John Kay and Steppenwolf was one of the reasons I wanted to start playing guitar when I was little kid. Saw 'em on the Smothers Brothers show all those years ago doing Magic carpet ride and after that I had to get a guitar. I stil love the music and the message on those Steppenwolf records and I'm still playing the guitar at 54.
