared....dude your ex prez gave it to the middle east...

  • 2xtream I am an Obama supporter and usually try not to get involved in comment fights but did you see Bush do anything to prevent tax loopholes? If you are so eager to get Obama removed just remember nobody tried to impeach Bush but the Republicans impeached Clinton for lying about having an affair when they should have been focused on people who wanted to hurt innocent Americans.

  • ncstatester: Why is it when anyone says anything against president (Avatar) they always say well what about Bush? Why didn't we say anything about him.. HERE is the problem. I did not vote for Bush or Clinton or Obama, Ron Paul was the only correct vote but that is my opinion. But what I am pointing out is not that I'm a Dem or Rep. What I am trying to point out is. IT DOES NOT MATTER WHO is the President. THEY all work for the NWO and nothing more then puppets. Hence the name of AVATER !

  • The closed captioning for this video is a horrible embarrassment to our government and one hell of an ironic endorsement for the reform of our country's education systems. Whoever wrote the closed captioning should be FIRED. This is OUR GOVERNMENT!!! Such stupidity will not do, even if it's just on a youtube video. I can't believe that on the official channel of the White House would be a video filled with spelling errors and improperly transcribed words. Come on. Do better than that.

  • Smart move. :)

  • Mr. President, maybe you should have a chat with the Colorado Gov't whom are cutting $300 million in higher education and making university unaffordable for many here this year.

  • Great work!

  • Finally! If you want to boost the economy, invest in education. It's too bad that I graduate soon and won't really be helped by any of this. We've needed drastic education reform for decades and no one has stepped up. I'm glad that he's actually fighting lobbyists on this issue. He's set it up in such a way that anyone who votes against it will be seen as holding the position of "I don't think education is important". And I doubt many will see that as a smart career move. Well done, Obama.

  • Nice speech Mr. President, better that your weekly addresses.

  • Wow, nice going, looks like Obama really isn't scared of lobbyists after all

  • This is a brilliant change. For those who are in college, or about to go (or go back,) this is a huge improvement over the current student loan situation. Those who have been providing loans prey on the fact that their borrowers are young, naive, and inexperienced about loans in general.

  • she toke years practicing that essay and she is real nerves

  • Stephanie's speech was awsome

  • Awesome!

  • great idea about taking out the middleman as far as the banks go. the way it should be

  • whitehouse must be cool to visit?

  • hUM! GOOD QUESTION
