Like noone could figure this out for themselves? And its the fastest way to get banned from all the serious chess servers. Even if you use a lower rating on your computer its still pretty easy to spot a cheater, simply because computers can calculate insane tactics in a few seconds, which would be practically impossible for a human in a blitz game.

It takes a strong master to achieve a 2600 rating, it takes a pretty strong player to achieve a 2000 rating, but it takes only an idiot and a cheat to set up a program to impersonate what's meant to be a human playing !

I've busted cheats on ICC in the past using the Speedtrap program ICC uses to detect people who use software programs whilst pretending it's them playing. I'll gladly do it again as well !

what kind of engine is that? 1....Nc6? don't think many good engines would recommend that. Yahoo chess has a lot of cheaters because it isn't regulated, FICS, ICC and PlayChess are much better in that sense, they can actually catch these guys with no lives

my dad does this... he has like 12 accounts that are all high ratings. he also plays against himself on another computer. he bought a gaming pc for like 1,500$ he said his program is to slow.... he completely wastes 10 hours a day and even more when hes off work. i ask him "why cant you play without the program?" he doesnt give a reason and says "because i pay the bills" since he got the program he acts like a total dick.

Houdini Chess engine is free and better than Rybka these days. You can use the engine with the free Arena client.  Good news is some free online sites like Chesscube have built in cheat protection and will auto-resign your game if it detects you are switching between applications too often.

This is the reason I generally only play 1 or 2 minute games as far as online real-time chess is concerned. This approach doesn't work in games that fast.

It's crazy, you even have to be careful in live otb chess. A guy can go to the washroom during a tournament game and plug the position into his cell phone running pocket fritz.
