Hey I am a huge husker fan here and I would like to join in on this convo. I'm not going to lie VT was definately the better team last year. That and they caught us on a not so good day also. I think next year's game in Blackburg is going to be a good one if Nebraska brings it. If they don't it's not going to be a good deal. Pelini just has to get everybody on the same page with his offense and defense at all times.
Reason 3: Neb secondary will not improve as much as VT's Wide Receivers will. They were all Freshman this year. NU had some experience in the secondary.

He wasn't even the best player in our backfield (Frazier and Green). My point is that without the felons, your program would be worth even less than it is now. Reason 3: Neb secondary will not improve as much as VT's Wide Receivers will. They were all Freshman this year. NU had some experience in the secondary.
Reason 4: That is true, but it is hardly relevant. He is strictly responsible for defensive personnel and schemes. He could not stop a very poor VT Offense last year at home. Now he is on the road.
Reason 5: VT's defense will be BETTER next year. Also, the game is at Lane where the D thrives.

I mean Nebraska has a young team with a lot of talent. You guys are a great ACC team, but you didn't really play any tough games last year so its hard to tell how good you measure up against top competition. You will probably beat us because of how young we are, but in a couple of years I think we will have the better team.

VT was the youngest team in the country last year and won a BCS bowl game. Reasons why I cannot see Nebraska winning at Lane this year:
1) VT beat Nebraska last year in Lincoln, when they were not a very mature football team.
2) VT was younger last year than Nebraska (By a lot) and return many more starters and backups who got playing time.
3) The game is at Lane stadium was is considered by almost every publication as one of the top 5 toughest places to play.

Yeah but Nebraska actually has a lot more talent than they did last year. We redshirted 23 of 25 players from a top 25 recruiting class last year, and although we have to replace at QB, we return a lot of talent on defense and running back. We had a bigger/higher ranked recruiting class last year and more of them did not play then NU had. VT is younger and better period. The only schools that RIval Lane Stadium in noise are: LSU, Florida, Alabama, and Clemson.

The ACC is closing the gap every year and will easily surpass the big 12, probably in 2 years. I just went to 7 random stadium rankings and VT was ahead of Nebraska on all of them. Google- Loudest college football stadiums. Just in the first 5 entries that had any merit, VT was 1st on 3 of them, and always ahead of Nebraska (who was not even listed on any of them) No one cares about NU football anymore.

Lawrence Phillips was a great player for us, no doubt. He wasn't, however, the face of our program. We don't have a hallwall in our athletic building that bears his name. He wasn't even the best player in our backfield (Frazier and Green). My point is that without the felons, your program would be worth even less than it is now. Without Phillips, we still would be five time national champions.

Reason 1. Ndamukong Suh and Barry Turner won't let Taylor breathe for a second.

Reason 3: Our secondary is vastly improved from last year.

Reason 1. Suh was a non-factor last year and VT will upgrade at the guard position with Brooks starting over Marshmen. Jason Worilds will be the best defensive lineman on the field, period. Who is Barry Turner? NU's defense made VT's offense (which was terrible at the time) look like world-beaters.
Reason 2: NU could not even resemble a running game last year at home. At lane, the noise will be absurd and it is very hard to run block when you can't hear the snap count.

I am a huge VT fan but Tyrod is alot of hype. He is not a quarterback, he can't throw, he has no vision missing opportunities on wide open receivers. If tech has any type of offensive line Sean Glennon would be playing for sure, but tech is young and they will be better in the coming years.

Personally I dob't like Tyrod, don't get me wrong he is very talented but I question his heart. In the ACC championship when Jamie Slyva took the ball out of his hands and he just jogged after slyva and let him run it into the endzone it surprises me he did not give an effort to catch him and save a TD. If Tyrod can work on reading D's he could be a great college QB,I just hope he left his boys in the hood and that he won't end up like the Vick's or Ike Whitaker.
