No, you obviously don't understand the history of English in America. When Africans were brought to this country, they were never taught 'proper' English, and so they transformed what they were taught into Ebonics and slang, which are still considered English. Since culture maintains speaking mannerisms within communities, it is ignorant to label a lyrical genius as a disgrace. The way one speaks does not reflect one's intelligence level, but rather more accurately one's childhood environment.
The phrase "know what I'm sayn" is not proper english. Try to use that in a Law class and see what the professor says. Temple Law should not condone such speakers. I suppose they need to maintain their image. At any rate, let us not confuse that with intellectualism--something this man is not demonstrating.
Nina 513: I didn't say I couldn't hear his voice. I said he was not speaking English properly--You know what I meant. Don't try to defend this garbage.
You see this is the problem with your so-called 'english', too damn proper! It is a bastardized-beastly language with no true origin. just like those individuals who try to define life with this Language of Death, YOU HAVE NO TRUE ORIGIN! Indigenous people don't deal with what is proper but rather we roll with how we feel....."KNOW WHAT I'M SAYIN?" We don't follow trends, we create them! this is why we deconstruct yo proper english and make it PROPPAH! CHUMP!
It's evident that you don't know how to speak or are familiar with the history of the English language. It does have an origin. In fact, it has many equally important origins. This is not following in a trend...but in your words "creating one." Oh and by the way, don't it "my so called english." I don't hear you speaking any other language.
No. You're correct, it has to do with how educated you are. In the case of the above speaker, he doesn't have either an education nor a concise acumen going for him.
How I know what? I'll assume you mean my position concerning his intellect. I will cut to the point directly...The only reason he is even permitted to speak at a university is due to the fact that Temple, due to its geographical location and anti-white rhetorical/educational fashion, is the only place that would allow such an academic disgrace.
he sounds alot like gil scott-heron in this.

I cant understand this gentleman. Can he learn to speak English before he speaks at a major university? This is a disgrace to academia.
