I also agree. Believe it or not, I imagine a lot of these users are adults. Why would you act that way? If you wouldn't act that way in real life, why act that way online? If you are rude to people online, you can hurt them just as much as in real life. He doesn't have to make these videos, so stop being rude! Think before you post! (tell your friends lol)
@DarkGeek24 I understand where you may have thought it was a voice evac but I do hear voices but it's probably just SimplexTech talking to his partner or members of the school's staff
ok the thing I am wondering is what is the difference in opening a pull station with the key as I've seen you (and others) do vs. actually pulling the lever??
@peakster753 The only difference is if you pull the lever, you'd have to open the pull to reset it. The pull will trip the system whether the lever was pulled or you opened it with a key. When you're running a test, it's faster just to open the pull. The pull may also have break-rods behind the lever. Opening the pull bypasses that.
I've seen most of your videos, would you happen to have tested any horns that have the strobe lights as apposed to the lightbulbs? My highschool had a simplex system that sounded almost identical to this, but instead of the lightbulbs they had strobes. (Which imo aren't a very good idea for someone with a seizure disorder.
@tubemaster2703 Strobes are standard for current systems I'm afraid. They have added what's called a sync module to either the horns themselves or the panel that makes all the strobes flash at the same time and at the same speed to minimize the chances of them triggering seizures Plus a strobe can be set to a specific brightness which light bulbes can't.
Nice video. And yes, the last horn is dying. It saying: "Help me... take me down... dying please help... i lived... a long... life in... this building..." And so forth.
@SimplexTech Its closed now, but I use to work at a plywood mill and the most recent alarm sytem was Simplex that was installed in 1987. The building had mostly mechanical horns with a incandecent light that would light up with the horn, but in some areas of the mill they had electronic horns with the same incandecent lights. They were high pitched and I have never seen them in any other building. Do you know of them?
I am sick of people questioning this person... he knows what he is doing and because of all your judgments and stupid questions he will not take comments. I had a question that was not answered because of all the "simplex" know it alls
@jangofett1014 Those horns do not have circuit boards, just a coil that makes the horn vibrate against the diaphram which causes the noise. The diaphram on these old mechanical horns can be adjusted but in most cases I replace it with a new horn.
Dang that pu.l station that you used to set off the system at the beginning looks very old considering the FIRE" and PULL DOWN" labels were totally unreadable
Did the school originally have a Simplex 2001 panel or something before the 4005 was brought in? (It definitely looks like an '80s system of some sort.)
It sounds like Continuous at 0:41
