  • This guy has no business wearing an Angus Young shirt. Get a Green Day shirt dude.

  • he hits 5 very wierdly every single time.

  • @CountLorcean I think it's just his accent

  • annnddd

  • This is a very beginner lesson that is about singing with a light tough and developing the musical ear for those that don't have a musical background. For some actual vocal technique check out the newer examples by Breck Alan here on youtube.

  • check out the newer Breck Alan insructional videos here on You Tube. They make a lot more sense than this one. This one is pretty out of context and unless you get a bit of a set up for what this is about, it's hard to understand why it's such a functional bit of info. It is however, a very functional bit of info.

  • The thing with singing is that you need to create a light touch before moving on to the heavy lifting. That's what's going on in this little snippet. Singing is connecting the dots. And once this is easy for you (which isn't for a lot of beginners) then move on to the more difficult stuff.

  • I like singing instruction to be in context to singing. So even singing really lightly like this is still singing. That's important to get across to singers early on, and for those that have done some singing but are still really out of sync with their voices.

  • This is a building block technique. It's kind of hard to come into the middle. But if you have patience you might actually learn something.

  • i wanna punch this guyin the face

  • can u believe this guy has written books about vocal technique. not even a book.... BOOKS! those poor folk who baught it with out knowing any better!

  • hahaha...hahaha...i enjoyed watching him...lol

    AND

  • And...

  • I have been using this dvd to learn to sing-The instruction is very good-I am not!I need alot of work:)

  • yes

  • whatta odd dude

  • yeah he is a dork., that sall, so what its my boyfriend.

  • Breckalan:

is there anyway you can post clips of your other vocal dvds for the heavy rock?

  • lol, he reminds me of dora the explorer

    hahaha.

  • haha, fuck yeah.

  • I understand technique is important in music and singing.

But what about a school that can teach how to pick a good tune to sing amongst terrible ones?

I listen to a lot of singers nowadays, very talented technically, but then they are singing terrible bad songs... almost tuneless. So, what's the point of killing a good powerful instrument like a good voice with crappy music around? :)

  • depend on what u like

  • AMerican Idol has convinced the world that songs are bad, but not singers. It is silly.

  • Great beginning lesson and a good exercise! I need a good vocal DVD. Is this available?

  • The Rock House Method Lead Singer Series DVDs are available at many music stores nation wide (if they don't have them ask them to get them). They are also available through Musician's Friend and at the Bodysinging website.

  • i want to learn to sing like sebastian bach and jeff scott soto and dio.

  • Breck Alan is great!

  • can you show me how to be able to go higher in rock songs, sometimes when im singing stuff like nickelback theres notes that i cant reach, but i almost can, my voice would just give out before the songs finished

  • HI Clayton, YES!!!! this program definitely teaches you how to go higher and higher in your singing range and develop tons of vocal power without strain. Do yourself a favor and start with Level 1 as it will help you get comfortable and fluid with your voice and lead you into the big stuff on Level 2. Have fun.

  • Great ! ;D

  • That did'nt help that much... does somebody know how i can get my voice like more death metal, when im singing?

  • We also have a Vocal Techniques program for Heavey Rock to metal DVD. I will post some samples in a few days.

  • It would be harmful to start at the more difficult techniques before teaching the individual steps that will lead up to those techniques. To successfully and healthily learn to sing any ambitious singing style (which includes metal/scream voice as well as powerful belting styles) first learn the true fundamentals and see how much time that will actually save you. Otherwise you might be fighting your voice rather than finding it. Good luck and have fun, Breck ALan
