  • Nicely done bro and not a bad choice in music. You running reds or blues or a mix?

  • i am a firefighter not far from you...stay safe, good video.

  • this is the video fom djm448?

  • I thought it was an emergency why are they going so slow?

  • @radiosification When you are allowed to respond POV like this YOU are responsible for anything that happens when you respond. If he went thru town doing 70+mph and killed a pedestrian then it's his fault. Heres some advice given to me by my Chief said once, "If you are responding like a dumbass to a call and take yourself out, then you not only fucked your self but possibly the person you were trying to save. Slow down and pay extra attention to your surroundings!"

    Great response Kblaze!

  • @jamie381 yeah good point but this seems almost slower than the traffic

  • @radiosification I've had people outrun me before, he's just being very careful, because like I said, if he hits someone he has to stay there and wait for valuable resources that may be needed for that call to come back and help him. it's better to take 5 minutes to get there then to never get there at all!

  • @jamie381 here in england the emergency vehicles all drive much faster than that

  • @radiosification He is POV.. most states, cities and/or stations state that a pov does not assume automatic right of way, have same rights as code 3 emergency vehicle. thus he's doing nothing more then asking for those rights by other motorists he can't drive like them. Thus he legally can't even break the speed limit.

  • @jamie381 oh we dont have pov vehicles here in the uk

  • Awesome job, and thank you for what you do!

  • What do you use to mount your camera? I am going to become a volunteer firefighter next year when I turn 18 and I would like to record me responding to calls not just for youtube but also for my safety such as if something happens I have proof of what I did as I was responding to a call

  • My parents were both from Bucyrus.

  • Is it common for people going in the opposite direction to stop?

  • @EnfieldUK It is the law in the US to pull over no matter the direction the emergency vehicle is coming in... common, yes.... always, no.

  • @todaresq Depends which state your in. Missouri they dont have to. the lights are to request them to give the right away. Most of them do tho.

  • @todaresq Unless it's a divided road. (Center median, wall barracade ect.)

  • this was filmed in ohio btw nice driving

  • what siren do u use?

  • @cheeseninja134 Code 3 V-con

  • Prime example of the way a code 3 response SHOULD be done... safely and very professional...

  • i think you need to add some hide-aways at least dont seem like your visible enough.....

  • is there a reason for the constant siren on dead roads? The last time our local department ran through town at night with sirens blaring for no reason they got ripped.

  • @reptile411 probably regulations

  • @reptile411 In my state (Ohio), it's the law. If u get in a wreck using only lihts, it's your ass.

  • @reptile411 yeap you don't want to hit a deer or any thing on your way there do you

  • code 3?

  • @ipkul3ter Yes.

  • ur a volunteer ff rite and if so what state and if you would tell me what all yall can put on ur own vehicles

  • I know where this is!

    I live here!!!!!! >:O

    Good old, Bucyrus,Ohio!!!!!! Great Response

  • good response video brother, jus ignore them ignorant fucks they all need to get the sand outta their vaginas becuase when they have an emergency then they will bitch about how you didnt get there fast enough. yall stay safe

  • I wish emergency vehicles would stop running noisy sirens at night (while people are sleeping), especially with no vehicles anywhere in sight. Since noise levels are generally lower, perhaps they should consider quieter sirens during nighttime hours.

  • @stewartx5

Most sirens we can't adjust the volume and 2nd in Ohio we when we are running lights we have to run the siren also by law

  • @stewartx5

Then again at nigh time if there is no traffic i usually dont run lights or sirens because i live only 1.5miles from the station anyways so i still get there pretty quick

  • NICE response! everything i saw it was an extra safe response i mean you came to a complete stop at the every red light. Props to you on that safe response!!!!!

  • First off great driving! Don't listen to these idiots about using your sirens because you could "wake someone up" Who the hell cares? It's an emergency, then if you caused a wreck because someone didn't hear you THEN you would be criticised for not using it. In my town we can run whatever color set ups we want on our vehicles after the 6month probation period. Right now Im running Red and white

  • Nice driving! Great response.

  • where at do you live my brother is a firefighter/emt-b and i am a cadet we live around lebonan wilmington area near cincinati.....and for all you people/stupid asses that are telling him he is retarded for using his siren its law hear that way they know we are coming and as kblazk86 said you dont like it dont post a comment or just dont watch the video

  • My SINCERE apologies to kblaze for this whole issue. I can not believe this has become a problem again TWO YEARS LATER. You are a hero in so many ways for doing what you do for nothing other then the joy of it. To do something like this without pay says a lot about your character. I have been a volunteer and paid firefighter. I love this line of work regardless, and I salute all my true brothers and sisters in this profession for their sacrifices.

  • my state(MI) allows red/white for fire/ems.

police get blue red and white.

regular civilians get amber and white

  • yea im on the B.V.F.D. jr firefighter and what confuses me is that we have to get the sheriff to sign off on the permit as well as our fire cheif =( sucks ass bc i got $250 worth of stuff for my vehice but my fire cheif wont sign off on it sucks ass!

  • What speaker do you have hooked up to it.

  • my dads a chief we live on long island he can run red/blue/clear/and amber and a siren. so for his birthday i put the best setup in his pov front interior light bar rear arrow stick rear facing interior lightbar and a federal sig smart siren and a power call pluss remot siren

  • I run in Virginia where we allowed to run Red and White lights because blue lights are designated for the police. We cant run sirens either but i wouldnt because im a federal type of guy....firefighter...

  • @cowboysfan2110 I'm in ny we can run green i have green and white on my car

  • yeah. after hearing the sirens n pagers after the yrs.. i could do without them. im not as into the firefighting like i used to be. however i do love the fire service in genral. im trying to become a fire photographer now. i got my own set of turnouts n everything.

  • @Cecfire0123 when did the change the Vol guys over to greenlights , why not stick to blue like it was?

  • Fire Volunteer run Blue and EMS Volunteer (me) run green/green or green/white...... I have a Visor light from speed tech lights green/white if your going to but lights get it from them there bright.

  • I like dash lights that what i use

  • I work as an EMT and I run volunteer, maybe some people would think it would beneficial but I wouldn't WANT a siren on my POV even if it was legal here in NJ. I get tired of listening to it in the ambulance so it would drive me crazy if I had to have it in my POV and use it, I have blue lights on my truck and I don't live that far away from the squad building. If they gave us permission to use red lights, that would be okay but I'll pass on having a siren.

  • im from iowa. we run blue lights. im with you tho... sirens get so annoying!

  • @stormspotter67 wow i love sirens i can here them anytime

  • Fire Volunteer run Blue and EMS Volunteer (me) run green/green or green/white...... I have a Visor light from speed tech lights green/white if your going to but lights get it from them there bright.

  • we run blue, and ems runs blue white.

  • i wish we could run blue/white

  • eh to me colors are colors

  • @stormspotter67 I'm Ex volunteer in Ohio we can have red or red & white yea but you have to move every one out of your way here you run lights you have your sirens on to.

  • Yes i agree with brendanryan0510.. Im a captain and i dont even run the Q inless there's traffic. Have respect for the people that are sleeping.. But then again sometimes i do understand that you have too get for a call in the middle of night but you only need a siren when your coming on intersections and traffic around you..

  • its the law if someboyd pulls out in front of them they could go to jail

  • @amblefire no they cant. the use of lights and siren is only requesting premisson for the right of way.

  • @21usamp Is that why you can get a ticket for "failure to yeild to an emergency vehicle"? LOL

  • This video would have been a lot sweeter without the music. Just syain'...

  • This shit is so cheesy, lights and sirens @ intersections otherwise your waking the whole hood because you think your on 3rd Watch -- Rory , Bronx NY

  • May seem cheesy but honestly, who wants to flip lights and sirens on and off more than they have to? Especially while driving. Sirens are a sound of life, people need to get used to it.

  • its the law if you run lights at anytie you have too run sirens if you get into a crash you wil go to prison if somebody die's

  • hey its the law and we hit somebody and they die we go to prsion

  • thanks

  • whats the name of that song in the background??

  • song is: kenny wayne shepard - "was"

  • hey did ya figure out the name to that song? i wanna know also ...

  • what does "pov" mean?

  • Personal Owned Vehicle

  • i thought it was personal operation vehicle

  • dumbasses, it means point of view, in relation to where the camera is

  • it has differant meanings and thats not the meaning used here

  • orly?

  • what?

  • Personally Owned Vehicle =]

  • No... POV Response as in Personally Owned Vehicle. This is a term Volunteers use to refer to their own cars during a response.

  • no einstein it means Personally Owned Vehicle, in this instance anway. Trust me, all firefighters know this.

  • Please man what is the deal with leaving the siren on all the way? There is no traffic, I would keep them off, drive faster on the long road and turn them on at red lights.

  • well damn thats your way i love the siren i think your being a little nit pick telling him what to do leave the guy alone!

  • thats the problem with povs man, they want the siren because they love em, not because they need em.

I'm leaning towards agreeing with the professionals, no lights and sounds for povs.

  • in my county we have 2 trucks most live to far out to get one so we go pov to the secen im going to say thats most likly the case here or close to

  • i kno here in nc where i am you cant have sirens just lights

  • be happy you have sirens :) we have to fit tooth and nail for just visor lights. let alone a dash light.

  • in most states it is the law if you have lights on you must have the siren as will i do the same thing cus its the LAW

  • In Ohio you can be cited for not running lights and SIREN. In my county our departments are respected and people say you better run lights and siren cause what if the next time it's me I need you guys. In Ohio you can turn the siren off when your lights are off or if your stationary.

  • ya thats so someone can come out of a driveway and destroy your truck on your way to help someone

  • Just saying that were I am from you must run sirens if you have your lights on. Dosn't matter whether there is traffic or not. That applys when you are on the truck or in your POV!

  • interesting. on the longer hauls, emergency drivers complain of headaches from the sirens and lights. Driving hours on end with the siren on is a challenge in itself, nevermind having to listen to that all the way.

Interesting that your drivers are not allowed to assess the situation themselves.

  • Where is the lights?

  • watch the very end. you can see them.

  • What does POV stand for?

  • it stand's for Personally Owned Vehicle

  • it can also stand for Privately Owned Vehicle...same thing

  • the dude had lights and siren whats wrong with that? if i could run emergency traffic for my dept you can better your ass id light that bitch up becuase i dont care if its 2 cars or 20 their going to slow you down and dumbass people dont move over for fire trucks volunteer or not its not all just brush fires there are plenty of mvas and structure fires to go around

  • Bucyrus??

  • Hey ffemt73 law states if you have red lights on your vehicle and they are on you have to have a audiable warning device as well ( aka the siren ) even if no one is on the road

  • hey did see any light on at all even when u went through that over pass i believe it was... wuts up wit that????

  • Very nice! Reminds me of my days at the Fire Departmet. Keep up the great work! And pay no mind to the stupid comments here.

  • no lights?! how can anyone see what to pull over for?!?!

  • He has his lights on, you can see them reflect int road sign. They are just not very bright I think.

  • Yea, and I'm sure you have that same traffic when it is that late at night.

  • no, traffic is just as busy at night...

  • really? well I better have slowed down then from 65mph to 55mph on that cornfield fire then huh... let me guess, do you chase ambulances for a living? go to another IAFF meeting and quit wasting your time here.

  • @CFDChris237 obviously you don't take firefighting seriously if a cornfield is on fire and you say "oh what the fuck, it's just a field fire...let me take my time" any fire call must be taken as an emergency and none should be disregarded because of your personal discretion, you asshole..

  • @VFVFCo68 First of all, we dont get " cornfield fires" around here. We get actual house and commercial fires. How many runs you get a year? 10? Your a buff who loves to get off playing with your little siren.

  • @CFDChris237 First of all, we get around 300 to 400 runs a year, and we don't run POV responses to the scene, we have to haul our asses to the station to make the fire truck. I am not a buff, and i do not have a siren on a POV, no one in my department does. Get your facts strait.

  • @VFVFCo68 Your video is titled " POV response at night" which shows you driving your own vehicle with a siren. So when you say "and i do not have a siren on a POV" doesn't hold any water. 300-400 geez man that is boring.

  • Ohio law is what it is. If you don't like it then write your legislature don't waste your time posting on here.

  • you are a dumbass arent you? We follow the law, if you dont like it, like he said, go cry to your local/state government

  • @DetectiveNick lets see dickhead, if your house was on fire, would you want him to take his jolly old time to get there? or would you actually want him to use his sirens so he's legally aloud to go over speed limit and get there faster. and i can see it now, you or your children burning. But atleast the fire department didnt use their sirens to get there faster.

  • @DetectiveNick Ohio law is to have a siren going, if you have one, to every emergency scene.

  • Siren was wired up on 100 watts and has since been hooked up to 58 watts due to some complaints of being able to hear it from too far away. Someone said something about headlights being "weak." This is a 3/4 ton truck and the lights came adjusted from the factory a little too high but i havn't gotten around to adjusting them down yet.

  • wow, too loud... i'll trade ya speakers!! lol, sometimes i think mine aint loud enough.

  • 221engine - I've watched this video again, and he didn't do anything he wasn't suppose to. Those weren't residential side streets, they are roads and highways. You are suppose to run code 3 on the roads he's on. If they were side residentail roads then I would be agreeing with you. But not in this situation. He responded how we was suppose to. What is the first rule of EMS? Our safety! Then partner safety, p/t safety, and safety of others. He was doing what he was suppose too.

  • some states require a siren no matter what, the state i live in being one of them, if you are running lights you need to have an audible tone.

  • I am 99.9% sure that in OHIO you HAVE to run you siren along with your lights.

  • GREAT video! shows exactly what to do... good hustle on the straight stretches, and keep up the good work at intersections - too many of us don't slow down enough/stop at a red when running code 3.

as for 221engine's comment about sirens at night - i dunno if you're serious or sarcastic; if you're not kidding, review your department SOP/SOG's and local highway traffic act - you'll probably find that you need lights AND siren to be officially considered an 'emergency vehicle' to get right-of-way

  • i can almost guarantee you wouldn't be saying that if he was responding to a call and YOUR ass was on the line reading that comment, if i knew it was you i'd take my time, maybe get a coffee first of something :)

  • SOOOOOOOOOOO true, I HATE dumb asses like 221 engine, just like you said people that say you are responding to fast, you lights are to bright (believe it or not people have said that), they get mad when you "speed" by them and pull infront of them and stop to turn!! I hate it when people don't move, but JUST like you said if it was "YOUR ass" on the line you would not be saying those things.

  • Yeah.. its ridiculous until it's your ass, or a loved one thats in need of help 5 minutes ago. Just wait till you can't breath, or was just attacked and are bleeding out, or was just involved in an MVA. Stop hating.. besides running code 3 is dangerous.. its not like the movies where you can just fly, so having no sirens would be even more dangerous.

  • Uhm.. you are required (if responding to a "hot" call) to respond with lights and sirens regardless of the time. I have responded in my ambo at 1am down a residential street with sirens on. Yes try and be considerate, but don't run without sirens because you could wake people up. That's not our problem.. OUR problem is saving a life in need of saving. And I would like to see the research on that NFPA study.. I really really would.

  • You were obiously responding to the scene right? There was a Firestation ahead sign at 1:50. Great video, and a safe video great job.

  • you had a cop pulled over back there... Nice Video and POV

  • yeah our cops around here are pretty good to us

  • Here GA you got to have a siren if your runnen lights. Although a couple of old timers at my station never use them on the engine & when I turn on the siren they give me dirty looks. BTW lucky you. My dept can no longer run code3 in POV's. We have a new chief thats a safety nazi and wont allow it. Thanks for the video

  • i consider the siren part of our "pay from the state of ohio" for us volunteering our services... Ohio is realy lax on the code 3 laws, there is no set speed limit and all runs classify as code 3, even minor stuff.

  • we cant use sirens ever in ny. i wish we could!

  • same in pa...

  • If your cheif is sooooooooooooo strict about safety, they he should let you use sirens, they will make it safer to get to the station!

  • There is no traffic! Turn off the siren

  • In some states, vehicles responding emergency MUST have audible as well as visual warning on at all times. In other states, while that is not required, if you are not displaying both visual and audible siren, you are not considered a vehicle running emergency.

  • What about NY? Are volly firefighters allowed to have sirens?

  • Don't think so

  • in upstate ny only chiefs can have red lights and sirens and non chiefs use blue lights

  • no lights?

  • steelpanther42 he is in Busyrus Ohio going north on Rt4. I.m an Ex fire fighter from New Washington Ohio.

  • new carlisle fire department here =]

  • I wanna see the damn lights

  • look at my other video's! i got one ewith the lights

  • everyone complains about people with lights and sirens on their POVs, but when it's your house on fire, or you having a heart attack and the people trying to save your life are stuck in traffic because you don't think its right for them to use lights, your the one thats gonna be sorry, and if not, your the one thats going to be complaining about response time. This guy is a great driver, he's safe, like most volunteers, we're there to help, not because we want to be able to drive this way.

  • Lol thats funny cuz thats what happend to my dad when he was a ff in a lil town where we used to live everyone on this one street didnt think they should have lights and then this one day there was a bunch of trafic and they got a call 1 of the ppls houses that complained was on fire and they tryed to get to it but ppl wouldent let them by cuz they just thought it was someone trying to get a better spot in line sorta thing and then the one house turned

  • into a 3 house fire cuz they couldent get there so now they all have lights again LOL

  • nice driving... stopping and checking at the red lights... very impressive and safe!!!!

  • ONCE AGAIN, since people dont listen, this was brought to my attention on a firefighting forum, not here. Im not bitching, and Im not here to cause trouble. Im offering my opinion on the subject, which is why comments here haven't been disabled, because the creator of this wants comments.

If you can't take people saying anything other than "you are so cool" or "I like this video" you shouldn't post stuff on YouTube then, cause every video I have ever seen has comments that are in disagreement

  • Man, that looks a lot like Bucyrus, Ohio. Never been there, but I figure that looks a lot like it.

  • nice video. good driving.

  • Mattkrembs I understand what you are saying and you are right about getting hyper when going to a call I freaking love it! I am been a Volunteer now for about 1 year and this is really something I want to do for the rest of my life I do enjot watching some of the POV videos now some are just damn stupid but a few are good!

  • mattcrab - I know of many vollies that have dash cams for liability reasons. I put the video on here cause its a safe response and maybe some other vollies can learn from it how to respond!

  • No you dont. That's a lie and you and I both know it. You put them there to show your status as an emergency responder to other people. You dont put video clips of yourself on YouTube to be a teacher of safe driving practices when going to emergencies. You aren't an EVOC instructor, and these videos are to make yourself feel like a hero.

I was 18 once and a volunteer firefighter. I know what it's like to be hyper and excited going to calls. Dont act like you dont know what Im talking about.

  • hyper and excited... that go's away after a while.. unless ur really weird

  • Maybe he is showing this to show his status as an emergency responder. Its kind of like you watching all of these videos just so you can bash these guys for lighting their truck up or recording a run to a fire. you strike me as a guy that just likes to hear your self bitch. get off your pedistal man. we all cant be the perfect firefighter like the great mattkrembs. Shit,we might even make an award and send it to you. we can call it the perfect firefighter award. (not cool to get picked on is it)

  • See, THIS is the problem, people think Im bitching or trying to look down on everyone, when all i want is for ALL emergency responders to think about what they're posting on here. The public is VERY quick to critique our every move, and this can be percieved as dangerous driving, bragging, or anything else. We dont need bad publicity of any sort in our profession.

God almighty, heaven forbid if someone has an opinion other than "hey, your lights are cool" or "that's sweet."

  • ok but then again they could be putting it on here to show how to respond safely.

  • I think the dash cams are a good idea for liability reasons, just dont post them here on YouTube.

Ive seen POV vids where the idiot driving is HOLDING THE CAMERA and driving 100mph one-handed. First of all, that's insanely dangerous, second, he's showing off the fact that he's going 100mph, third, he's talking about the call and possibly relaying stuff that's HIPPA violations in the camera. If someone with any legal knowledge sees that, that guy could be inserious trouble, and we all look bad

  • Oatman, get off your OWN pedestal. You didnt pick on me worth a shit, and you only prove my point so much more.
