In my opinion, because they are trying WAY too hard and not playing it straight. They positively radiate with "oooh look I'm going to be in a WACKY sketch. See? Look how wacky we're being." Being an NYC resident whose been to the UCB theater, this is kind of the problem with UCB. You've got the awesome foursome who starred in the CC series, PLUS a whole lot of amateurish and just plain bad actors who think they are a "hoot." It kind of makes the UCB banner meaningless, no quality control.
