This is magic! I can't stop watching it. I have loved this album for 20 years since being introduced to it via my older brother. LOVE this sound and the whole vibe of the 70's era.
Amazing how good they were, still sounds good after 35 years. You can see that the songs where still fresh at this time and they enjoyed playing them.
I recently recorded the last 2/3's of this concert on VH1 Classic and I'm just blown away by how good these guys were. I was mainly familiar with their top 40 stuff but songs like "I'm just a Kid", "Laughing Boy" and "Is it a Star?" blew me away!!
I definately think Darryl Hall resembles one of the Carradine brothers. Not the Kung Fu guy or the "Nerds" guy, but the other one.
drummer Eddie Zyne still plays .. hes drummed with the Monkeys, 2 different versions of Foghat.. and currently hes in Dreaming in Stereo and The Livesays!!!!
I remember seeing this on tv and was eagerly awaiting seeing them live in Jan.1977, they didn't disappoint... and no wonder Daryl can hit those high notes, those jeans are soooo tight...
This song reminds me of the late 70s when my best friend's father died and she cried on my shoulder right through the shoulder pads of my chocolate brown velvet jacket... funny to remember such a detail isn't it?
Oh yeah, the weird thing is this, it was about 1976, her dad had cancer. Also, growing up, there was an abandoned luncheonette across the street from where we lived.
I'm seeing some David Bowie here...
