Everyone has morals, and no one is perfect. Few muslims or christians believe in wars- it is only the extremists that start them. And the truth is, it takes much more than a youtube comment to make a person start or stop believing in God. It also takes respect- insulting someone (like calling them immoral) is not going to make them thoughtfully consider what you are saying. People want to listen to some good music- it is annoying to have so many pointless fights.

I was an atheist for most of my life, and then I found God. But no matter what I believe, this IS good music; great music even. And if someone honestly can't enjoy this music simply because of Belief, I pity them. Atheist or religious, Epica has something to enjoy and appreciate for everyone.

Why does a lot of people think that believing in God keeps people from reaching their full potential? If you think that if you believe in God you're not allowed to explore, prove, discover, and theorize about the origins of life, other intelligence in the universe, or even try to prove if there is life after death? You have to realize this is a stereo type! Nothing in the bible says that man cannot expand and explore and challenge the faults! Jesus can explain everything he didn't need silence.

God is not going to do everything for us and we know this. Gospel is used to prove when science can't prove. That's not saying that logic would bring crazy people who just want death to be different. Logic is lost on these people. But neither would religion bring them around to be moral, either. I don't know who taught me that hurting people who don't deserve it is bad or evil. I've always just felt that way. Yeah, I was religious in the past, but I don't need that to tell me that, either. It depends on what you grow up around, sure, but even if murder was widely accepted, that wouldn't make it right.

I don't really know? All I know is what I feel. I know that hunting down and killing someone, while they're screaming for you to stop, meanwhile you're baring down on them, heedless of their cries isn't something that I'd ever consider a good thing. I'm actually starting to think that Epica is a better band than Nightwish. The Divine Conspiracy is so much better than Dark Passion Play.
I really love how much heavier Epica is. Nightwish has just toned down the metal thing so much. Now they play Amaranth and Bye bye beautiful... *sigh*

The band has just become sloppy players when they have the ability to do such more. I mean where is the technical skills that existed in Wishmaster and Oceanborn?

I think in general I am a bit harder on Dark P.P. than you are, but basically we are saying the same thing. It wasn't a bad album as such (and admitedly calling them pop metal was going overboard lol), but I got tired of it after a week or two. Seemed weak. Or maybe I just dont like their new style, who knows...

i agree it since tarja's parting nightwish sounds more pop. Epica is more heavier and operatic vocals sounds more deeper and powerful but ever since I first listened to Epica I liked them more than Nightwish hands down.

I've never bothered comparing Nightwish to Epica or vice versa. I've always thought Epica to be more like After Forever anyway. But nevertheless, I love all three bands, and they all have their own original features.

Much as I enjoy this song, I can draw parallels between the two bands. Both bands are alike, but Epica is different because of its style. Adding classical pieces, a choir base, strings, to a growler, and an excellent selection of musicians who man a general rock layer, beneath the strings and voices. Added to the latin, and the depth of their lyrics, Epica succeeds in its way of making its songs very layered, and deep. Nightwish is different, and have taken a very different path since Tarja left

Why does a lot of people think that believing in God keeps people from reaching their full potential? God is not going to do everything for us and we know this. Gospel is used to prove when science can't prove. Science continues to expand and progress and create understanding and usage of the elements of the universe. Why would God be against that? He's not and anyone who tells you he is is sadly mistaken.

You don't understand. It's not about proving the bible wrong. It's about finally being rid of the #2 cause of death in this world. (the first one being time, which is a bullet we can't dodge.) Religion has outlived its usefulness. We don't need a book about some invisible creator to tell us to lead moral lives and we certainly don't need the fear of hell to persuade us into belief. Logic will win in the end. Of this I'm sure.

But theres still lots of people who don't live in society to be kind to others and help others in need and do deeds because it's the right thing to do. Well, first of all, the terrorists right now are on a religious agenda, so yeah, that's one tick for my side of the argument. That's not saying that logic would bring crazy people who just want death to be different. Logic is lost on these people. But neither would religion bring them around to be moral, either. I honestly believe that if most Christian people didn't have the fear of hell floating over their minds, they wouldn't be following this "God" in the first place.

I don't know who taught me that hurting people who don't deserve it is bad or evil. I've always just felt that way. Yeah, I was religious in the past, but I don't need that to tell me that, either. It depends on what you grow up around, sure, but even if murder was widely accepted, that wouldn't make it right.

I don't really know? All I know is what I feel. I know that hunting down and killing someone, while they're screaming for you to stop, meanwhile you're baring down on them, heedless of their cries isn't something that I'd ever consider a good thing. I wish people wouldn't take the words so literally. It's true that the Bible has things in it to tell people how to be better people, but so do other books. All this heaven and hell nonsense, and that someone walked the earth, having come from a virgin womb, and healed people with a simple touch. humans and many animals have something called conciousness. it has nothing to do with religion, it has to do with the kinetic link with others, like parents are with children, that makes them aware of pain they cause or if someone is in distress, etc. religion is someone of a creation of man's desire to be moral and make others moral as well.

I'm actually starting to think that Epica is a better band than Nightwish. The Divine Conspiracy is so much better than Dark Passion Play.
I really love how much heavier Epica is. Nightwish has just toned down the metal thing so much. Now they play Amaranth and Bye bye beautiful... *sigh*

Not sure why people gave you so many thumbs down for a non offensive opinion... but anyway, i tend to agree with you. I certainly prefer Epica to what Nightwish is today. That being said, my opinion of Nightwish has plummeted with the last album.
Bad times for symphonic metal imo... After Forever and Nightwish were right at the top for me and now, well, one is gone and the other sounds like watered down pop metal.
Epica is great though at least.

Thanks for agreeing with me. I love NW too, it's not that and I loved Dark passion play too when it came out, but recently I'm just bored with it and their live shows. The band has just become sloppy players when they have the ability to do such more. I mean where is the technical skills that existed in Wishmaster and Oceanborn?
It's bad times indeed for symphonic metal. But well... at least Epicas new album will arrive soon :D

I think in general I am a bit harder on Dark P.P. than you are, but basically we are saying the same thing. It wasn't a bad album as such (and admitedly calling them pop metal was going overboard lol), but I got tired of it after a week or two. Seemed weak. Or maybe I just dont like their new style, who knows...
I am actually quite new to Epica. Only started listening to them a few months ago. Great band, look forward to their new album.

i agree it since tarja's parting nightwish sounds more pop. Epica is more heavier and operatic vocals sounds more deeper and powerful but ever since I first listened to Epica I liked them more than Nightwish hands down.

Much as I enjoy this song, I can draw parallels between the two bands. Both bands are alike, but Epica is different because of its style. Adding classical pieces, a choir base, strings, to a growler, and an excellent selection of musicians who man a general rock layer, beneath the strings and voices. Added to the latin, and the depth of their lyrics, Epica succeeds in its way of making its songs very layered, and deep. Nightwish is different, and have taken a very different path since Tarja left

nightwish sounded whiny and "desperate" to make a gothic/symphonic metal band.
Epica did it better and sound more professional. Plus epica play along side orchestras and dont have it recorded or playing it over a keyboard.
