This is a very beginner lesson that is about singing with a light tough and developing the musical ear for those that don't have a musical background. For some actual vocal technique check out the newer examples by Breck Alan here on youtube.
check out the newer Breck Alan insructional videos here on You Tube. They make a lot more sense than this one. This one is pretty out of context and unless you get a bit of a set up for what this is about, it's hard to understand why it's such a functional bit of info. It is however, a very functional bit of info.
The thing with singing is that you need to create a light touch before moving on to the heavy lifting. That's what's going on in this little snippet. Singing is connecting the dots. And once this is easy for you (which isn't for a lot of beginners) then move on to the more difficult stuff.
I like singing instruction to be in context to singing. So even singing really lightly like this is still singing. That's important to get across to singers early on, and for those that have done some singing but are still really out of sync with their voices.
Uhhh, AND, did anyone notice that Breck couldn't find the pitch on the first modulation...AND...that alone kept me from buying the video on Amazon.....AND....
I understand technique is important in music and singing.
But what about a school that can teach how to pick a good tune to sing amongst terrible ones?
I listen to a lot of singers nowadays, very talented technically, but then they are singing terrible bad songs... almost tuneless. So, what's the point of killing a good powerful instrument like a good voice with crappy music around? :)
The Rock House Method Lead Singer Series DVDs are available at many music stores nation wide (if they don't have them ask them to get them). They are also available through Musician's Friend and at the Bodysinging website.

can you show me how to be able to go higher in rock songs, sometimes when im singing stuff like nickelback theres notes that i cant reach, but i almost can, my voice would just give out before the songs finished
HI Clayton, YES!!!! this program definitely teaches you how to go higher and higher in your singing range and develop tons of vocal power without strain. Do yourself a favor and start with Level 1 as it will help you get comfortable and fluid with your voice and lead you into the big stuff on Level 2. Have fun.
It would be harmful to start at the more difficult techniques before teaching the individual steps that will lead up to those techniques. To successfully and healthily learn to sing any ambitious singing style (which includes metal/scream voice as well as powerful belting styles) first learn the true fundamentals and see how much time that will actually save you. Otherwise you might be fighting your voice rather than finding it. Good luck and have fun, Breck ALan
This guy has no business wearing an Angus Young shirt. Get a Green Day shirt dude.

This is a building block technique. It's kind of hard to come into the middle. But if you have patience you might actually learn something.
