Additionally, having watched a longer clip of the video, I'd like to add that Fox, as they often do, took the quotation somewhat out of context. Muhammed al-Arifi does not, in the video, condone the beating of wives - he means to emphasize that seriously beating one's wife is NOT acceptable.
We can all read the Qu'ran, or a translation of it. It is not news that violence is occasionally accepted in Islam. As it is in most other religions. If you want to point fingers, start with your own.

I think it's important to remember that when Islam emerged, it was an extremely liberal religion that drastically lowered the number of wives a man could have, and abolished the execution and/or serious beating a woman in that day and age could recieve for any kind of disobedience.
My point is, Islam does not advocate beating your wife MORE, but LESS. Of course, in Christian propaganda like that of Fox, the subject is twisted to match whatever sick idea they wish to impose on you.
