@Dan81369 make that nine because it is a ripoff for such a simply designed machine. I bet honda could make a bicycle and completely destroy the competition in terms of innovation and technology and price.
TREK RULESSSSSSSSSSSS FUCKKKK AND I WANT AN HARDTAIL NOT A FUCKIN FULL SUSPENSION YESSSSSSSSSSS TREK = QUALITY ILL GET THE TREK 8000 FOR 2300$ AND UPDATE FOR 1000$ WITH SHIMANO XTR
Those colours aren't to hot tbh. Even tho I'm a Trek fan on the whole (not so keen on the Bontrager bits tho) I have to say that Ghost are making some of the best and sexiest looking mtbs out there at the mo'. Punch 'Ghost mtb' into google and you'll see what I mean. What's more they're NOT available in the States.. so us Europeans get to keep them all to ourselves. When I upgrade my Fuel 6.5 I'll be getting a FS Ghost for sure. They fit the best parts as standard.
I think it's fair for me to say that you don't really have a clue what you're talking about. They're hand built in Germany. How can you justify using the word "shitty" to describe a range of bikes that have better parts, as standard, than Trek do?
Almost every part fitted to a Ghost is of a higher spec' than a similar priced Trek. £ for £ (or $ for $) you get WAY more for your money with a Ghost. Trek charge a high premium then give their customers shitty Bontrager parts.
@ShillBasher I've never heard of nor seen them. Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about but they must be kept out of the US for a reason... Your probably right, they are good quality and not "shitty" . It's probably the lack of funds that's keeping them out of the US because marketing to one set of countries is a very dumb marketing technique. They would make a lot more money if they marketed towards other countries.
just bought a trek fuel ex 8 after having a merlin ht for years. The Trek is amazing! Super light, flies up hills and floats across the rough, 5 star bike!
@kylekhop it is fragile, on the road when you crash a carbon it shatters when you crash aluminum it just bends, carbon is just too brittle (though very cool looking) carbon and boron are road materials I'd be afraid to use them mountain biking
@theAntilli oh god don't even mention that fork the real scary thing is that some manufacturers are making carbon wheelsets and carbon master cylinders for hydraulic brakes for DH use
@finnrambo1 yeah, these bike manufacturers should definitely take the psychological aspect in to concern. Imagine you can't trust components your life depends on... I wouldn't mind carbon-ceramic brakes though :-)
huh? "....so customers feel better about coming into carbon..." ? who wouldnt want carbon fiber? its one of the lightest strongest materials known to man
@octoberguitaru2 I think a lot of people have the impression that it is fragile. Even though carbon frames are stronger and more durable than aluminum.
I have a 2010 ex 9, after riding a 10 yr old 9 speed hard tail. It took 5 rides or so to get used to the whole DS thing, but I love the bike, it plows through everything, while still nimble. By the way Mtbr, its SRAM not ShRAM

@GuinnessGaz Im pretty sure the frames come with a lifetime warranty so it wouldn't be an issue.. at least thats how it works in australia.. if the frame breaks you get a brand new one.

@finnrambo1 i get your point but:
1. you can get the FUELex without carbon
2. trek claims to use some carbon tech that makes it tougher than aluminium.

@theAntilli idk I'm just afraid to see caron dh bikes on xc bikes it looks like its worth a try

@finnrambo1 I fully understand. personally I feel uneasy riding a carbon frame. just like that weird Lefty fork by Cannondale. It just isn't right.

Does the carbon armour added to 2011 frames mean that pre 2011 are not safe?
I would love to see how their modifications would stand up in a court of law if anything was to happen to a pre 2011 carbon frame.
