The whip should work like the devil arm of Nero, but actually you dont really need it since the enemies are really fast and aggressively. However, you can pull the flying enemies towards you, and I just know it works against huge boss effectively. lol

Later in the game you can buy extra costumes. You get the sword in chapter 2 I believe. Check my text guide.
