  • You guys who said bad stuff about JR are really stupid. He says in the video that Griffey is one of the greatest players he has seen play the game. Lay off him, guys!

  • Ken Griffey Jr, has one of the best swings, every. He was one of my favorite ball players of all time.

  • omg these comments are so stupid. Especially the top two comments. He clearly had respect for Griffey...he just saying that Griffey is old and should hang it up...lmfao...he had a great career, he is a legend. But he is old and past his prime...thats all he was saying. Damn. lol

  • 4th best home run hitter ever should be # 1 but played O.F. like he was suppose to so he got hurt alot and I say 4th best bc im not counting bonds

  • I dont think hes the best.. there is alot of better people like Babe Ruth, Henry Aaron, etc

  • @thearmyproductions haha henry aaron, are u on crack?

  • You are an idiot. Griffey is the best of this generation. Who are you to criticize? Wow I hope nobody listens to your nonsense

  • do you wana get slapped the fuck out of? griffy was the best baseball player that have ever lived

  • Show some respect, peasant. lol Knicks. Get the brooms out, bro.

  • Bitch! How many major league homers do you have? Shut the fuck up! You are a youtube punk ass, wanna be. You wish you had half the career of junior. Plus, you're from New York so you already don't know shit. Just because you're team buys players like slaves, doesn't mean you have any right to judge any other player from any other franchise. Talk shit about Jeter if you want but leave the Kid alone. Believe me if we find you at Safeco your ass will be grassed.

  • J-R: Shut the hell up! Have you ever hit a baseball? the kid is the greatest ;lefty in the history of the game. Meanwhile, you've never been asked to bat boy for a MLB team. So, feel free to talk shit if you actually had a legitimate career to back IT UP WITH. Tell me, what are your playing credentials? Little League? Girls softball? Anything? Until you have an actual resume that even compares to junior, feel free to shut the fuck up!

  • shut the hell up how much homers you hit thats right NONE and never will. no one gives a shit what u think

  • Griffey greatest left hander of all time

  • Ken Griffey Jr. LEGIT HOMERUN HITTER!! LEGIT!!

  • Griffeys swing the beastiest.

  • Bro, seriously, your an ass.

  • JR SPORT BRIEF, Dude you could take some advice from the guy a few comments down that says "shut up nigger". That's for you. You sound too f*ck damn annoying you wanksta. You think that KG Jr. would give a sh!t about what you have to say? If he saw this video hed probably laugh so hard at you. lol YOU need to retire and stop making stupid videos like this one. If they ever make a fourth Jackass, you should be the star. He never used steroids like your daddy Barry Bonds did! Pussy

  • Favre ** my bad.

  • Seriously he has earned the right to retire when he wants. He's retired now, but he's better than outfielders like Nelson Cruz even if he still played. Griffey a class act, how could you tell him to retire? It's not like he was struggling.... Like Brett Fante does in football... Brett needs to retire. God bless

  • if he got in shape and visited his batting coach for a tune up on his swing there is no chance he couldn't hit 20 homers a year for a few more.

  • shut up nigger

  • Ken will always be a great player in my opinion one of my favorites as well. Hes one of the only home run kings i can think of and im sure others as well who made those home runs without steroids.

  • This guy has no respect for my man griffey..wtf..?? he cn retire when ever he wnts to he has earned dat respect

  • dude they would never have fired griffey.... the whole team loved him he was a great person to have in the club house. show some respect dog it was fun watchin him even if he did slump a bit at the end.

  • U kinda look like Ken Griffey jr lol

  • Stop hating buster and show some propers.

Griffy in his prime in the mid 90's was one of the best homerun hitters ever to play the game. Look at Griffy's stance and swing, its effortless. He was consistently hitting moonshots and made it look like it aint no thing.

    Go read a book, son.

  • @SvenFooter Did you watch the whole video? He said in the beginning that Griffey is one of the greatest players he has ever watched. Also, you spelled, his name wrong. It's spelled, "Griffey," not, "Griffy."

  • Would have been the greatest baseball player ever without injuries

  • How is Ruth overrated?

  • very good report

  • If Griffey didn't get injured all the time he would have been the homerun king not Barry bonds, but he retired with style , his last game he got a walk off single

  • fuck you

  • 1:50 .....Pause lol

  • Yeah Griffey may be old but he just needed more playing time. Too bad Ken got injured during the days with the reds because if he didn't, then Ken Griffey Jr. would be the new all time leader in home runs

  • Hey when you had the career he had im sure its difficult to retire. But i do agree with you on everything you said. But i still remember how happy i was to see him return to the mariners in 2010. And i am still happy he decided to give it one more shot.

  • if he wasn't injured that much, he could have beaten that freakin steriod guy barry bonds!

  • I saw Ken Griffey Jr. tie Sammy Sosa for fifth place on the all-time home run leader as a White Sox. Guess who it came against. The Seattle Mariners.

  • i think he is the best baseball player ever the old players like ruth dimaggio.,ect. are overated because the pitchers werent as good back then but jr had to deal with pitchers on roids

  • he's already retired

  • JR.Retire! Please!

  • You should retire from living.

  • have more respect man. Griffey is the greatest.

  • @rickphillips11 He literally stated that Griffey is one of the best players he has seen in his life. Lay off, dude.

  • All im goin to say is Ken Was the best to ever do it fella you need to have more respect for a living ledgend

  • the years i remember is when he was with Reds and his stats started to decline thanks to a number of injuries. i used to ask my dad if Griffey got injured again because that's all i used to hear about. i also still have the front page of the Cincinnati Enquirer titled 'Legends Welcome Junior: 600!' he's definetly a first ballot HOF. i wished he coulda played a couple more years and possibly pass Willie Mays but the decision's already been made

  • YOur stupid and don't even deserve to have a show! You were right about Griffey, but who are you to say bad things about the greatest player ever?

  • ken griffey jr is tha best baseball player to step on tha field im looking foward to getting a tatto with him on meh he isn tha best eva he is my hero i love yhu ken im going to name my son ken

  • The greatest baseball player to play the game!!!!!

  • he did

  • he retired u happy

  • He did retire! HA!

  • Well, JR, looks like you got your wish. And you were probably right in your opinion. But I have a feeling that people will remember Ken Griffey Jr. long after they forget YOU in the next couple of minutes. Critiics are like eunuchs at an orgy - they see what happening, they can talk about it, but they can't do it. At least KGj did it.

  • I guess I was wrong about my griffey prediction 2010 stats.

  • You called it man...I think he watch your video or something. Haha, but yeah it was his time to hang up the bat. Griffey will always be known as one of the greatest players in the MLB!

  • well.....u got ur wish. I loved Griffey n can't wait to see his # get retired along with him getting inducted into the Hall

  • No matter what, this video is ridiculous. You dont ask a great player to ever retire. They go on their own terms. Thats like someone saying cause noone really sees this blog show u got on youtube, you should retire??? ARE YOU GOING TO LISTEN?? and that 20 innings video u made... its baseball. It's about playing baseball.. its got no fucking time limits. It's about having fun and playing.. for those out their and those who really love baseball.

  • @BlackLotus07 right

  • As of 6-2-10, Griffey retiresfrom baseball...

  • happy know

  • you got your wish

  • he retired

  • looks like you got your wish

  • I think it was fine for the mariners to sign him to a one year contract last season and he wasn't awful but I think he needed to retire last year. It should be just common knowledge to athletes that when they don't feel they can produce at their highest level and earn their money they should hang it up. This year he will definitely not hit more than 15 hr. He was an amazing player no doubt but it's time to go. I know someone who works in the Mariners clubhouse and he told me he was sleeping :(

  • When you get old you get tired and fall at sleep at random times.

  • the whole team is hitting 200 so don't quit on him yet if he does not pick up soon thats when you worry

  • @FadeToBlack509 Those numbers are very optimistic!

  • @JRSportBrief

    I agree. Too high.

  • @FadeToBlack509 you were a lil off werent you? hahah

  • FYI, all the 1995 Mariners arent retired, they had a player at the time who some of you may know, ya a little guy by the name of A-rod. Also, Griffey wasnt brought back to Seattle for the way he plays, they wanted his vetern leadership in the clubhouse. And he wasnt sleeping in the clubhouse, those were lies and the FSN cameras even showed him in the dugout wide awake suring the the 7th and 8th innings.

  • He saved baseball in Seattle too. But dude needs to hang em' up

  • I agree wit you but you gotta respect the man. He's a legend and will go down as one of the greats.

  • Well said, JR...cept the smaking balls part...anyways, Griffey will go down as one of the best players ever to play the game. He does not need to be remembered as the old man in a rocking chair while the game is still runnin...he is one of the few players in baseball that would make me stop what I was doing just to watch him play...Time to hang it up, Ken..."the Kid" is gone...

  • I remember Ken Griffrey on the wheaties box all the time too. I didn't know Ken still played. Man, I know how hard it can be for him to hang up the cleats. He had a great career and time goes by so fast. Yeah, it might be time for him to try out for golf now, become a baseball coach, or something else.

  • Man Griffy aint been good since i was in little league and tht was 12 yrs ago. and he was still playin for the reds. aint this his 21st season? he is a first ballot hall of famer tho.

  • I know right? He's milking the shit out of the game.

  • come on people show some support he is a legend and he is not done he is just in a slump. He just needs two more seasons including this one 20 home runs in this one and 11 for next year and he will retire in peace

  • Ken Griffey Jr should not retire yet I have he has been my favorite player since I was 9 years old I am 28 now. He is just in a slump if people who support him instead of putting him down he could do better. Chone Figgens is batting .188 should he retire? Carlos Quiten is batting .175 should he retire ? He just needs 31 home runs to pass wilie mays and be the most powerful CF in MLB history.

  • oh, let him suck up the paycheck while it lasts...

  • lol i loved his video game

  • I agree, hes good days are gone.

  • ken griffey is my guy been watching the mariners since they were an all star squad i have every colorway of his shoe AND his videogame and i have his original rookie card but indeed its time for him to go....

  • I'm from Seattle and I am the biggest mariner fan ever! but it's true, he needs to retire and we need a better DH. our batters can't hit worth a crap right now and he's not helping at all. I think it's time. the mariners organization won't cut him. it's up to him to end it.

  • If i had to sit and watch the Mariners attempt to play baseball, I'd probably dip to the clubhouse and take a snooze too.

Still the sweetest swing in baseball.

  • I truly agree he should retire. But you know he is to me one of the on the greatest baseball players of all time and to me the greatest player that played in the 90's

I say this because he was all natural, no reports of taking steroids while playing in the steroid era and was still capable to hit 630 career homeruns. He's great and I admire him.

  • to bad after he went to Cincinnati he just could stay healthy

  • the sport is full of steroided up freaks and now they wanna fire griffey just cuz a nap

  • Yeah I mean you couldn't have said it any better. Ken Griffey Jr. needs to go.

It's just a shame he didn't win the big one.

  • I know, Ill support him all the way. Think its mental at all?

  • Hell, I have probably over 100 cards of his.

  • Lol he will fall asleep at bat or in the outfield. He use to be really good... and no he didn't smack balls on live TV hahahah!

  • Junior was awesome, but injuries just took a lot out of him. It seemed like every year he was hurt. I wish he would purpose in his heart and mind to give it 100% for the next 2 years and go after 700hr.

  • i could care less about that has-been

  • @WWFHEAD LOL you cared enough to click on this video, AND comment on this video.

  • haha i had like a long ass convo with one of my coachs about this dude.

  • Honestly I think if anyone has earned the right to go out on his own terms, it's Griffey, especially in Seattle. He's one of the few great stars of the 90's not yet linked to steroids, and that alone probably makes him the greatest player of his generation. Let him finish out the year if he wants to.

  • just look at dikimbe mutumbo! he was better than yao when he was on the rockets! he was like 43 when he retired! i saw him at publix this weekend getting mother's day stuff haha

  • he plays for the M's, they suck, he's an all time great, its up to him, the m's can do as they fell with him, but someone will take him for ticket sales, im sad he's near retirement

  • Ken Griffey Jr. needs to retire! His day is done. Mariners need to open their line-up to some good young hitters.

  • Go fuck yourself JR!

  • Your mean HAHHAHAHAHA LOL.. But you are right

  • to be honest, if he wasnt hurt so much, there is a good chance that he could have had the most career home runs.

  • black people tearing down other black people - big part of the problem. let that man retire whenever he feels like it.

  • Griffey, Jr. is my favorite player of all time. But, it might be time to go.

  • LEAVE KEN ALOOONNEE!

  • man it sux when players don't kno when they're done and they just make themselves look like fools. there are too many times where this has happened to my favorite players, for example, Jerry Rice, MJ, Sammy Sosa, etc. Griffey has got to go b4 he turns out like Jerry Rice competing for and failing to end up with a starting job on a professional team

  • he liked him in his A days

  • Man I would love to see KGJ Pinch hitting in New York.

  • @yogibear4091 yeah man i'll take ken over nick johnson

  • he's gotta be done, hes had an illustrious career. but now, it's gotta end,.

  • Ken Griffey Jr is one of the greatest baseball players of all time no doubt he also only great player of the steroid era to not be accused of taking steroids he is also the Mickey Mantle of this era because just like Mick The Quick Ken Griffey Jr played with pain his entire career he could of broken all the records had he not played with pain but he was still a great baseball player.

  • ken sleepy jr

  • @Steadno He's sleepy? Lol!

  • @JRSportBrief Not anymore... He got that nap out in the dugout... JK Much respect KG great career man!

  • KG (Griffeuy) is my favorite player of all time. If he was never hurt he could have been the best hitters ever! But i agree he's done.

  • Yeah...he's looking like Willie Mays as he tried to hang on with the Mets...pathetic

  • Im sure if he never had gotten hurt that he would have more HRs than Bonds by now.

  • KG(Ken Griffey, not Kevin Garnet) has always been amazing, and he has always been getting worse and worse for a while now, but he is still pretty amazing. I'm a die hard reds fan though, but he does keep getting worse and worse, like you said. Good point dude, he probably has enough money for it too. KG is a legend! that need to retire

  • Guys the only reason he is on the team, is to keep the bench positive. He's not here to hit 30 homers for us.

  • He was signed as a clubhouse presence and that worked last year. Hopefully he gets things going or the consensus around here is he will see less and less playing time or retire. It also looks like that report on him being asleep may be false. He is not the DH tonight but rather Jose Lopez. The lineup is looking weird and it seems to be that they are trying to avoid Griff's bat being in the lineup. I think he finishes the year but no way he comes back.

  • Its going to be sad to see him leave buts its definitely time for him to hang up his cleats. He should retire on his own rather than the Mariners making that decision for him.

  • Ken Griffey Jr. is one of the few home run hitters of this era that hasn't been accused of taking steroids or other performance enhancing drugs. I respect him for that. He's truly one of the great baseball players of all-time, but it is probably time for him to hang up the boots.

  • @JRsportBrief yo bro u think Cavs are ganna choke against boston again?LOL then I think Knicks would have a huge chance at him bruh.

  • yea iam not use to seenin griffey fat

  • He's a once great player, He's for sure at the end of his career tho. IMO the Mariners are keeping around for his name.

  • Griffey was an amazing player in his prime and I'm glad to say he's never used steroids to be as good as he is, but the time has come for him to hang it up.

  • first
