Honestly bro. I had nothing to do with the choice of song. I only found this while remembering you, hoss, shrek, girlyeyes, cptamerica, and snacks. I miss you guys, and although selfish of me, I sometimes I wish I had not come home. Our best days are behind us bros. "Essayons!"
I didn't know him personally, I had just arrived to the Battalion when he was killed. I hear he was tough on his soldiers, but fair. May he rest in Peace!
@kivicus what is your real name. I was there b4 and after iraq. u couldnt have been there long cuz 11th eng was deactivated shortly after we got back and i was sent to 2-7 inf for part of the reorginization of 3rd ID but 11th Eng reactivated a few years later but at Ft Benning or Ft Gordon, dont remember which one.
I was in his unit. I was attached to Bravo Company from HHC Company for little while and he was an ass hole when it came to training. Then I was removed from Bravo Company and put back in HHC and then I found out why his ass hole personality when it came to traing was so. Him training the soldiers the way he did and his actions in combat brought his soldiers home. He is a true, dedicated Army Soldier and If I had the chance to serve with him again I would do it in a heart beat.
@jackson251981 I dont know if you were at it, but on Monday, there was an assembly at a school named after him. They made a memorial with his flag, bricks from the tower that he was infront of and his military coin (Dont remember the name of the coins). But he was a great man and even though you were removed from his squad you were in the presence of a great hero, and thank you for your service in keeping this country free.
@deathknight6752 No I wasn't there unfortunately. I moved to Nashville Tn so I was unable to make it. I was here at home remembering Monday the 4th and I have his comeing up on the 14th.
his unit ran into 100 repblican guard soldiers on accident they knocked down a building they were hiding in. They were taking heavyt fire so he kicked his soldier off the .50 and killed over 75 of them. Then he was shot in the head by a sniper right as the sniper tower was blown up. This is the story from his XO who wrote the award I went to sapper shcool with him.
he got shot or something but anyways i go to his school and yes there is a school naimmed after him and i actually know his son!! i will alwyas honor him!
Yup,was a 12B for 11 years.1 year VietNam and 3 years on the DMZ in Korea.I served in SFC Smiths unit,The 11th Combat Engineer Bn,but at different times.
