How could I dump the BIOS without having to get the chip from the mainboard. In some boards they say it's in /dev/mem/ but that doesn't seem to be the ROM. Is it possible to have access to the ROM where the BIOS is while using the OS?
@foxtownstudios You can get access to the bios through the os. There was a program I used back in the day, forgot the name after all these years. Just Google around a bit.
@Frap357 i also think it's a bit of an inconvenience.
i think coreboot's focus is to just initialize the basic hardware and launch the operating system. nowadays it's the os that manages fan speeds and hardware access, not the bios.
Good one , more time to this topic would be great!!!

There are no setup screen with menus.
You cant change DRAM voltage, overclock, see fan rpm speed, enable/disable ports, peripherals and chips.
Cant do anything at all.

@yoshi314 sometimes you don't have an operating system install and need check temperature and fan speeds in the BIOS.
AMI, Award/Phoenix can check CPU temperature, voltage, fan speed in BIOS. So I want it in coreboot too.
