omg i have downloaded "babylon iz iraq" and now listen and listen to it. great fat sound even not like muslimgauze uses to make. and sounds very actual/ like modern electronic dubs. but... its a '96 year record. i cant believe... - thats the case when ambient sound can be such universal as breakbeat sound. looks good in any time. and this album is a very thin mix of Popular and Industrial visions of making sound. other music of MG isnt so easy to listen (expect of lofi india abuse)
@unclecaintoad in other hand his "tribal" drummings are very inventive and have a pure sound (hand of fatima). I like to listen to fast and hard breaks and his tribal music likes me much more than comm. dance breaks (lots of d'n'b). His "tribal shit" music can sounds perfect for all times because of pure and crystal sound instead of ambient works. cause every amb. sound have its own time. i listen to this music ("gun aramaic" my fav.) and can see that this music was made in second part of 90's.
It's funny you should mention Gun Aramaic. I've been thinking about uploading a track from that album. Maroon & GA are probably my two favorite releases by Bryn Jones. In fact, of the 20 or so Muslimgauze releases the I actually own. Most are from the mid to late 90s.
Oh, I'm not offended. I'd be the first person to tell you that not all his music is great. Much of it is even repetitive (i.e. - same song on 7 different albums with only a small difference). What I find so amazing though, is just how prolific he was. Much of his music that I like best has a lot of highs (dynamics). I'm not really interested in him just hitting a drum as fast & hard as he can. That's why I love this album. There's a lot going on there that my brain can be really happy about.
