Its impossible for a newer generation to see a movie like this with the same mind set and eyes compared to people that saw it when it was brand new. The movie brought a lot of new techniques to the table that nobody had ever seen before such as innovative camera angles. After seeing so many flashy/hi tech movies today and going backwards to the movies that paved the way its not really surprising that people like you don't understand why its one of the best films ever made.

CK, is very over hyped. It bombed in 1941. Orwell was booed when he got the Oscar.
It is certainly well made. However it seems to never take off. It features a lot of drama, talking and beauty shots. There really isn't much in the way of action/adventure, fantasy comedy, romance, etc. Personally I think "The Hudsucker Proxy" is just like CK much more entertaining.
