Since "sparring" is " attack and defense" this falls into the category of it : the shield in some of our drills "bumps" and "sweeps" which is the same motion as an attack and the person defends with hand and leg techniques. The bumps and sweeps are not seen on this video clip so the confusion ( or query ) by Aegis82 is understandable.
