I've gone thru all the steps you listed, but how do you actually 'use' the new character? Typically you would have a certain key on your keyboard that would be associated with the new character. I'm good right up til the end.

This is a nice video,but this isn't some "Hidden Program" that is kept from the public eye,in fact i knew of it numerous years before seeing this,it's for exactly what you are showing,making your own symbols,say you want to make a special symbol that you need to use in a powerpoint but that isn't on your keyboard,well voila there you go.
