hello, does anyone know the song that is on the record that Jeanne Moreau carries with her? is it a play on the wedding march? a bernard herrmann original work? i can't find the info. (?) thanks.
What's is up with this trailer??? It's totally showing what happens to at least 3 the 5 men she wants to kill. Trailers should leave some mystique to the audience.
The Americans are good to make remake of movies from other countries. However they have a problem to admit it (they think they can lie because the majority of American people watch only american movies). Tarantino is not an exception.
Americans can't imagine how many american movies are inspired or copied from foreign films because their cinematographic culture is reduced to American cinema.
I saw this in the cinema recently and yes there are many things in it that are also in KB such as one of The Brides targets is a family man and has a kid that she must usher to bed before she can exact her revenge which plays out like a mixture between the Vivica Fox & Bill deaths. Not only does Truffaut’s Bride cross off her dispatched targets in a note book but one of them is arrested by cops for something else so she marks him with a ''?'' just like Elle Driver at the end credits of KB Vol 2.
It's hard to say Tarantino never saw this movie, because all of those elements he draws directly from the nouvelle vague into his cinema, but then again I think he's been honest with his influences most of the times, like Lady Snowblood in Kill Bill and The Killing in Reservoir Dogs, maybe because he's aware he can't pull off something entirely authentic (but who can?), so I kind of belive him.
Yeah maybe nothing is original, but there's precedent and there's just lifting ideas directly which is all the Tarantino does, it's complete plagarism, and people forgive it because of the great dialogue and scene settings...
for goodness sake - what film, song or piece of art isn't inspired by something we've seen or experienced - whether subconscious or not. are you trying to imply that tarantino doesn't have talent?
Tarantino claims he's never seen it. But he may have seen it and forgotten about it and the idea came from his subconscious and he thought it was his own.
@pissedllama I AGREE COMPLETELY. Honestly, the films are too similar for it to be a mistake. He's missing out, anyway, if he's never seen this film. They have the same soundtrack (the whistling song) too. SAME MOTIVATION and inspiration for revenge.
I know Tarantino quotes tons of films in Kill Bill, I just wish he was (or would admit) quoting this one!
In my opinion the best film of Truffaut! I am fan of the Jeanne Moreau and I consider it the first one of three actresses who I consider "super Star". I look in vinyl single "bandolins" touched when the July personage has left for its revanchs.Parabéns to the friend who inserted this video to please fãns and to make to know the ones that had still not attended this wonderful filme.Thank you

A UNIQUE WORK BY TRUFFAUT USING THE THRILLER GENRE TO CONVEY HIS VIEWS ABOUT RELATIONSHIPS AND WOMAN'S POSITION.

I wish Monica Bellucci could play in a remake of this film, and Kate Bush could sing 'the wedding list' again :)

I don't believe that Tarantino haven't seen it either. I think he got inspired in this movie to create Kill Bill.

exactly.
this film has nothing to do with tarantino.
either watch HIS films or TRUFFAUT'S ...
or preferably both., then comment on the picture in question rather than get hung up on who did what first. WE ALL COPY.

@pissedllama even the trailer line "They make one mistake... they should have killed the bride" is in kill bill only reworded.
KB is one of my favorite films but it's still a pity that certain people can't admit to where they got the idea.

No doubt this trailer (or many) inspired Robert Rodriguez for his MACHETE faux trailer. It has the same feel as this one.

tarantino actually said that he had never seen the film. he was more inspired by the japanese film "lady snowblood"

He's seen it... Tarrantino is notorious for ripping off old the Nouvelle Vague. He's more than aware of Truffaut.
