When I was automotive school, 1 of my instructors explained why tire measurements are so complicated. Basic story: Long ago, a tire engineer caught a mechanic in bed with his love, the engineers revenge was this tire measuring system that involves unnecessary math & conversation between the perfect metric & BROKEN imperial measuring systems to make finding replacement or upgrade harder for the mechanic & the rest of us.
