  • I think I may enjoy revising my AS biology course now :D

  • At the paramedic level, they make you know all the different names of strokes, like Pontine, lateral and a whole host of others I can't remember, especially since I'm sick now.

I remember pontine b/c the word stuck in my head for some reason. But there are about 8 other types, and we have to know them all. I'm sure your wife remembers them all. I have to read them all the time, b/c we hardly get any stroke calls.

  • You make things like this seem less scary! Thank you!

  • Hi,

Can you post videos on "EKG" and how to read them? Especially the 12 lead ones. Plzz! Thanks

  • Fantastic video! I came across the knanacademy channel when I was doing my French Revolution exam last year. I rediscovered it today and found this particular video. Loved learning about it, very interesting. I had a Haemorrhagic stroke. If anyone has an AVM and going to have it treated by Stereotactic Radiosurgery, check my video! :)

  • the embolis.. or whatever is like a slow bus in the center lane XD

  • i love YOU KAHN, ,,,,THANKS BRO

  • Easy to understand. Thanks!

  • not a biologist or do i like biology since high school, but this clip is easy and clear to understand!

  • Ugh. All of these videos could have helped one week ago.

  • next video...?

  • I love you..:D

  • on your main Youtube page, under what playlist are these videos under? Biology? Organic Chem? please let me know so i can watch all these...you make is really simple to understand and i would like to watch all of them. Thanks.

  • @tfaruq24

On his site this is under Biology. I dunno about his youtube page, but go to his site if you want to watch it in order.

  • @hedonism13 Thanks, i'll check that out.

  • @tfaruq24 under Biology, at the very bottom they are the latest he's been adding. Hehe, I been keeping track for quite some time xD.

  • @SWEETAgirl20 Thanks, these "medical" videos are really helpful for me, i'll check it out

  • Could you make more videos about anatomy??? It would be of great help for people who study medicine...

  • @axius18 There is a channel called jono03 there are a few anatomy videos avaliable that you might find useful . Hope that helps.

  • Please do a video about Anemic patients

  • jesus christ khan....what are you a doctor? a mathsmatician? politician? economist? you just know everything about everything dont you lol

  • plxx plxxx do vids on COPD,emphysema

    hav an exam

  • plx do vids on COPD,emphysema

  • You wouldn't believe all the different types of strokes there were at the Paramedic level. I used to be an EMT-I. When I became a paramedic, we had to learn at LEAST 8 different types of strokes, by name and not general type: eg, pontine stroke.

It was a task so daunting, I was actually afraid I wasn't going to remember all the signs and symptoms for all the different strokes.

I haven't been that overwhelmed since I learned how to tie all the rescuers' knots that firefighters have to know.

  • This dude's most amazing skill is being able to write quickly with the mouse. Maybe he uses a pointer thinggie...

  • @DrQuijano He uses a tablet.

  • Is the nex video going to be about how to operate?

  • WTF his a doctor too, genius!

  • @woo216 No, he's not a doctor. But he explains stuff better than any doctor has to me (maybe because they don't have the time to.)

  • Please so more anatomy videos!!!

  • please cover brain avm's!

  • You're NOT a doctor??? holy crap dude!! you SHOULD be a doctor... thanks! that was beautifully explained!!

  • Sal always starts off with, "You probably know ... " Hell no I don't that's why I watch your videos!

  • You're truly a jack of all trades. What do you not know Sal? XD

  • Perfect,

Patients always think that the bleeding associated with a hemorrhagic stroke is the reason that dysfuncion occurs when the real reason is the downstream circulation is decreased.

  • @spazzmonster Bleeding does cause dysfunction. A haemmorhagic stroke exerts its effects through rupture of the involved blood vessel thereby depriving tissue of nutrients and oxygen (causing necrosis- which is the consequence of infarction). The presence of blood in the brain acts as space occupying lesion and directly compresses brain tissue (and other blood vessels) causing further damage. Hope that explains.

  • next one on how to reduce the risks of CHD

  • how do you know so much man, you know everything :O

  • I have a HEADACHE instead...

  • Fascinating. I would like to know (in your future video) which type of stroke is easier to recover from, or is easier for doctors to take control of. I would think, either way, it is vital to take care of within minutes and would guess that a hemorrhagic stroke would be easier to deal with by releasing pressure to the brain by stopping the bleeding and removing the excess blood.

  • @starward Recovery after stroke can be very difficult. In terms of best chances of recovery this depends on what part and how much of the brain has been damaged. This depends on what blood vessel was affected. The Bamford classification of stroke is widely used to determine prognosis. Btw. lowering the BP too quickly can be very dangerous post-haemmorhagic stroke (due to cerebral autoregulation) and can lead to further ischaemia.

  • Excellent!

  • I knew this video's coming up.

  • I've gone from just watching videos related to classes I'm taking to watching every single one just to improve my knowledge. Thank you Sal!

  • Thanks for making these videos, Shwan! :)

  • Sal could you please talk about lung disease? Or maybe pneumothorax and hemothorax?

  • If Sal used a scale of his brain it wouldn't fit on the screen because he's freakin SMART! (and yes brain size DOES matter at least according to one scientific opinion)

  • THAT'S NOT MAGENTA!

  • phenomenal video by khan academy

  • I'm taking an EMT class.. These are going to help me out thanks hahah.. :)

  • a guy had a stroke right in front of me and i didn't know what to do...

to this day i regret not doing anything...now i want to be a neurologist.

  • Lol this stuff grosses me out.

  • Strokes are brutal, thanks for the info. I wish I can watch this anytime my friends offer to go to a fast food joint, then I wouldnt want to eat anything

  • SaL Can u do some videos showing how does brain actualy work...? I mean whole CNS and PNS.. Etc

  • lol when I watch your video's they make me feel more smart because I know lots of things you tell already. So Instead of watching the video's about things I don't know, I watch the video's with the things that I already know, just because then I can say. Haha, I already knew that!

lol jk some words I didn''t know because I'm not english...

lol jk you get the point

  • Khan Academy is my favorite channel for sure!
