give the guy a break and give him benefit of the doubt! I taught my brother how to fly this plane yesterday and he did loops and everything too, and as for the transmitter, what's so bad about buying a Spectrum when those are about the best transmitters you can get!? You guys are just jealous.
yeah dumbass ive never flown either but if you have a good transmitter then it would be easier to fly.....I'm13 and I'm opening my super cub in a month for christmas with my dx5e
Im sorry, is there something wrong in buying a dx and flying ur first plane with it? I flew my first plane on on my dx6i. BTW good job on ur first flight man.
I also like all the first flight is bs comments. You did see 20 hours logged in a flight sim. That is a lot of flight time without losing anything. I could easily see this guy able to do this on his first flight. Good job man on your flight! That sim experience really helped you out a lot!
@AddictingRC My first time into rc, I spent somewhere around 1200+ dollars. heli, radio all the equipment to go with it. My first radio was a JR 6ch. So yeah, some people actually plan ahead when they research something, instead of just buying an rtf and crashing it. Especially if you got a friend that is in the hobby that helps to guide you along.
thats not ur first flight... we can obviously see that u upgraded the airplane.. also it looks like ur holding a dx6i or a dx5e... who new to rc goes out and buys a $500 transmitter
was just flying this same plane 3 min or less ago, i ran the batteries dry lol, this is a beautiful aircraft, and has the agility of a strike fighter lol. great vid, and hope you have alot of fun with your super cub
i crashed mine on first flight bout 10 seconds in lol can fly real planes lol think was a bit heavy on the controls broke my prop :( gotta find spare somewhere:(:(
Nice shot at 3:37. Good thing you didn't confuse which plane you were flying! Nice landings, I'm gonna get one of these, too bad I only have a socer field in which to fly it. Not many choices when it comes to slow flyers.
Hehe, no, it is my first RC airplane flight ever. Since then, I've moved on though. I am now flying real airplanes! I earned my Private Pilot's License a couple months ago, and I'll finish my instrument rating by 07/2008 (next month). The passion for flight should never cease, good luck to all of you.
You know what, good job! I am training for my Private Pilot's license right now, is the written test hard at all? I love planes too, I bought the Super Cub yesterday!
The written is only hard if you don't study for it. Study a lot, and only be satisfied when your practice test scores are above 90%. Then take the real one and have a nice number on your permanent flight record. Good luck!
Yea, that's right. : ) I already had the DX7 from a helicopter and once you go Spektrum, you can never go back. The biggest difference though is simulator practice. I used FS One but anything will do actually. If you guys are doubting because you got an SC for Xmas last year and it's already in pieces, try a sim out. : ) You can get FMS for free online even. Good luck!
you must have act on. id never use that thing. people lose there planes to it all the time cuz just pavement, water, snow, or even car windshields can throw it off.
Yea, I have no ACT on this plane. I tore it out as one of the first mods I did to this plane. I actually use a Spektrum AR6200 so the stock ESC/RX unit was sold on eBay a long time ago. : )
just type in "fms download" into google and download it from there, your also going to need a usb cable for your transmiter, get one off ebay for a fiver and if not buy a sim with the transmiter included for like £20. like this for example for a tenner of ebay GAMERBIRD R/C Flight Simulator. just browse on ebay for more.
I hate how people think us rc pilots are nerds. I mean come on, what else beats flying your plane on a calm summer day with all of your friends. I can't think of any thing else can you. AVIATION 4EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!
where i fly the ol super cub we have a huge backyard which makes for great flying. Thanks for the vid. seems like everybody who gets these cubs crashes em right away. flight sims help a ton. I used fsone and now im up and flying 3d planes and giant scales.
Isn't technology amazing! I recently went out and bought the FS One r/c flight simulator and it really feels like the real thing. I'm used to flying high wing trainers in the past 15 to 20 yrs ago but now i feel like i'm ready to take on more sporty low wing planes using this simulator. It's an awesome flight simulator that is well worth the money!
wow! now thats what im talkin bout! ive never flown a plane, i have flown the blade cp heli! however i have flown all crafts in rel flight g3.5. its really easy in the sim! ive never flown a plane EVER!!!! im going to buy the h9 p51 mustang rtf. as my first plane! i just really dont have the money to buy , ohh wait,,,i flew a rc vamp! lol if that counts..you inspire me dawg! good flying!

Thanks for the compliment, the only experience I had prior to that was simulator on the PC. That's it ... : ) I also played around with the Blade CX2 indoor heli.
I am flying a high speed jet now, and have moved on from the SC but still fly it once in a while for relaxation. I have had the chance to fly several other beginner planes that belonged to other flyers at our field: the Multiplex Easy Star, the GWS Slow stick, and the HZ Firebird Commander. I still think the Super Cub is #1, and the Easy Star a close second.
I did the same thing when I started out. I used FS one and i started with the super cub. Fs one is a great software but the service at horizon hobby is somewhat to be deisred
Thanks for documenting your first flight. I've been enjoying Clearview and FMS sims for almost a year. I'm comfortable flying all the available clearview planes in basic maneuvers. I know the real world is harder but I plan to have a similar experience to yours when I finally get around to buying a first plane. My environment is a farm. An RC club is not an option.
Good to hear about your simulator work, it will pay off. As long as you can take-off, fly, and land in the simulator, you'll be good to go. A farm? I wish!! That sounds so ideal from all of us living in tight cities where parks and clubs are limited.
Awesome, great first flights! Did you make those upgrades before you even took the plane out for the first time? If so, that's quite an investment for something you hadn't done before!
You should check out Rancho San Antonio's field, the group of people who maintain/fly there are at the Yahoo! group RSAelectricflyers
Yea, the upgrades all went in before my first flight but that's because I already had a DX7 transmitter and a lipo charger as a result of my CX2. Rancho has a nice runway but too bad the sun is always in your eyes. : )
I got my Super Cub the same day. My first flight went great. My second flight involved some trees. My third flight I had a cockpit fire!!The reciever in the plane melted. New parts are in and waiting for a nice day. Great flying. Thanks
Fly, did you go with the stock parts? I'm curious as to why you had a fire in the cockpit in such a docile plane. : ) I'm running the AR6200 on this now with no problems.
All the parts are out of the box. I think when it hit the tree something happened. I tested it last night and my batterey got really hot. Going to the hobby store to see whats going on.
Don't mess with batteries, they can definitely light your plane and your field on fire. : ) Good luck testing it out You can't beat LiPo power for the weight/size/performance characteristics. Convert it!
That was the best first flight that i have yet ever seen. For my first fight I had a firebird commander 2 which is a very tough plane because i crashed lots of times and three or more times seriously and it would have survived if I wasnt so stupid and didn't take the electronics out of it because i have built another plane which as I thought didn't survive.
Thank you for watching! I thought about getting a Commander 2 or the Freedom for my first plane but decided on something more scale looking. Keep flying!
Nice first flights Khatslano! I never got a loop in on my first flights tho but did manage to keep mine in the air and land safely. I also used FS One to learn orientation and my RC heli experience made the transition low stress and easy to do. BTW, did you try the gorilla glue fix yet?
Thanks for the comments. I'm currently experimenting using Zap Foam-safe glue and also a 30-min epoxy. Will keep everyone updated at RCU. Thanks for watching!
Are you telling us the truth that those were your first R/C flights ever--the way you handled that Cub up there with such good hand/eye cordination looks like you have years of R/C thrills, including those perfect landings.
Thanks for the comments, Phambo. Yea, this is my first flight out, in fact the plane just arrived the night before and the receipt will show it! But in any case, I can't stress enough the value of simulator training, I use FS One.
Thanks, Sails. We actually are fortunate here in the Bay Area to have so much open recreational space. I have a baseball diamond and field near me that I can walk to but they technically don't allow models... haha.
Sup W, the plane is very forgiving to fly for the most part so it's a great choice for cruising enjoyment or for those new to RC planes. Wow Khat, that was incredible...Funny thing as last night, I was just asking my dad if I guy who has heli experience, would be able to possibly fly a plane of some sort...The vid helps in that, but then I also see you have sim experience, and I do not...Lol..But I still want to try on a slower model, it looks so fun !
