If you check out the phrase 'lounge lizard' you will find it is a phrase that has been around a while before being used as the name of any band. I would say it is in the public domain. So no need to get all bent out of shape because more than one band uses the phrase in a name. Heck a web design firm in NY is also using the name. Love the Austin Lounge Lizards!
Love this song! The first time I heard it was on the radio while I was driving. I had to pull over to the side of the road (not easy in mid-Manhattan) because I was laughing so hard, I was crying! I LOVE these guys! They are brilliant!
The Austin Lounge Lizards have been around as long as the Lounge Lizards, which also started out as a novelty band. Both bands were formed around 1980. The Austin Lounge Lizards are not a bunch of yahoos, nor are they members of the Tea Party. The founding members met in law school, and one of them went on to become a sitting judge. Their songs are liberal/progressive oriented satire. And they are excellant musicians. And I would wager that more people have heard of them than the others.
Just for confused people, this band is almost as old as the 'real' Lounge Lizards, and probably took the name before they heard of the other band--not so famous back then, and no Google to let you know if someone else out there was using the name, right? Don't take them so seriously--they are just having fun, are really pretty decent musicians--and the audience IS enjoying this.
the Austin Lounge Lizards have been a funny folk playing band for DECADES since 1980... you got it backwards son. These guys were FIRST! they are hilarious in person, storytelling and with actually decent music to go with their comedy lyrics. Just like Tom Lehrer, Weird Al, there's a welcome niche they fit in. so go find yours. as for this song, its SPOT ON

I am just curious. Can you use the name Lounge lizards, which already belongs to a great band, simply because you use the word Austin in front of it?
Is there a Boston Lounge Lizards? Is there a Detroit Lounge Lizards?
Whatever, if you want to hear music and not some novelty b.s. like this, youtube has the REAL LOUNGE LIZARDS, who are good. Not tongue in cheeck doodoo.
OH, this SHOULD be taken seriously...it is very fine, relevent satire that SHOULD hit home with those who actually BELIEVE the nonsence it calls out. Anyone too stupid to get that it IS satire and grasp the points it makes is beyond all earthly aid.
@amrak63 -- which kind of Christianity do you have in mind? It's just as true in my experience of liberal Christians, who are sure Jesus loves them, not those bible-thumping fundies. And pretty much true of most Christians. Jesus would have agreed, I think. "My father in heaven loves me, but not the Pharisees, the Sadducees, the heathens, or those who divorce and remarry!"
@DrSamba1 -- Don't feel bad, so is just about everybody, for something. But especially Ronald Reagan, Newt Gingrich, and Rush Limbaugh (all divorced and remarried).

Ok~ This is dumb, but a little funny.... in a stupid way.
As for the name- GET OVER IT! It's a name. If you're going to make remarks like these, check out the law.
And BTW
Don't watch it if you don't like it.

Satire that should be taken seriously? What are talking about? The old geezer singing is so "theatrical" if he could nudge you he would.
This isn't music. It is some novelty mess that is made for a bunch of drunk Texas idiots who probably belong to the tea party.

I found this MESS looking for the "Lounge Lizards" with Lury on horns. How did these geezers get away with using the name "Lounge Lizards"?
Notice how the funny's don't seem to work with the crowd.
If you want to hear real music, go to "youtube lounge lizards harlem nocturne"
These dopes ought to have the decency not to use the name Lounge Lizards.
Maybe they could change their names to "The Austin Rolling Stones".
What a tired piece of crap.

TVP4, I think anyone with at least a half of a functioning brain would know that this is a sendup. You can relax.

In perfect tune with the Steve Taylor bits "I Wanna Be a Clone" or "Guilty by Association".

So I'm assuming this whole thing is a joke. Perhaps the person who posted this should mention that lest someone take it seriously?

Guess you don't know the Austin Lounge Lizards or you'd know they do satire.

A fine sendup of the bad kind of Christianity.
