  • Why do people always talk shit about EMG passives...? I thought they sounded pretty fucking good...!

  • Do you have the same settings on both vids? And what are your settings? :p I also have ux1 (pod farm program)

  • @TheAlianOlsen Yes, I used the same preset (without changing it) on both vids. Sorry, I can't remember the settings/preset anymore. At that time, I was mainly using PodFarm, but now I'm more into IK products (Amplitube).

  • That BC Rich is badass.

  • This is the only good sound test of the h4 on youtube

  • I like both pickups but this one is the tone I'm seeking.

  • After reconsidering the pups I install Crunch Lab though EMG sounds fuller but lacks the bite of the DiMarzio pups.

  • EMG sounds better.

  • I think I'm going with the crunch lab and liquifire. They are good set of pick ups regardless of tuning. I really want to tune to B and heard they sound heavy in any guitar

  • the H4A sounds way better

  • i would use this pickup in the neck and the crunchlab in the bridge

  • @pivetlord13 Thats the way to go:)

  • looks like trivium's paolo gregoletto's new bass.

  • that warlock looks badass

  • sounds like a song that would be in a good shooter/action game and/or movie.. sounded amazing, great work

  • What a type EMG hZ? H4 A Or H4 ?

  • @Kaizerlos H4

  • I just bought an HZ, seems to me this sounds better than the Dimarzios in your other vid so I guess I didn't waste my money - won't know for sure until I try it myself. :) Thanks for a great comparison vid.

  • Both sound pretty similar.

  • It's good to see a decent cover of this song man, well done :)

  • Seems the HZ has a bit more mid range but a is also a bit more muddy.

  • Hey, thanks for responding StereoDeth. Yeah, t i think i've decided to go with the Crunch Lab, i've read nothing but good about IT and have read a few 'not as good' about the SS. I have an Ibanez S 420, mahoganey body, maple neck. Why do u favor the pup with blade facing bridge better? Is there a significant difference in sound with it that way? And how different? Thanks for getting back to me. Keep up the good work man..see ya''

  • That was the BEST pup comparison vid i've seen yet. If you could put a Steve's Special in there, i'd have my problem solved. I'm deciding between the Steve's Special OR the Crunch Lab. Can you help me? Awesome comparison here.

  • @rondill65 Thank you, Ron. :) I'm sorry, I can't help you about the SS vs. CL issue.

I can just say that you have two options with the CL.

Blade facing bridge or blade facing neck. Tried both and I like the blade facing bridge option more.

Of course it also depends what kind of body wood you have. That was also kinda difficult for me,

'cause the Dimarzio samples on their homepage used guitars with different body wood than my BC Rich.

  • Nice tone from just one pickup.

  • In my opinion both pick up great for hard rock and metal, CL more powerfull and more gain but a little bit muddy ... EMG HZ more bright and a little bit crunchy but less gain. I think every player have different style and sound like. And I prefer EMG HZ...... Thanks to StereoDeth for great compare EMG HZ with Dimarzio Crunch lab.

  • its depend on what kind of sound you wont the emg is more on the clean sound

so its more the original sound of the guitar

  • @baruchdor I dunno what you mean, 'cause that makes no sense imo.

Both pups are for metal and therefore in distortion mode. There is no original sound (clean) of the guitar anymore to focus on.

Beside that, the EMG HZ sucks in clean BIG TIME.

It's just weak and the Dimarzio CL is so much better. But I will never use that pup for clean sounds though, 'cause like I said; those are metal pups.

Got my Carvin with blues pickups for that kind of job.

    Cheers.

  • @StereoDeth do that with a Steve's Special in there.. That will help me with my dilemma immensely. i'm undecided between the Crunch Lab and the Steve's Special, that's why i ask. you put on here a perfect comparison video with great sound. thanks man

  • @StereoDeth You can get nice clean tones from any high output pup. Just roll back the volume a tad.

  • The HZ doesnt sound bad at all but the CL is deffinately better imo

  • ewwwww, Thats nasty thin tone compared to the other pickup!

  • Which one can get higher out put with a real nice crunchy but not messy sound?

  • @dapwntality The CL has more output and def a better tone. Chords n stuff are more defined and not just straight distorted. You can also choose between two options (Blade/metal bar towards bridge or neck - I've chosen bridge).

Maybe the HZ gets more output with a Boost, but I believe the sound won't be better.

  • Sounds great =) Nice song btw
