  • I don't buy all the environmental stuff here, but there's no doubt it's healthy. Unfortunately, it's hard to reach people from such an extreme place. People hear you talking about airy-fairy stuff about the planet and they're immediately turned off. How about, it's healthy and it tastes really good? Something that doesn't make me feel like I'm at a political rally or planning a coup down in someone's basement.

  • Beautiful. thank you for sharing. 1LOVE!!!

  • is that a Styrofoam cup in the fella's hands at 2:09? i sure hope not.

  • @RedFishKilla ya it is..i was there yesterday for the first time and saw that they use styrofoam cups a lot...

  • Haha AWESOME Video!!

    I absoulutely loved it!

    Thanks for posting it!

  • Gorilla Food is a joyful and healing place. Every time I go there I feel deeply nourished, happier and more connected. This is a beautiful and inspiring short film. Thank you for making it.

  • this is the only place to eat in Vancouver ... beware the other "vegan" spots they are not organic, not vegan and mostly run by COOKED MEAT EATERS!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Not the only place. I'll just say produce store Aaron was shopping at also has a raw organic menu, & yes a cooked one too. I like both places. But I like going downtown less. However now I'm eating near totally raw I'll be making the trek more often

  • go raw!!!

  • wonderful thing, I like cool places, and also that garden looks great

  • Good work, Eli. I'm proud.

  • one mans compost pile is another mans buffet

  • Yes! Yes! I feel Blessed!

Gorrila Food rocks my world! I love the atmosphere in the new cafe, and the vibes are so positive....

eating PARTS of animals scares me a little...But raw organic love makes me happy...

Thanks for being part of the solution, AAron Ash!!! You contribute so much to wellness...BIG UP!!!!

  • Aaron's vegan organic raw food is DA BOMB! Every time I eat there I feel amazing. The Raw Fudge has changed my life --full of flavor and antioxidants I'll admit I have a bit of a habit...Thanks Aaron for putting so much love into your food. And to all you...um, I'll be nic... people, who made silly comments about the hair, facial or otherwise, I have been part of several food establishments and Aaron is VERY serious about cleanliness. The only way to know is to go!

  • a vegan is someone that cant eat anything with a face isnt it?

  • ,,,someone who cannot eat animal products, like milk or eggs, or of course, meat.

    ...i hope you were joking

  • OMG. I used to be a vegetarian when I was 19-20. It was a spiritual journey of cleansing to me. I could not eat something killed. I hated vivisection. Murder of animals is stupid. Then, I unfortunately got back on the meat at McDonald's. Now, I am so fat, but I love fast food. I love raw foods as well. If a fast raw food drive thru happened in my neighborhood, I probably would go back to being a vegetarian. I would probably still drink Diet Coke and Diet Pepsi though.

  • Raw foods are great in the summertime - but I'm trying to eat local and bio-regional food, and if I don't eat cooked foods in the winter, then what I'm I going to eat? Just carrots and apples? And raw potatoes and raw garlic and some raw squash? Lettuce doesn't keep well through the winter months. And most fruits and veggies don't. But I do like what they're trying to do - I just think they should reconsider what they serve during the winter months maybe, for locavores.

  • dude needs a good shave

  • 6.36 this man needs to get a life, How many times has he been in this, has he no-where else to go HAHA.

  • Wish there were places like this in Bangalore. I'm vegan as it is but I'd love for raw foods to be a larger part of my diet than they are right now.

  • Nice piece. That's funny, at .58 the "Real McCoy" is used to describe the vegan restaurant, which originated as praise for STEAK: wiki/Joseph_McCoy

  • This vid is here to educate & bring awareness to those who are not as ignorant as some who have made aweful comments.Seems like a waste of energy for those who have nothing better to do than to criticize the choices of an individual. What do you care how someone else chooses to live their life?some comments have been cruel.not into this lifestyle, then don't choose it.Its rather simple.Kudos GF & to every individual that choses to live their life the way they see fit.

  • the raw food movement is not the be-all-end-all, but needs to and will have a strong influence on the evolution of the human diet. ps there are other ways of breaking down foods into digestability such as marinating, blending, or fermenting

  • lol. hippies.

  • What a bunch of fags.

  • Don't get me wrong..I like and buy organic foods, and non-toxic products..

but, one thing to remember there are 6 billion people in the world..a lot more people since the days of horticulture..agricultural technology feeds the huge population the earth now holds..

  • Modern farming also strips nutrients from the topsoil, replaces them with toxins from the fertilizers and pesticides, and pollutes waterways via the runoff.

It's not just about us, but the whole ecosystem.

  • But all in all, this guy runs an awesome business!

  • Yay Aaron!

  • Great job on this documentury! Very stong style. Shows the directors skill level and thorough treatment to the subject matter. Wonderful subject too!

  • Gorilla Foods is amazing. Every time I eat there i feel vitalized like drinking coffee with out the jitters and the sour belly

We love you Aaron and we feel the love you put out.

    Great film.

  • did you know that pesticides are chemically identical to VX nerve gas?

  • Much Kudos to you Aaron! :D

  • fuck it we're gonna die someday anyways. why not have big mac before i kick the bucket?

  • lovin the facial hair

  • Neat video, quite informative but how come none of Gorilla Food's finished dishes were showcased?! I mean seriously the vid is about healthy organic FOOD and the restaurant that cooks it up and we didn't see much of that.. just prep work. Doesn't really get me curious enough to go down to the place because I don't even know what's on their menu.

    My 2 cents

  • Its not advertisement, its suppose to encourage us to eat or atleast try foods similar to those that Gorilla Food makes.

  • Menu is at gorillafood . com

  • I wish we had a place like that... i would still eat meat though

  • i was raised on my parents joke... they fed me marijuana straight for the first five years of my life and now i feel like shit

  • AMAZING!

  • cool

  • shave!

  • I grew up eating raw organic food For years I had belly aches & other body functions out of balance An Ayervedic DR informed me I need cooked food as I am VATA dosha It was VERY difficult for me at first but the results were immeadiate RAW CAN be very good for alot of peopleBUT I have learned that listening to your body is always best. BE WELL

  • Overcooking can destroy vitamins and other nutrients in fruits and vegetables, but proper cooking can make some foods easier to digest, therefore more nourishing. Yes, man is the only animal that cooks its food. We're also the only animal that drives cars, writes novels, and jerks off to Internet porn. We're a tool-using species. We adapt and modify nature for our needs. That's what we have thumbs for.

You want to eat raw food like a fucking ape? Then go live in a fucking forest.

  • interesting

  • Raw food is soooo much better. Organic, all natural and builds health. Processed, packaged, fast food has chemicals meant to kill you over time. Google codex alimentarius and wake up!

  • bullshit hippies.

  • yea dude i'm from bc and i know pussie hips like that. paranoid about chemicals and bullshit

  • i still cant believe VFS would allow people like these to give em a bad name.

  • What an uneducated moron you are!

Eating organic & healthy requires forethought & effort unlike how you probably choose to live.

Since eating organic & vegetrn I haven't been sick in a year & 1/2. People who choose to eat like you are on medications for heart disease, diabetes, cholesterol, blood pressure.

Keep eating genetically modifed, hydrogenated oiled, over processed crap. You can die faster leaving more space for those who care about themselves care & the planet.

  • The only thing I eat raw is my girlfriend.

  • Wow, that was a pathetic video.

"You can feel the love" - stupid woman.

  • what the hell? why go to a restaurant where they don't cook food? I'm all for eating fresh fruits and veggies, but I can prepare uncooked food perfectly well in my own home.

  • I suppose that it's a matter of convenience during the day

  • Veggies are best for the human body - kool video

  • not really, I turned vegan for five years because I couldn't get myself to eat meat; I took supplements and ate a lot of vegetables and beans to get my protein and iron, but eventually the lack of choice made me resolve to a lot of junk food (because vegan is hard to buy), I got really sick and had to be hospitalized because of nutrition defiency. Meat isn't so bad if moderately eaten. Bitches.

  • Raw food is great because it still has the enzymes in it, that our bodies have to supply to digest the food. So, when you eat the raw foods, your body only has to supply some/less of the enzymes.

This is where raw foods help us! :-)

  • Will check it out next time im in Van...

  • Nice documentary.

  • Looks like a pretty dirty and shitty place to live

  • I bet he heats his mary-juh-wanna up past 118 F

  • vai c fode the dog's

  • type in STEROIDS SUPER POWERS

  • Most people fail to understand that the protein from meats is what sparked our evolution to become more than the lumbering mammals we once were. I'm all for eating healthy and natural, but let's face it, meat is what brought us to the top of the food chain. To abandon meat is to deprive your body of what made us what we are today. At least eat sushi!

  • Right! Eating raw fish must be what makes the Japanese such smart little buggers!

  • i'm a vegetarian

so i can't really insult them

    but yeahhh

they should really cook the food

  • ROFL! "YOU CAN TASTE THE LOVE"

    omgroflmfaowtfomgrofl!!!!!1

  • ROFL! I guess these people have never heard of salmonella or listeria. There's a reason why we humans have figured out its a good idea to cook food.

BUT, I guess if these striving-to-be-radically unique idiots want to eat raw food, they're welcome to.

  • If you switch to a veterinarian diet salmonella and other primarily meat based pathogens don't really come up very much. Though clearly there are exceptions washing vegetables is going to cover a good deal. For the rest you need to cook.

I haven't seen any distinct advantage to raw food but I don't see any distinct disadvantage either. I guess in the end you are saving energy from not cooking. I don't think I will switch from pesci-ovo though unless I can see a reason.

  • Do you mean vegetarian?

  • Yes thank you for the clarification.

Auto spell check on Firefox. Didn't even notice.

  • I see. Mine said I spelled it wrong but I don't think it has the word in the programming so I added it.

  • yeah I can't even contemplate purchasing raw meat/storing in my refrigerator considering how dirty it is.

  • one advantage of raw foods is that they have not lost any of their nutritional value from cooking and preparation. (boiling, baking, and microwaving degrades most of the nutrients in plant foods.) some things like garlic are better off mashed and prepared, but most fruits and veggies are not - and you should eat the peels when you can! unless you're not eating organic, then you might want to peel things. unless of course you have digestive problems.

  • if that is the case, you'd want to skip the raw veg *and* the peels.

  • While there may very well be more nutrients in raw food, our bodies can't always make use of them until the cell walls are broken down, which something like a light steaming would do.

Wikipedia also has some info on other concerns (search for Raw Foodism).

I'm all for veganism, just make sure you're basing your diet on science and not hearsay.

  • duuuuuuuude where's my car

  • Ohh. I wish they had something similar in my city..

    Great video :0)

  • What a bunch of poser emo lemmings. Go buy a bag of carrots. You will save a fortune. For what these assholes are shelling out for one meal, they could buy a weeks 'raw' vegetables from an organic grocery. All vegans want to be seen as enlightened tragic heroes who have evolved beyond the rest of us barbaric meat eaters. Obviously not evolved enough to eat an apple or carrot but tragic enough to be so stupid to pay 10bucks for a plate of vegetables. Go to Africa and say you're vegan you emo fag.

  • except for the last sentence, i agree with your comment 100%

  • And people are living longer and longer and longer. 50 yrs old was considered extremely old in the 1800's, and now it's close to 70.

I think it's great that these guys are eating what they like, and I'm all for that, but being lectured by wacko nut jobs whose parents never grew out of the 60's.

Hey! Tie dye is coming back! I bet these guys are stoners.

  • i love this video... after all you are what you eat...who wants to put all those pesticides n crap in ur body...

  • this guy is my hero! god bless your soul man! I will come learn from you some day!

  • this guy is my hero! god bless your soul man! I will come learn from you some day!

  • Very nice work. Unbiased...you let the story tell itself.

  • Only 25% chin hair

  • well produced

    vancouver ftw

  • Makes me regret the Jimmy Dean pancake-and-sausage on a stick I just ate. Must eat healthier... Nice vid!

  • uhh this video is waaay to long to look at.. ohh well Happy b day miley grt pics on dEfspot com

  • Ill stick with my steak, chicken, and other tasty animals

  • I'd eat his food if I wasn't so sure his hair was in it.

  • A very clean video.

  • Great video

  • I really think we all should start detoxifying... she says as she puts her hand back into the doritos. XD

    I'm kidding, great documentary! :)

  • Made me miss Vancouver...thanks for posting

  • whole foods is my food savior.

  • I LOVE whole foods! :D Great whoopie pies!

  • nice vid.

anyway, aaron is cute, i just couldnt help but ask... is he gay? coz i find his way of speaking kinda weird. but he is cute really. despite the beard and everything.

and the guy with the milkshake... is he acting? he's not natural at all. i thought this was supposed to be like a docu.

but i still like the vid as a whole. 9 out of 10.

    way to go!!!

  • If we had one of theese places in my neighborhood I would eat there almost EVERY DAY!

  • cool, but he could use a shave

  • one of the bestg vfs films yet. very good documantary.

  • wow, that's pretty cool. I wish I lived in Vancouver.

... I bet you anything it's super expensive, though.

  • never put a price on your health... i mean i dont.

  • thank you thank you thank you

  • I want to eat there!!! I'm not a vegan, but I do believe in eating FRESH, ORGANIC FOODS and living a healthy life. We need tons of places like this...and ones that are open late too! :)

  • You are a jerk.

  • Awesome! I really do wish there were more places like that.

  • nice...i wish that guy would shave his face tho

  • I would eat there! :D Great vid. Thx to all.

  • Where is it? Somewhere in NYC, right?

  • I thought somewhere in Canada, but only because it's shot by the Vancouver Film School. :)

  • pretty sure it's in Vancouver, which is situated in Canada :D

  • Vancouver

  • Hungry....

  • This doc is the hottest thing on the net. However, I feel that certain people in this show did not "deserve" the particular frames they were being given by the very talented camera man. Is the camera operator of this show by any chance Icelandic?

  • very interesting video

  • Great stuff! Keep it up!

  • Bravo! Fantastic editing and filming!

I'm no vegan, but I believe in healthy living.

    Cool Beans!

  • A great documentary.

  • Excellent production, you all should be very proud.

    spider.

  • it was awesomeness, the only thing that i would change is the people, they just creep me out a little...with his facial hair and such. but great movie!

  • it wasent a "movie" it was more of a documentary

  • How right you are. This "wasent" a "movie." But it wasn't "more of a documentary" either. It's actually a full length theatre play set in the early 1500's.

  • kewl...thanks or clearing that up:D

  • This guy has a vision for his business, nicely conveyed by Eli Semotiuk's video. I wish both all the best.

  • Well done video. Concise with their information, edited with vision.

  • I couldn't be a vegetarian but I could follow a organic way instead. If this could work it's way into the mainstream then things would be better.

  • Alright, i'm so heading there to try it out. Where exactly on Richards Street is it located?

  • it's on Richards st, in between West Hastings and West Pender! Just south of the Waves!

  • Great, thank you!

  • Awesome video! I'm always looking for places like this, but there never seems to be anywhere that's vegan AND organic. The world is just not very vegan friendly right now, and Gorilla Food definitley seems to be a major stepping stone and setting a great example for the food/restaurant industry as a whole. I hope it catches on!

  • Those fucking vegans are skinny, they could use some mcdonalds!! America shows its wealth through its fatness! Don't they know that!!!

  • umm... no

not everyone in America likes Mcdonalds

  • He's got a million dollar industry going there. In a few years there will be a chain. No doubt.

  • great piece! didn't bore me one bit:)

  • wow... I should head over there someday and try =)

  • Great little documentary.

  • pretty neat. i wanna try the chocolate shake...

  • I'm 15, I've been vegetarian for over 5 years and i've never felt, looked better. I turned my entire family vegetarian. It's a great life style.

  • my family makes fun of my little vegetarian brother. lol

  • Cool! Really well done and fascinating topic.

  • FIRST COMMENT WOOT OMG!!!
