  • IT DIDN'T LOOK REAL AT ALL... no gravity when they drop in the tub turns

  • im gonna make something like that in cinema 4d

  • Can you tell me please how do you priview this animation in Window or how you did the animation no not animation i mean when i preview my animation in window with Raytrace it only shows things i made no reflection Just cube How?

  • does it take the rotation energy into account?

  • I believe reactor does, but I didn't spend a lot of time setting up the friction (rolling and otherwise), so it looks a little "off."

  • it looks as the balls are accelerating during fall, but their speed during the horizontal movement is very constant. that might imply friction caused by rotation reversal after the fall.

  • how do I subtract object matters from 3d max

  • is this a game?

  • No,its a animating software

  • those marbles defy the laws of physics..

  • yeah Haxors

  • no they dont, there moving down the whole time, it just keeps switching from a side to a top view.

the animation could be sped up a little though, as the balls don't move fast enough through the whole contraption, especially when falling down through the u turns

  • y 1 mierda las bolas no bajan tan despacio

  • no offense, but you could do way better with maya

  • That's too rad. I love these Rolling Ball Sculptures.

  • That's Awesome!

    Yes It's a good work!

    If concerning Physics,

    That would be perfect!

Hope one day I will see your further, better works!@@

  • Sorry, how did you make the U-downturn? Was that Bend function in Modifier list?

    Thank you.

  • I drew the rail pieces as splines and lofted a small circle on each for the finished shape.

  • can you make a video on how to do a rolling ball in the program you used? the program i use is called 3ds max 2009 or somethink like that.

  • can you tell me were u got this???

  • If you don't even know where to get it, you'll probably fail at it. Like 90% of the people out there

  • That's pretty awesome. It took me a while to realise it wasn't real! The balls don't sem to move quite right which is a little offputting. But cool none-the-less.

  • sup, japanbreakfast, dont listen to these guys, Its just fine...

  • Im not much for digital, but it looks really cool.. I like the star pattern.

  • Thanks. I want to build a real track one day, but for now this is all I have time for.

  • You: this sucks

    Me: Whatever.

    You: ans

    Me: Is that a word?

You: its on a computer or something

Me: Right. It was built in 3DS Max, like it says in the title and in the notes.

    You: and its fake

Me: Right again! Like most computer simulations, this shows geometry that doesn't exist in the "real world."

  • This has been the most retarded comment I have ever read on youtube... you just got a special place in my memory. Seriously how the hell can you even think that this is real? You can clearly see that it's 3d...

  • dude...like he said it was made in a computer software........It say's and I qoute. "this shows geometry that doesn't exist in the 'real world.'"

  • Whatever. It's still better than jittery videos of loudspeakers and cars.

  • Looks awesome, but it would be even cooler if it were a real-life contraption and not just a computer animation.

  • Thanks -- I couldn't agree more. I love the real machines. I hope to build one this winter. I'll post video if successful! :D

  • Wow! Good luck with it!

  • yeah i hope you get to make a real one too. good luck. by the way this one was pretty cool. :)

  • Yeah, man, you totally gotta build one of these things! Challenging, but SO much fun!

  • That would make an awesome new years countdown thing! A huge tower like that, and every time a ball hits the ground, a number drops!

  • where did you get it

  • The software or the model?

If software: I used 3DS Max at work (we use and recommend Blender now).

If model: I made it in 3DS max (It's made up of really simple wire model segments repeated many times).

  • It's good, but the weight is carried a little strange. You can especially see this when the balls drop.

  • Thanks. Yeah -- there are definitely a few quirks in the motion, especially during the third cut and at the end. This could probably be improved by tweaking object, material, and physics engine settings.

  • Its as if the gravity needs to be increased or when there's less hit detection move faster. And the ground at the end could make the balls react a little more bouncy, but the balls need more weight at the same time. This is definitely cool though, great work!

  • Good CGI But it needs more to it and needs to be faster

  • Nice man good job. The local mall has a 40ft one of these, lol. So i know what it looks like when a ball roll in a tube. Good job, lol.

  • sorry but I know that all of it is computer generated. it is breaking the laws of gravity.

  • How is it breaking the laws of gravity?

  • Because they all travel the same speed, even when they are going up. At the same time, if a ball rolls down 50 feet of track virtically, (oops, cant spell that) it cannot go up a hill of 50 feet tall, even if it is going up a ramp.

  • At no point in this video are the balls travelling upwards so I do not know what you are talking about in that regard. However in terms of a ball rolling down a hill and being able to climb the same height again, this is not possible yes, however what does that have to do with the film of balls rolling through a matrix that is sloped constantly downwards, there is no point where the balls have to overcome gravity, the whole machine is being powered by it.

  • I think that top view was mistaken for a side view.

  • Holy crap, that trips me out now, looking at it as though it is a side view.

  • achso ok dann hab ich nix gesagt

  • thats to slow

  • It's also a test film.

  • ...that was a great video... The rendering came out wonder full... Also the metal balls physics at the end where pretty great to.. Hope to see more

  • Thanks! I've been learning Blender and using it pretty much exclusively for the past several months. I think I'm starting to get good at it. I'll post some more stuff soon! :D

  • Wow that was with blender?... I suck with blend...I hate the interface, but if you can more power to you :D

  • Oops -- This video was made in 3DS Max. I meant to say that since posting this one, I've picked up Blender. Sorry for the confusion! :)

  • I should also mention that I hated the Blender interface at the start. My boss wanted to switch to an all open source production pipeline (dropping 3DS and picking up Blender). I went kicking and screaming! But after a few months of tutorials and a lot of practice, I love it!

  • Hahahhahaha..I still love 3d studio max....It's my safe zone :D

  • How did you make the tubes? (using loft or something) to make it bend like that?

  • Sorry for the late reply. Yes -- I lofted the rails, for use in the phsx sim, but the rings are purely cosmetic.

  • Cool.
