I'm trying this and I can't view my PDFs. I add them to the Kobo easily and I can see them in the root right beside the Kobo User Guide (epub file). But when I view my eReader, the DOCUMENTS (as well as NEWS & MAGS) are not available to select. I performed a Factory Reset and updated the ereader, added my PDFs again, and still no luck. Kobo phone support was no help, any ideas?
@candude hmm...if you bought it new take it to the store and get them to show you. Or just go to the store with some PDF's on an SD card and ask them if you can try it out. You may have a defective unit if phone support couldn't help you out
@iRajiv Thanks, I kept trying to update and finally I got a message on the Kobo eReader that it was updating content. I can see them finally, not sure what the problem was initially - thanks.
Don't take it the wrong way. But if you are going to do a review of an equipment, wouldn't the use of a tripod be useful. Putting your equipment up and down, really lowers the value of your review.
@KayBeeMan1 I made a video because people asked for it, wasn't so concerned with quality at the time. If you look at my more recent videos I have started using a tripod and a better quality camera, but at the time this was shot it's all I had to work with. Thanks for the tip though :)
@iRajiv but what do you do and where do you ad them once the drive is added? i have a lot of pdf''s i'd like to add to my reader but can't figure out how to do so.
hey I have a large quantity of Dungeons and Dragons books (3.5) in PDF format have you already tryed these and if so do they turn out looking good? I'm considering a Kobo if they work thanks
@Panjial I haven't tried these. If you want you can send me a personal message and I'll give you my email address and you can email me one (or a sample of one) and I'll do a video showing how the Kobo renders them
@dannners yep its still fairly new. But no, besides the iPad I don't have any other hands on experiance with the nook and kindle. I've played around with the Sony Readers in store demos, but they have way too many buttons for my liking. Plus, with the Kobo you can buy books from the Boarders ebook store as well as the Sony's! Twice the books, twice the win
@itsmii73o Ive tried some, but they're tricky for reading. Also, you really don't want to be reading Manga's on a greyscale screen, it looses so much of the beauty
Hi can you help me please. I have a kobo and I have pdf files but when I load them onto my kobo it is teeny tiny and unreadable. How do I convert them to epub I tried calibre but it didn't work either. do you think you could help me
Is it this ereader able to resize the letters in a pdf file if they are originally too small for the size of the screen? I don't speak here about zoom, because that obligates you to use the arrow keys all the time to read the entire line, bit resizing the letter and so rearranging the document. Is it possible?
@aenigmate nope not possible. It doesn't reflow the text. Theres free programs (and websites) that let you bring in a PDF, and it converts it to epub. But it doesn't always work so good, especially if theres pictures on the PDF. If the PDF is just straight text it'll work great
First of all thanks for the vid. One question, how the zooming works? If a line doesn't fit the width you have to scroll right or it generates a new line below?
Wow, I'm constantly on youtube ragging on people and you actually decide to turn it into self-improvement? I thank you good sir, I thank you for advancing humanity forward. May your gadget reviews become famous throughout the youtubes.

How do you put PDF files onto your Kobo in the first place?
becca1441 1 year ago
@becca1441 You plug it into the computer and it mounts like a USB drive. Or you can put tHe sd card into a card reader and copy the PDF onto there

@aaronmcnees just copy the files over, not in any folders and the kobo will detect it

CAinslieI 1 year ago
@CAinslieI if its in pdf format yes, it'd be hard to read unless it was formatted for an 800 x 600 screen

@iRajiv Ok thank you very much!

@iRajiv Thanks for the answer, maybe ereaders are not the best option for technical books with graphs, at least in 6 inches screens!
But in the meantime, i've discovered one thing I think is going to kill ebooks: it's called Pixel Qi display installed in laptops:

A major concern I have with the device is whether or not you have control over the zoom. It's a concern when it comes to reading academic papers.

@modernclics
Yeah, this as a pretty worthless review without a zoom demonstration. Worthless.
