Maria Sofia Velazques is from Argentinian mother and Panamanian Father and she grew up in Argentina until age 16 or 17( I think) and then her parents move to Panama. She is very beautiful but she did not care to prepare for the MU then. What a shame cuz there were more beautiful girls that year in the Ms. Panama pageant that could have done a better work than her.

Actually Mexico wasn't 12th, she tied for 16th place. Just to give everyone some fun with placements. Slovak Rep took 10th place with 26.84, Australia 26.78, Russia 26.71, Thailand 26.64, Peru 26.56, Denmark 26.52, Estonia and Mexico got 26.49 (If tie were to be broken Mexico would go first as she had a higher interview score). Brazil 26.45, Poland 26.38, Guatemala 26.30, Namibia 26.20, Belgium 26.15, Puerto Rico 26.13 and Hungary 26.03
