All I can say is ALL of those nominees, including the presenter (Carrie), are amazingly talented singers. You CANNOT compare them to each other because it's like Apples and Oranges..Carrie is the more powerful singer, but Kellie has a very wide range, Taylor not only can sing but she's an AWESOME songwriter, and Miranda is not only a GREAT singer, but is an awesome performer and she adds in a little "attitude"...so I think they're all great. They're just all different types of singers/performers

Lol that's the thing, we agree! I am not a huge fan of the pop infusion, I like my country as country as can be. My point was that country isn't as pop as it seems. There are way less pop/country artists out there and regular country is as popular as ever. This is fact, not opinion. The biggest artists in country aren't pop influenced but a few.

Kid Rock is a country boy from MI (grew up Romeo aka Hickville) and experiments in many genres. I just don't understand how if you haven't always done country you're not country and vis versa. Carrie's music is less country than the Sheryl & Kid collabo. However, she's considered country and they're not?

Sheryl Crow is mainly a blues artist, blues is the heart and soul of country. Kid Rock is heavily influenced by Southern Rock and blues. Listen to "Only God Knows Why" or "Midnight Train to Memphis" and say that ain't country. Musicians don't only do things for money. Experimenting in Genres, especially ones you grew up listening to, isn't being fake and isn't any less country than the rest.

I love Taylor too, but I think Miranda has had a longer string of hits and is a generally stronger artist at the moment. She's got spice but is also a good singer/songwriter. I thought it was kind of odd Carrie was up for LAST year's best new female vocalist and Miranda is nominated for it THIS year because "Me and Charlie Talkin" was a hit before Carrie even released a record.

Well actually, I think you're a bit misinformed about Branch.She did "make it" in pop/rock (and like, won a Grammy, no big deal), but tried a collabo with her friend (Harp, a country singer) and got into more modern Folk, which is what the Wreckers are. Miranda also writes her own music as well, and IMO is a more clever songwriter and is stronger vocally. Though, I also think a matured Taylor is something to reckon with in a few years. Because of that, I agree with the Lambert win hands down.

Examples of older style country in a newer artist is Kellie Pickler(80's/90's country) and Gretchen Wilson(old school). Male singers are more likely to sound like straight country, but Josh Turner,Bucky,Trent Tomlinson,Aldean,Rodney Atkins, are good examples. So there's a lot of new artists that aren't pop/country. It's not a bad thing, I'm just saying, Carrie, Taylor, Flatts, Gracin, et al are the minority of new singers that are taking a pop approach.

Branch had a string of hits and strong collabos with other artists (Santana is one).She's always had a different sound from the rest of the pop singers like Britney,so I'm not sure who the "prettier and better singers" are because no female artists played guitar in pop music at that time, don't say Avril.Her last album greatly moved away from her original sound,it's not fake or forced to try different things, musicians do it all of the time so I don't think it's fair to call sellout.
