Actually, what really happened... The part with Vince walking out entering the limo, was previously recorded footage. The moment he closes the door of the limo, the recorded footage cuts and we go live to the limo exploding. I know this because this episode was recorded at an arena in Wilkes-Barre, PA, which I live right down the road from. After the explosion, I went to my porch and saw a huge plume of smoke rising. I drove up there and saw the burning limo and tons of ppl tryin to take pics.

I knew this was scripted from the start. How the camera was focused on him as he left the building you just knew something was going to happen. I always wondered what the real plan was for this storyline. I kinda thought it might be Stephanie behind it and that she would take over the company and Vince would never appear on tv again. It seemed like it had the potential to be a major storyline and boost the ratings but then Vince reappeared after the Benoit incident and killed the storyline.
