I guess the system is pretty good for specialty cars, but I wouldn't put a big truck on a tiny Dodge like that; I wouldn't use a Dodge as a tow truck, either, lol.
i have a question im looking for a wrecker or a tow truck, i want to buy the truck new, and im wondering what the best truck for a tow/wrecker and what would be the cheapest option
ran out of message space. Good job on the tray there, Looks well designed and thought out and most of all well built. Great video as I was always curuios how these trays worked. Have seen some Jap versiosn using chains instead of cables. Yours looks like a much neater system simular to a forklift mast. How far can the bed slide backwards at full cylinder extension ?
@hurenkamp Your absolutely right. Our system is the same as a Hi-Lo or Fork Lift. Tried & True.
There are other versions of the Low Loader across the world. Detroit Wrecker, offers the Heavy Duty version. Americans have the heaviest passenger vehicles compared to the rest of the world. So Towing Equipment must be made strong enough to handle its heavy loads. Thanks for commenting! We are building a unit as we speak for a customer in Australia. So stay tuned we are making a Low Loader for him
Hi Chris, Just wondering how much over hang past the centre of rear wheels are you allowed over there ? In Australia we are only allowed 60% of the wheelbase as overhang. I have a Isuzu frr Aus spec truck and the max over hang for that truck is 2910mm , wheelbase is 4850mm. That truck looks to have a long overhang and then you mentioned if you have a vehicle with a large overhang on the tray you just don't roll the tray all the way forward.
