The "Downward Spiral" name almost definitely comes from NIN, but this song is definitely a Prodigy spoof.

I fucking love this.
Also, it's a PRODIGY parody idiots. I don't even see any NIN in here.

The chorus sounds like KMFDM meets Ministry, sounds pretty cool, lol.

definately a prodigy parody.

The prodigy? I'm guessing, by the sound of it and the fact that the fake band is "Downward Spiral" that it's a NIN spoof.

I hear "break down complex things," not "wigged out complex things." XD Either way, great video and obviously a great show too.

Thanks for the post. I have the Patterns episode on tape, but the tape ran out about 15 seconds after the music video started, so thank you for posting this.

Sounds a bit like "Fire Starter" meets "No Good (start the dance)" by The Prodigy

With a bit of "Breathe" thrown in during the chorus.

See the flower(ed) paper hangin on the wall
Wonder how long it took to paint them all
But then I noticed they all repeat
It's all a pattern don't you see it
Patterns help explain without complex things
Listen to the music that moves your feet
You'll find a pattern in the beat
And math and nature have patterns too
Like a spiral take a few

It also could be "Wigged out complex things".
It was close, I really couldn't tell. It sorta sounds like wiGGed out, but with the low level of enunciation you can't really tell.
It's definitely "wigged out". I'll agree with you on that.

I'll post lyrics after I get home from school.
I understand it easily, Lavaflows was harder than this to me.
Now I see what you mean. I can understand a lot less of this than I could understand of "Lavaflows".

If I didn't know this was Bill Nye...i woulda sworn it was really The Prodigy.
Best. Nye. Parody. Ever.

i'd agree the vocal style is very much like prodigy. accent and pronunciation
tomfrankly 3 years ago
yeah, i hear that. and the whole look of the performers isnt very Trent either
but i still hear NIN in this
the whole feel at around 25 seconds into it, y'know, with the loud, harsh beats
but then again, its bill nye. so me overanalyzing it won't solve much

i think its nine inch nails being parodied
the name of the band being downward spiral, the same as their 1994 album
and it sounds like them too
Nah, this is DEFINITELY Prodigy. NIN never did upbeat dance stuff like this.
And listen to how he pronounces stuff, like "wallpap-AH." That's definitely the Prodigy guy, not Trent.
Totally prodigy
