sir can you tell me when a continuous data is broken in smaller units.I mean some text books say that data is first fragmented at transport layer and data link layer. If it is done at both layer what is the point of doing it twice....?
@intelligent0123 Im not an expert but what i know is that the data is segmented in the transport layer, then is encapsulated in a packet(Network layer PDU) in the network layer that contains both the segment(transport layer PDU), and the ip addresses, then is encapsulated in a frame(data link PDU) in the data link layer, wich contains both the packet and the physical addresses, and then is transmited in form of bits over the network. Each PDU has more information fields that what i listed
@PcolaSteve4234 I am unable to locate part two of this series. This is a CISCO production, not my own. If any one else can locate part two let me know and I will Gladly add it. There is still plenty to gain from part one...enjoy!
dude, believe me you couldn't take it if they jumped into detail. This is one of the best presentations on the subject that I have seen, and I have seen a lot of them.
There is a bit too much visual and worded bullshit before its gets to the point and even when it does get to the point it does not go into proper detail. If more time was spent actually explaining each layer in understandable detail rather than spent on the crap then it would have been more productive, but as it stands its still a useful video :)

Its very proffessional but its too wordy to get a real understanding. Just thought you would like to know.
malcr001 2 years ago
I kinda agree, "wordy" is a good way to describe it, there maybe still be some nuggets to take from this. Where is the other half?
