  • It sounds like Continuous at 0:41

  • Awesome video! I lobe the sound of those horns!

  • just curious how much would a simplex 4005 panel cost?

  • Nice Video!

  • What did the dying horn get replaced with?

  • @Gb755c If I remember right I still had my stash of 9838s. Those horns are junk.

  • Show me the horns show me the horns! :P and was this possibly at the same school building that you were at before with the Simplex 2901-9838s?

  • Is is fun inspecting the fire alarms?

  • boy you weren't kidding that last horn sounds like it's being choked to death lol

  • This is how the fire alarm sounded in my high school.

  • Holy crap. This fire alarm is furious and intimidating. It says, in no uncertain terms: you need to get your ass out of this building NOW.

  • @espiforenque He's a fire alarm technician you twit

  • I just know that they all sound like 9833s or 9838s

  • @SimplexGrinnell9838 would agree 100% per cent - you are correct.

  • @SimplexTech can you make a video of you reseting a 4005 panel?

  • @SimplexGrinnell9838 i think theyre all 9833s

  • I also agree. Believe it or not, I imagine a lot of these users are adults. Why would you act that way? If you wouldn't act that way in real life, why act that way online? If you are rude to people online, you can hurt them just as much as in real life. He doesn't have to make these videos, so stop being rude! Think before you post! (tell your friends lol)

  • Aren't there supposed to be visual notification appliances, too?

  • @TssCman123 These were grandfathered; the new section has them.

  • @SimplexTech How new is the new building?

  • @SimplexTech i suppose the part with the horn onlys looks like it could be in the mid 1980s

  • Are my ears playing tricks on me, or did I also hear a vocal warning horn in there, near the wood floors?

  • @DarkGeek24 Just plain old fire alarm horns at this building

  • @DarkGeek24 I understand where you may have thought it was a voice evac but I do hear voices but it's probably just SimplexTech talking to his partner or members of the school's staff

  • those must be really loud

  • ok the thing I am wondering is what is the difference in opening a pull station with the key as I've seen you (and others) do vs. actually pulling the lever??

  • @peakster753 The only difference is if you pull the lever, you'd have to open the pull to reset it. The pull will trip the system whether the lever was pulled or you opened it with a key. When you're running a test, it's faster just to open the pull. The pull may also have break-rods behind the lever. Opening the pull bypasses that.

  • YAAAAYYYYY! Your back!!! I wondered what happened to you! Thanks for new posts!! :)

  • great vid simplextech :) dont listen to the "tough guys" on here, your videos are very very good :)

  • I've seen most of your videos, would you happen to have tested any horns that have the strobe lights as apposed to the lightbulbs? My highschool had a simplex system that sounded almost identical to this, but instead of the lightbulbs they had strobes. (Which imo aren't a very good idea for someone with a seizure disorder.

  • @tubemaster2703 yes, lots of them, and strobes are a standard notification appliance.

  • @tubemaster2703 Strobes are standard for current systems I'm afraid. They have added what's called a sync module to either the horns themselves or the panel that makes all the strobes flash at the same time and at the same speed to minimize the chances of them triggering seizures Plus a strobe can be set to a specific brightness which light bulbes can't.

  • Were there any 2903 light or strobe plates?

  • @firealarmfreak5 if you didn't see any, then no.

  • At 2:10: quack! quack! quack! quack! quack! quack! quack! quack! quack! quack! quack! quack! LOL.

  • Nice video. And yes, the last horn is dying. It saying: "Help me... take me down... dying please help... i lived... a long... life in... this building..." And so forth.

  • @SimplexTech Its closed now, but I use to work at a plywood mill and the most recent alarm sytem was Simplex that was installed in 1987. The building had mostly mechanical horns with a incandecent light that would light up with the horn, but in some areas of the mill they had electronic horns with the same incandecent lights. They were high pitched and I have never seen them in any other building. Do you know of them?

  • @Wilby1977 yes.

  • @SimplexTech What will the system be replaced with? TrueAlert Speaker/Strobes?

  • Did u replace the dieing horn?

  • I am sick of people questioning this person... he knows what he is doing and because of all your judgments and stupid questions he will not take comments. I had a question that was not answered because of all the "simplex" know it alls

  • @Wilby1977 Thank you. If you want to email me your question on here I will do my best to answer it.

  • Interesting video. Thanks for posting.

  • Sounds like music because some of the alarms sound slightly different, probably because of age.

  • the last alarm horn sounds very weak broken circuit board

  • @jangofett1014 Those horns do not have circuit boards, just a coil that makes the horn vibrate against the diaphram which causes the noise. The diaphram on these old mechanical horns can be adjusted but in most cases I replace it with a new horn.

  • @SimplexTech are u a fire inspector or a marshall? And i need to fix my 4050 are those 4040 4050 or a 4051?

  • @jangofett1014 I work for Simplex doing repairs. And all those horn models you mention are obsolete - time for new horns.

  • @SimplexTech cool i want to be that how old do u have 2 be to join?

  • @ 2:13 it sounds like I could take out a rifle and shoot at some ducks. :-)

  • @snhtown9 - my thoughts exactly

  • Dang that pu.l station that you used to set off the system at the beginning looks very old considering the FIRE" and PULL DOWN" labels were totally unreadable

  • nice video. But too bad you only filmed the floor and not the school. Would have been cool to see the alarms and the strobes flashing.

  • @Jon3800 I doubt they have strobes.

  • @Tabby266 the original part of the building does not have strobes; the new part does (see part 2).

  • those sound like Simplex 9833s. very similar to your other 4005 video

  • Did the school originally have a Simplex 2001 panel or something before the 4005 was brought in? (It definitely looks like an '80s system of some sort.)

  • @wileyk209zback Not sure. I know the 4005 replaced the 4002; not sure what was there before that.

  • Love the echo. Were those 2901-9838's?

  • The fire alarm at the end may need repairs.

  • @firealarmfreak5 the horn got replaced with somthing else. I belleve it was a Spare Simplex 2901-9838
