You are correct that nylon will melt if it comes in contact with the hot barrel of an M240 or M249. That is precisely why we construct the entire front portion of this sling out of NOMEX! Most manufacturers won't use nomex because it costs approximately 10 times as much as nylon to produce. If you have personally used one of our SAW or M240 Slings and have had a problem with it, we want to see it.
the bulldog 2 pt slings that are issued have 2 carabiners and the inside of the sling ,some sort of steel wire rope....connecting the carabiners.....but the main cushion type piece was kinda of awkward, it didnt stay in one place
kept moving back and forth, some SAW gunners just bought better 3 pt slings
javelin tube sling, 2 quality karabiners, job done. cheap as fuck, saves your money to spunk away on other shit in camp bastion/leatherneck.

thats what carabiners are there for retard.
you clip the carabiners to the buttstock and reciever hole and from there you attach your improvised sling.
carabiners wont get hot and melt the sling.
either way if you knew anything about medium MGs, you take the sling prior to firing and re-attach it back for patrols.
we get these shitty slings from the armory, none of us use em, we buy or make our own.
