  • Congrats on the good report. Nice to see your skin graft scar on the clavicle has healed nicely.

  • very cool :-D I like all video

  • Thanks for showing ur socks lol

  • wildbill i made it through!i had the colonoscopy with midazolam which relaxed me a bit,i got the all clear (its ibs) and glad to say i won't need another one.i was terrified beforehand but i survived it.it is nothing to be afraid of,trust me

  • thank you soooo much for this video!! i have my colonoscopy and upper endoscopy tomorrow to test for crohn's and i was SUPER nervous but now i'm less scared:) i'm glad that they didn't find anything wrong with you!!

  • I have ulcerative colitis and get one of these every ten years. That's the nastiest shit I've ever tasted in my life... it's literally like, shit and 7-up mixed in a bottle.

    I haven't touched a can of 7UP or Sprite since I was 10.

  • Hey bill got the colo. over with! YA! The worst part was the prep. the day before. Otherwise the pro. went fast . Have to follow up with doc. on treatment plan and ad or change some meds. But it went SO FAST that when I woke up I did not re. I had been asleep. The wonders of Popfal and Verced. GREAT drugs. Thanks again for your great channel! Have a good day.

  • @Richcool79 Glad it went well and if there are any problems, you'll find out sooner and that is good. Thanks for your kind words about my video channel.

  • Also the thanks for your video.

  • @Richcool79 You're welcome

  • Hello Bill had to post. the colonoscopy AGAIN! Had another infla. Been on meds . and now it is a go for Friday at 7:30 am. Still nerv. about this. I guess more fear of the unkonwn/ Will let you know how it goes . Have a good day .

  • @Richcool79 Good luck and you'll be glad for the report. Either way, it's good to know sooner.

  • I love your sense of humor! You made this a fun and informative video. I'm really glad your test was normal and you're okay! Thanks for posting!

  • @mmmbad Thank you very much.

  • Your slapstick face is golden!

    Will subscribe.

  • I know all too well about that drink and yes it cleans you out, and it's flavored now which is a good thing

  • i am from Brazil in south america and i loved this video ...

  • I have to have this and I am only 30!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! have IBS whic has been very painful when I have flare ups. I wonder what the gastro. is thinking? Is'nt there another test that can be done?????

  • @Richcool79 thanks for writing and for viewing. I'm not a medical professional, so I would advise you to follow your doctor's plan for diagnosis and treatment. Perhaps he wants to eliminate the possible causes of your IBS. Good luck, and let us know what happens. - Bill

  • @wildbill1911A1 OMG! I have this on feb. 4 which is on a Friday. Had CT. scan last mounth and they found a part of the lower left colon was infected and some "quest." influmation??? Finished meds. But what does that mean?? They also say I have "IBS" ??? I put this off out of fear but now I guess it is time to get it over with. Have a good day Bill . I will let you all know how it went.

  • @Richcool79 Good luck with the diagnosis and treatment. The colonoscopy is nothing to fear. That's the message of my video.

  • Wildbill, you're such a gentle and gently humorous man and you've obviously made a lot of people feel happier about things - and you're 'Normal! 'Raaay!' :)) Job well done!

  • @smike09100 Thank you very much for watching and commenting.

  • I am considering showing your video to my two best friends that refuse to get a colonoscopy done. I hope they will change their minds. I don't want to lose them.

Thanks so much for posting! ;)

  • @IanToronto Thanks, Ian. I hope you do show it to them. Also, see that there are many similar comments (I saw your video, now I realize it's no big deal, etc. ) and I hope your friends decide to get checked. Colon Cancer, I'm told, is easy to treat if it's caught early enough. The only way to do that is with a colonoscopy. I was fearful, but making my experience into a public service announcement made a difference to me.

  • Every man should watch this video. You make it seem waaaayyy ok to do what is needed. So many men are afraid of this. Good for you Bill.

  • can i borrow u bill when i go 4 the procedure?u would make me laugh!no seriously this will be the 2nd attempt(the 1st ended abruptly cos i ran out just prior 2 sedation)and at 37 yrs of age i feel ashamed 2 say im scared.

  • @Amandamoo73 Amanda, this is why I made the video, to show people like you there is nothing to fear. Don't be ashamed of your past. Be brave for the future.

  • I took all the laxatives I was prescribed, on schedule, but my colon was still emptying, during my bus trip to the doctor's office, so I had to wear diapers on the bus. I guess they were leaking, because everyone was moving away from me. Then the bus driver asked me to leave. Then I was unable to find a taxi driver that was willing to take me home. So I called an ambulance to take me to the hospital, but they refused to come.

  • I feel you on the nerves, mine is schedule for the 16th,I think they have an opening for the 13th,I will get it done then, but man the nerves you go through.all the men that I spoken with says it's nothing to it and my dad is one of them.

  • @jazzzco be brave, and trust me, you have nothing to worry about. And, if you do have polyps, won't you be glad you found them now? I think you deserve a reward for being so proactive. I recommend a bass boat.

  • @jazzzco Well I'm sure that you are nervous, as I was too. And in all honesty, prepping the night before was the worst part. Believe me, you probably won't remember a thing. Hope all goes well, good luck:)

  • i sure will wildbill.....lol

  • ive been scheduled to have mine for the last two months...lol i keep rescheduleing due to nerves!! Thanks for the video eased some of my fears...resceduled for july 19th maybe ill do it this time!!

  • @jesteph06 I did the same thing.. rescheduled mine two times. I hope this video helped you realize you can do it. Please comment again, when you know the results.

  • Hey Bill - I'm having mine today. Your video has relieved some of the stress...a million thanks!

  • @monnie1968 Let's hope for a good test and a clean outcome!

  • Also for coffee drinkers - start TWO WEEKS before so you don't get those horrid caffeine headaches and runny nose (yes, I AM addicted to MUGS of Turkish Coffee every day). First start with ONE cup of coffee, THEN finish off with BLACK tea, after three days or so, move to NO coffee and ALL tea, then switch from Black Tea to Green tea -- about three days later -- and green tea is NEARLY clear, WHITE TEA is the finish for three days before, try peets. Com for exceptional teas and you NEED it.

  • Bill, one thing I've found that works VERY Well to keep the chicken broth interesting. I was a firefighter and had my partner die of CR cancer, so I want to make sure that EVERYTHING is gone. Try PLAIN Knox Gelatin- I like to use 4-8 packs per cup of warm broth -- (don't chill it, chicken broth Jello sucks) and it will thicken it a bit as it cools in your stomach and you will feel full. I double the time and do it for 3-4 days. Absolutely works wonders, doc says it's the best view he's seen!

  • Thankyou for posting this video. I have to get this done in a week and I'm nervous as hell.

  • @777katsmeow I'm glad I could help ease your anxiety. It is not nearly as bad as you imagine it.

  • @777katsmeow how did it go or turn out,,,,,thanks

  • EEEKS! I go for mine this coming Thursday, and although I'm a woman, I'm not particularly looking forward to it, BUT, since I've lost friends to CA, it's something I can't NOT do either. I hope I have as good a time as you, & I hope I have a doc that is a good sport about jokes!...lol.Thanks, and you have a great outlook on things!

  • @TheLoneWolf52 hope it went well, and that your health is good.

  • @wildbill1911A1 It was a breeze!!! The hardest part IS the prep; other than that, I've had tooth cleanings that were more disruptive!

  • Great video! You're a funny man!

  • You think I was funny, just imagine how many jokes my doc has heard. or told.

    Thanks for watching.

  • Hi Bill! I'm glad to hear you got a clean bill of health! I've had the procedure and it is SO worth the peace of mind! Thanks for posting. Your sense of humor was so refreshing!

  • Life is full of humorous situations. Even this one.

  • Wow! had my exam today, It was easy-the I remember the doc telling the nurse !!!!!! dont remember getting dressed, had a sip of juice, dont remember the doctor talking to my wife!! GREAT DRUGS!!!

  • Thanks for watching, and for the comments. I'm sure they help others who are looking at YouTube to see what it will be like.

  • @wildbill1911A1 I had a colonoscopy in 2008 -- I didn't even take the sedation. Didn't need it. It was just cramping from all the air they pump into the colon. A few times it was intense cramping, but it only lasted a few seconds before easing off again. Whole thing was done in fifteen minutes.

The prep is the worst part of it.

Overall, much preferable to the potential consequences of neglecting to be checked.

  • You are a wise man, Mike.

  • easy for YOU to say LOL. did that in december and it hurt like hell. I remember screaming. Next time, SEDATION for sure. uuggghh next yr:(

  • they give me one every yr:( I have a reaccuring stricture in my sigmoid needing constant dilations.

  • Well done... entertaining and informative. Funny, too. Thank you!

  • thanks.

  • Thanks so much for the video!! i just got done with my prep and tomorrow morning is my colonoscopy. your vid makes it seem like a breeze! i hope mine goes as well

  • I'm sure it will be fine. It's a very routine procedure.

  • I am getting this done tomorrow. Did they completely knock you out? What do they give you?

  • Glad you watched and thanks for the question. I think it was some kind of drug that lets you stay awake or awake-ish but you don't remember any of it. No pain or discomfort at all. For me, the big hurdle was overcoming my modesty.

  • Hey Bill, just sharing this with a friend in Castine. I've been in house remodeling hell lately... but finally getting somewhere! Hope all is well with you! Cheers!

  • Bill, Am I allowed to comment on your vid?

First, YOU ARE HYSTERICAL POST OP!!! HOLY COW...I have to go wash my hands...

Second, note the part where they put oxygen on you?? THE CANNULA ISN'T EVEN IN YOUR NARES! Oh that is the funniest thing!

The drugs that let you talk to the doc but be awake? Called CONSIOUS SEDATION...great drugs. LOVE THEM!

Good job Bill, congrads on passing your first 'exam'!

  • yes, of course you can comment. thanks. I do like to think I've got a great sense of humor, or at least a sense of what people will find amusing.

Yep. Post-Op. Some of my best moments.

  • Thanks for asking.... All went well.... didn't even realize .... Thanks to you, it helped ease a bit of anxiety..... What a horror the night before was.... EASY STREET... see you in 5 yrs

  • excellent news. Glad to hear that my little video helped ease your anxiety.

  • Thanks for the tasteful vid. It has a relaxed aura about it which I find calming in preparation for my colonoscopy tomorow.

  • There is nothing to fear. This procedure is so simple, but it's is often misunderstood. You have nothing to worry about, and if they find something early, you'll be so happy you did it.

  • HELP!!! Tomorrow I beging the Cocktail.... I will put it in a Martini Glass....but I am sooo scared! Thanks for the video....It helped a little...but I am so scared...Never was put out and only doing this because my Dad had colon cancer..... I am scared.................I hope I will wake up

  • fear not. or fear naught. it is a routine procedure and you will have no problems. Did you follow the doctor's instructions? (note: they may not tell you to use a hand lotion often on the day before you go in, but you will wash your hands perhaps 20 times, so you'll wish you had used hand lotion).

  • Tomorrow is my d-day to begin the cocktail .... I never was put out and I am scared to death..... thanks but I am still scared.....I hope to wake up......thanks for making it easier to accept

  • How did it go? Was it worse or better than you expected?

  • 15k views ? Something happened here since I last saw the video.

I guess you're becoming more and more famous.

  • I'm pleased that so many people have either:

seen this video as a way to reduce the anxiety they may have had for getting this life-saving procedure

    or

wanted a look at my ass.

Either way, I guess I should be flattered.

  • BWAHAHAHAA

  • I'm sorry. I don't speak english well.

I've done the colonoscopy. I think it took the doctor about 7-8, max. 10 minits.

I would say: You have to have a WELL doctor!! And go to him!

You should remember: !a well doctor!

  • Thanks for posting, I'm DREADING this procedure. It looks like you drove there, but you had someone else drive home? Were you very weak before or after procedure? Do you vomit afterwards? Thanms!

  • This is EXACTLY why I made this video. No vomiting any time. I drove there, but had to be driven home because of the anesthesia drugs wearing off slowly. I could have waited it out, but that would have been six or eight hours. It's just not safe to drive right away.

I know it seems "dreadful", but the procedure is painless and you don't remember any of it.

Good luck. Don't postpone it. Find out you are healthy, or find out you're sick early and fix it.

  • Thanks again Bill. You're a good guy for doing this to help everyone. I really appreciate the help (yes I'm still terrified-lol). My best friends father died of colon cancer at 54, and he was like a father to me. So it's a very serious issue.

  • It is serious, but quite treatable if discovered early. Good luck, and post a note when you're done!

  • I just did this a week ago, i was scared to death unlike you, but your are right, no pain, no memory of any of it. I know next time not to worry so much. MEN OUT THERE PLEASE DO THIS, IT SAVES LIVES! Thanx Bill, you rock!

  • Thanks. That is one of the reasons I did this video.. to convince people it is worth doing and not to be afraid.

There were no bad after effects, either.

  • "You get to wash your hands A LOT the day before a colonoscopy"! God, I hope the DOCTOR follows the same rule!!

  • It sounded a little like you were slurring your words, so I'm thinking they gave you something REALLY GOOD. I might ask my doctor if I should get a colonoscopy. If you don't remember any of it, it might be OK! Did you get to Trader Joes after making that list?

  • They do give you stuff to make you not remember any of it, but you're conscious for all of it.

I still had my sense of humor, though, and DID go to Trader Joe's the next day.

  • You are hilarious! I love it! Yes, hand lotion too....Your bag of goodies looked about like mine...except, I had huggies...and a ice cold hand towel. Great video! Love it!

  • I think it's excellent that you've posted this video! I've had it done twice due to crohns disease and was really nervous before my first time. This video would have helped.

It's not bad, just be as sedated as possible then you don't really care :)

During my procedure, one of the nurses leant over and said "Oh, don't you drink in the Leather Craftsman?" and it turned out that they all knew me.

    That's dignity for you!

  • Thanks for your comments. Well, as they say, regarding your friends at the doc's office, "it pays to advertise".

  • Thanks for doing this video! I am having my first colonoscopy in about a month. I am not looking forward to it, but now I am not too concerned.

  • Good for you for finding this video, and you're right, it's nothing to worry about. Good for you, too, for getting this done.

  • I feel sorry for you. I had to drink that crap too and it made me puke!

  • it wasn't bad at all for me.

  • hahahahahahahaha, you just made my day. I have one in two days and I've been pretty terrified but I'm going to try to see the humor in it all.

    thank you :)

  • That's why I did this... to show it is not all that bad. It's much worse just thinking about it.

  • this is adorable! not sure if that was the cometu were lokin for but it is =P

  • i am having my colonoscopy done in a few hours and your video really did help ease some of my anxiety........

  • Excellent! that is what I was hoping for. Please post a comment after it's over and let everyone know your experience. Best of luck with being "a regular a-hole", as my doc called me (in jest).

  • i gad mone done yesterday wasent bad at all

  • Been there. Done that. The sociopath actually took me and picked me up. But that is another story. I should have made a video of that one.

  • yes, it shows other people that it's not so bad. the anxiety was the worst part.

  • good luck iam haveing one done in 2 weeks

  • Thanks! It went well. It really is much less of a big deal than most people imagine it is.

    No biggie. Really.

  • I'm going in tomorrow for mine. Took the Dulcolax an hour ago and the hand washing has yet to begin... THANKS for easing my concerns.

  • You're welcome. Be sure you use hand lotion after the hand washing ... or your hands will be raw from the soap by tomorrow. It will be easy, and there is nothing to worry about. Please report later how it went.

  • All went fine. I arrived at 8:30 and was on my way home by 10:30. Funny thing -I kept my socks AND sneakers on. Nurse suggested I wear them as I had a short walk to the procedure room. I was styling. I was up and about less than 15 minutes after I woke up. No pain, cramps, etc and hands are still pretty clean. Wife gave me a free gas pass all day! Bill, thanks for your video. You definitely helped put a humorous spin on this. PS - Can't wait for a good poop!

  • Glad it turned out as advertised! I do see the humor in almost every situation that happens to me. A free pass for passing gas! What more could you ask for???

  • soju is a sweet potato vodka....yummy and goes down real smooth... my dad get it at asiana's market.

  • Yes, it is, and yes it does. I had some on Pusan. Actually, maybe too much in Pusan.

  • well then.

  • Yes, quite well. Well, at least 'normal'.

  • Been there, done that - no cameras please. I know about the favorite socks - I always wear mine for this procedure!

  • hehe u look great in that robe lol

    this is all quite educational!

  • Thanks. Part of the idea was to be educational, part to be funny.

Actually, getting a colonoscopy was NO BIG DEAL at all. And, I now know I don't have cancer or polyps.

  • that's good :-)

  • Bill, you my friend are a lucky man... for my pre-op, i had to drink about 3/4 gallon of Bisacodyl solution, an 8oz glass every 10minutes, that nauseated you like nothing else could. I'm hoping i won't have to do that again for another few years...

  • Thanks! The good news is this new protocol is not revolting at all. It may help more people get over the reluctance to getting one of these done. Got any good protologist jokes?

  • Oh more than plenty but, they are definitely not clean in nature... haha, I mean, how do you make talking about ... umm... that area, a clean subject? At any rate, glad you have a "regular ass", er your intestines got a thorough cleaning, i mean everything was normal.

  • Cool. It would have been better had they given you actual colonoscopy footage :)

  • medically, yes. But... they said, if I had video of the event, I would regret it later. The doc said, I'm a regular ass... no, wait, he said my colon was normal... same thing.

  • Awesome! Bill, you are the man.

You're doing the same thing all patients do under anesthesia...babble, and it's SOOooo funny :)

    Glad you're "normal"

    :D

  • Thanks, Lisa. I'm glad you appreciate my whacky sense of humor.

  • I'm glad that you shared this. I know that some people can be afraid because they don't know what to expect.

  • That's exactly why I shard it. It was NO BIG DEAL. The anxiety was much worse than the procedure.

  • hah, I now know some people who are scared BECAUSE they know what to expect. There's not a single nurse I know that gets these like they're supposed to...can't say I blame them!

  • Back when I worked in the dental office it was a little odd because I knew EXACTLY what was being done in my mouth when I was the patient.

I still had it done because putting it off meant bigger problems down the road.

Maybe if they went to a Dr. that they did not know as personally. I'm sure I would not want someone I knew a little too well rooting around in my pooper.

  • I need to get this done this year. I'm more concerned about getting ill from not eating with my low blood sugar than the actual procedure. I had a similar one done years ago so I know exactly what to expect and the not eating thing was the worst part.

  • and your nasal cannula wasn't in your nose! My son has Crohns disease...he has a video here also...I think his name is pprpooper...[and no I'm not kidding]-but a colonoscopy is very important...glad you had a good outcome. all my best...fibula2

  • you aren't wearing lipstick...are you, bill?

    bottoms-up!

  • ha ... you say that like it's so wrong ... but ... no, for some reason, my lips are chapped to a frazzle. I think it's due to a change in my meds (Caduet 5/40 to Caduet 10/40 to lower my BP) but the doc says use aquaphor and see if it goes away.

  • lol Bill, I love the 43Things reference at the end :)

  • it was worth doing. And I'll get to do it again. For those of you ... "of a certain age" ... fear not. It is no big deal. Even I, the big scaredy cat that I am, survived this.
