  • "Outrageously showy?" You should see how they blow 'em over in the states!

That aside, great video. LNER steam has always been a favorite of mine.

  • Ah, for we reserved brits that WAS showy. :-) Thanks for the comment

  • I find it fascinating that what was an everyday occurrence when I was a lad, is now a spectacle of delight for many! It's great that it is happening and I believe that it will come again -

  • Steam locomotives in Whitby are currently a very regular occurence as the preserved North Yorkshire Moors Railway (where Sir Nigel is based) runs regular trains from Whitby to Grosmont via the Esk Valley line and then onwards from Grosmont to Pickering. It's a great run for anyone who hasn't done it before. However the locomotives used for this regular run are somewhat lighter than Sir Nigel.

  • Yes very intresting was there a few weeks ago see my film

  • That's me reet next to the bridge!

  • There's a bit in your footage from the same day where the camera rises briefly and catches a glimpse of the 'new' road bridge over the Esk. I am one of the black dots leaning over the rail :-)

  • i thort that was a model layout at first! lol

  • I thought it was sporting the no. 4 from Thomas And Friends

  • Sorry, I don't know why the Hi-Res version is not available...

  • Hmm! The high(er) rez version has eventually made itself available. Only took about 6 months!
