@numero420 No, it's partially based off of Soul Blazer, with Terranigma as a sequel. If you get the chance, you should play it on an emulator. IMO, the soundtrack is better than both games combined.

I remember when I was younger... Gaia asks me "Would you like to rest?" I answered "Yes". "Then rest..." Gaia says. I disappear, wondering what just happened. Next thing I know... this enchanting theme turns on. I think I listened for half an hour, watching the shooting stars in the background.
