In the later years, ABC discarded this intro, and simply put the CC icon on the upper-right side of your Television screen when a program was to begin...
No, actually it was earlier than that(it wasn't 1991 or 92, so I was wrong on that)., it had to be from the 80's, because I saw some promos from then, and it had that 2-D CC id.
There was an earlier version where the CC Icon, was in glowing orange, And the Message(same as this one) had zoomed away from the viewer, Not to mention it has different music as well. Anyways, 5/5!
@kargaroc386 You had to buy an external tuner/decoder to see captions in those days- you could get them through the Sears catalog. They were pretty bulky. In the 90s Zenith started including it in some of their TVs, then the FCC required all TVs to have them (reason being they included sound which not everyone could hear, so they should also include caption decoders.)

1986-1995: It was the gold/ruby 3-D closed captioned logo
1993-1996: Alternate Closed Caption logo was the 2D one seen on ABC promos.

You're right on the first one. But the second one(the 2D one) actually came out in 1991, not 1993.

September 1992, not 1991.

I was referring to the CC ID that appeared at the start of ABC network programs. The white, 2-D symbol was used there from September '92 onward.

So was I. I'm telling you though, the CC ID was used earlier than September of 1992.

Um, the music is cool and all... but what about the deaf folks that can't hear it... isn't that what closed captioning is for?

That music and fast-paced animation is kinda creepy, but it's cool anyway.
