I've enjoyed each and every Tori Amos album since 'Little Earthquakes' but her singing voice has changed for the last few albums, she sang differently on 'American Doll Posse' and has kept with that style of singing since, yet when she sings live, it's as if her style of singing is the same as it used to be.
I like Tori but I really dislike her aura when she performs, the faces she makes are so over the top and sort of predatory and fake seeming. I do like her music but I just wish she was more humanistic and realistic when she performed and just sang the songs w/out all the fake melodrama.
@tombigbee29 That's what real performing is. Tori started her career by playing in little small bars and clubs: she's always been a live singer. That's all glorious old-school! Even the way her concerts are built (song, then lights switched off for a second, then another song, and so on) recalls the old theatre singers, like the French chanteurs (Piaf, Brel, etc.) or the German cabaret player (Brecht, Dietrich, etc.). She's not Lady Gaga: her faces are her 'special effects'!
Wow... I really dig Matt and Jon and the other musicians; However, there is something really special when Tori is alone expressing these songs... It's all her. I love the new music!
I totally agree with you. She makes beautiful songs but I feel like the band ruins them =/ Seems like they can't reach the level of "From The Choirgirl Hotel" anymore.... It's so sad =l
I've followed your advice and listened to 'lady in blue'. And you were right, it also sounds much better than the album version. By the way, I couldn't hear all the songs in live version yet, but now I have no doubt that they all must sound better than the album version as well. I miss the old Tori, when it was just the girl and her piano =l
Yeah, it is missing. She has played with rings on before though. I know when I play the piano I can't wear any rings. I feel as if they get in the way, heh. Maybe she felt that the songs she was going to play were more difficult... and they're new as well.... or maybe she lost it? I don't know, heh.
I wish she would release an acoustic version of this song...the drums and guitars on the studio version really strip it of its impact.

I love Tori's bass lines, especially what she added in the beginning here.

Could this possibly be about her working with Doug Morris in the business again?

I like this better than the album version.
Sometimes when she's recording I wish she'd tell everyone to fuck off and just do her thing.

Yeah this one is better. This girl didn't need drums on the album.

Did you listen to Lady in Blue posted by Torivision as well? It also sounds better than the album version.

[btw, am i the only one who see's that her wedding ring is missing?]

Yeah I noticed that too, maybe it just clashed with her outfit. I hope that is the case anyway.
