  • Damn! The one dude in the beginning was cranking that guillotine forever, before he got the tap.

  • @ThisIsanEffinHassle kinda pathetic that the guy being guillotined didn't know the counter

  • awesome

  • How would you describe Grappling ?

  • Wrestling and BJJ is both grappling. I like to look at is as two different styles of grappling, one that concentrates on Leverage to submit, other to gain position to maintain a good position. Neither is better than the other, they are just two different styles.

  • @Shadow2271 i totally agree ! i believe that a good combination between thoose to is the best.

  • i was teatched ,that it is a great mistake to cross your feet while having the back of a grounded opponent ;; because it open a submission possibility for him ,, even thoo i see 3 of thoses figther doing it ,, so can someone tell me what is the correct opinion ?

  • @ezzedine114 Figure 4 is acceptable with back control, but locking whilst in hook position is unwise.

  • @ezzedine114 you never cross your feet like that. its an easy submission for the other guy.

  • my art is the best and most effective - too funny guys - when a wrestler first takes up grappling or bjj, they often times have distinct advantages - then again when a really good athlete first joins a BJJ or grappling class they may also have distinct advantages. IF i could turn back the clock, I would have wrestled and I think it would have acceletated my advancement in grappling and bjj, BUT, I beat wrestlers, I lose to wrestlers, at the end of the day, it's a journey

  • Grappling is grappling. It does not matter what type of grappling style. Freestyle, Japanese jiu-jitsu, judo, BJJ or Sambo. Fucking tired of people making it an exclusive right for BJJ to claim. I have seen Judokas choked a bunch of BJJ guys out.

  • @Voodoofreak35

I have seen even more BJJ players choke Judokas. Judokas in the US tend to have poor ground skills; I was tappin out Blue and Brown when I was still a BJJ 3 stripe White Belt. They Judokas were good, they just lacked enough mat time on their backs and in guards. That being said, the sport of Judo doesn't usually allow for much down time on a mat. Otherwise it would be called Jiu Jitsu I suppose.

  • I think being a grappler a true grappler like shields is very important in you want to have the Bjj,kjj, wrestling, judo and anything you can think of to be the best grappler you can be I used to train at a gym and I gave a Kjj guy massive problems because i wrestled all the way in highschool and when i started to become a real grappler i noticed a diff wrestlers get subd alot but you can hold a Bjj guydown if ur a good wrestler gota be a true grappler

  • can you wear gi pants for naga the no gi tournament

  • @G0DatC0D Yes, but they make it clear that if you wear them it's okay for your opponent to grab them

  • i train Gracie JJ ive competed in a NAGA nd got third buttttt i juss used prue wrestling nd got subbmitted im not to fond on BJJ but its better butt if u watch UFC they make it look like wrestling rules over BJJ but if u wanna see my team compete type in Naga Forth Worth 2009 nd click on the one that wuss uploaded by ECtacticaldefense

  • BJJ > Wrestling , ive sparred wrestlers who have tried bjj and stamped them down

  • perfect sweep at 1:15

  • BJJ is best system ever.

  • grapplers can beat the shit out of wrestlers so dont be talking shit if you havent done it

  • @FamousFallenAngel1 Wrestlers are grapplers. I love both bjj and wrestling, do both. Wrestled on varsity throughout high school, club team in college, got my blue belt in bjj recently from MMAA. They both offer very distinct skills and attributes to a fight and saying one guy can beat the shit out of another is ignorant as well. Guys who came from decorated wrestling and guys that came from decorated jiu-jitsu backgrounds both fair extremely well in mixed martial arts.

  • Grapplers are just bad wrestlers...end of story

  • this is gay

  • @xo0pkxo0 Your fucking retarded

  • I personally like wrestling better but I want to try this.....is there a 125 lb weight class?

  • @jreal600RR How can you say you prefer wrestling if you havn't tried it? That's just being biased because you do wrestling.

  • looks like they are trying to force everything

  • Competed in naga a couple of times, to much muscle not enough skill. Plus way to big, takes for ever, and unorganized.

  • brasilian jiu jitsu is so bad ass.

  • the best thing i saw so far was the sweep @ 1:13 the rest is garbage!

  • @pballakid lol its not to bad but not impressive but i gota admit its not even and intermediate level lol like im almost getting my blue belt 16 years old nd prob can beat those guys lol

  • Low level

  • i knoww not to cross my feet because of the anklee submission, but can someone plpease explain the double underhooks

  • @Orangeoreos28 the double underhooks is when u put each foot and hook it to the thighs instead of crossing it

  • Wimps I would destroy them.

  • I would crush these scrubs

  • 1:15 nice flower sweep! Vinny Magahleas would be proud

  • everybody is muscling everything

  • if you cant get a body triangle or u dont feel comfortable with hooks.... u can cross your feet at your opponents belly button... they cannot lokck ur feet with their legs

  • u should check out my best tap out ever in a tournament nasty nate bjj

  • why do ppl insist on putting LOUD ROCK MUSIC on these clips? I want to hear breathing, grunts, scuffling, etc

  • I was too impressed with NAGA. Is Grappler's Quest any better?

  • NAGA is a terrible grappling tournament.

  • BJJ is best system ever.

    no gi (sub wrestling) rocks.

fuck aikido , karate , wing tsun , tai chi , ect...

  • @BluePittbull666 I know you made this comment a month ago but I'm still gonna reply cause i'm an asshole like that :P BJJ can't possibly be the best system ever..it's almost pure ground game, that's all the focus on one aspect of a fight, don't get me wrong, i love grappling, i'm a wrestler, I just wanted to point out that you can be a grand master in BJJ, but if it never goes to the ground, watcha gonna do?

  • @Saforge there is no best system

  • @TheNoseJR Trust me, i know

  • do you have to pay to join tournaments?

  • @JEBSDUDES it depends on the tournament ur goin too, but usually for big tournaments u have to get picked such as worlds or adcc

  • @thebtran1 oh ok. thanks. wait, but how would they know if you're good?

  • @JEBSDUDES they will kno because u go to compeititons such as worlds or like when they see ur name is good like its complicated

  • @thebtran1 alright! thanks, dude.

  • do you have to pay, to join tournaments?

  • John freeman ur a amateur its called a foot lock and pyro69 if u got the full choke it doesnt rly matter

  • cross your feet when you have someones back they can t wrap their legs over top of yours thrust with the hips and that shit hurts

  • @onemanarmy801 the reason why your not supposed to cross your feet when you have someones back is they can triangle their feet over your and push down and out and will make you tap from pretty much a straight ankle lock. it works believe me.

  • @yammyUFC4life thats pretty much what i said...

  • @onemanarmy801 ohh got ya i thought you said cant wrap their legs i gues sthat t in there was typo lol

  • @onemanarmy801 did u just say to cross ur feet when u have someones back?dude thats a granteed ankle lock

  • @onemanarmy801 You only cross your feet when they're NOT infront of your opponent.

    Or you'll get ankle locked.

  • @BlackShinobiShozoku

nah man what im tryin to say is, if someone has YOUR back and they cross their feet you can figure four your feet over top of theirs and when you arch that will eith tap them or instantly release there feet. i had someones back at the gym and made the mistake of crossing my feet my buddy did the above mentioned move and good god that shit is effective

  • Good video

  • Comment removed

  • my first NAGA tournament on april 11 in newark w0o0ot

  • Wow, I've seen like 5 beginner errors in this clip. IE two guys are crossing their feet while having the back.

  • exactly

  • 0:58 - 1:02 ... awesome

  • I will be competing in the one in NJ in april wish me luck.

  • @bboyvyrusfullfx good luck from the academy in nj wny

  • Video is totall shit the only guy that knew what he was doung was my fellow Gracie Barra brother at 1:11 who got the double and the fucking sweep everyone else shit!!!!

  • wheres stone cold

  • fighting is so messy...........

  • your so weird if you don't like it, don't watch it...

  • if you dont like my comment, dont read it....

see, i can do that too :)

  • no dumbass you cant do that. This is a video I like reading comments about said video If you just wanna fill it up with retarded bullshit go somewhere else.

  • no thanks. i u prefer u raging

  • ok then... excellent usage of your time sir

  • I agree, but then they might have been novices. Still, kudos for trying

  • holy shit i know the guy at 1:16

  • yeah whats the rules for the no gi gear in naGA....like what do you have to have

  • Nice Highlights.

  • whats the song thats being played

  • at 1:08 that dumbass crosses his feet. any good bjj fighter would take advantage of that fact.

  • why is it bad for you to cross legs ?

  • because if the guy crosses his legs. the guy your choking will reach his feet up and wrap them around urs then push down . that will submit you hands down

  • what is the song that is being played?

  • Nice highlight video, hope to see you at Grapplers Quest in 2010!

  • 1:14 text book sweep!

  • If you ask me that is the most effective sweep ever.

  • Yeah the helicopter or mayflower sweep. I use it quite a bit and although you're not gonna always hit it I have a pretty high success rate with it. Prob 6 out of 10.

  • here's what I do: when the sweep fails because the opponent put his hand on the mat to prevent it I always go for a kimura the moment he puts his hand on the mat. Or if you are quick and flexible you can try a quick omoplata on that shoulder above the leg you are grabbing.

  • yeah I instinctively try for the kimura if they post never really thought about going for the omoplata maybe I'll start trying to work that too. It almost seems like that would be a little easier considering you already have the momentum when you swing your leg for the sweep, plus you wouldn't have to reach your arm all the way back over his body to lock up the kimura. Definitely gonna try it out.

  • yep that's the thing I was talking about. ;-)

I also use it as an armbar setup...people get used to me trying to sweep them so much that they forget to protect their arms and leg underhook is great way to setup an armbar.I saw Fedor do it in a seminar.

  • if you feign the omoplata, so he try's grabs the leg first then shoot the kimura you'll get him every time.....well you know what i mean.

  • Anyone know where I can see highlights of this years tourney?

  • I was refereeing this fight.

  • wow this is probably the beginner division. everyone knows not to cross ur legs with a rear-naked choke. u go for double underhooks.

  • true . but not if your trying to get the body triangle . but if thats the case ,then these guys must suck at it

  • remember that with the legs crossed, your just making them choose what they have to protect, the neck or work towards the body triangle.

  • does not matter if you cross the legs, just like everything the guy has to take advantage of it, if you feel the rear naked close around his neck you can cross because the guy will be under too much stress to lock your feet

  • no it does matter, because if u have enough experience like i do then u would know to push ur chin to shoulder reach down and brake their feet

  • it does matter if you cross your legs cause if it is a good fighter he will submit you

  • Yes you're opponent must take advantage of it and a lot of the times you can get away with it, but generally in jiu-jitsu it is considered very bad form. Your hooks not only protect your feet but prevent your opponent from rolling into guard. It's very rare to see a top level BJJ fighter cross their feet while riding someone's back.

  • @pyro69man ya double underhooks to get the points and when you have the points its good to go for a body triangle it has way better grip.

  • @bjjchamps true, but they can reach down at ur foot and twist it to the point where u have to tap or have it rip off

  • @pyro69man ya but once they are doing that just go over to mount b4 they can get it nd have a body triangle on mount.

  • @bjjchamps ye true, but u'd need to submit them pretty quickly then cause they'll figure it out

  • @pyro69man ya that is true i guess double underhooks nd body triangle both hav there ups nd downs.

  • @bjjchamps that is so true. i mean go for a body triangle more than i go for double underhooks jus cause it's easier and i waste less energy, but underhooks give u better control.

  • @pyro69man same hear but its always good to get the points b4 goin for a body triangle nd ya it does give control.

  • @pyro69man

I was thinking the exact same thing.

  • @pyro69man I was thinking the SAME exact thing.

  • @pyro69man

did he or did he not tap?

  • @sikfaka1 wat?

  • I thought people learnt not to cross the legs in like the first week

  • im not impressed at all by these clowns they all look like fake jiu-jitsu players

  • you dont "play" jiu jitsu....

  • Eddie Bravo calls it playing jiujitsu, as for myself, I call it fighting

  • YES YOU DO½

  • well duhh

  • That first highlight was horrible!

The other kid just stood and took that guillotine! Didn't defend it or anything.

  • i do NAGA. and i suggest u not to cross ur feet when taking the back

  • youre not supposed to cross them anyway

  • amen

  • Yeah, you don't cross the feet, because they can do an ankle submission

  • @J0hnFreeman i've done that ankle lock to a guy who had my back in practice, it isn't a reliable option though because if the choke is sunk in, you're screwed

  • @J0hnFreeman Which hurts like a bitch

  • @J0hnFreeman

well he looked kind of preoccupied

  • @J0hnFreeman if you can resist the pain of the ankle submission, there's no problem. You can't tear muscles or break bones with that. Cross your feet. The choke will be easier

  • @Thewiseguitar plussss if its illegal to use subs under the waist (which it is in white belt competitions) ya might as well it does make it easier

  • 2 people crossed their feet when taking the back in this video. That's a one way ticket to pain. All the other guys had to do was apply a triangle over the feet, and they'd tap out instantly.

  • WTF, so many people cross their legs whilst doing rear naked chokes

  • Probably newbies

  • crossing the legs is a bad habit. when I grappled with my trainer the other day I also did that. it is a funny thing when you almost perfectly set up the rear naked choke and few second later you end up taping :-)

  • sov you r allowed to slam?

  • no its not allowed

  • doing the naga in GA this weekend. im getting that sword this year.

  • does anyone no any good grappling schools in NY

    particualary long island

  • can't go wrong with the renzo gracie jiu jitsu academy, but i think thats in Manhattan

  • Serra jiu jitsu maybe?

  • thats in brooklyn

but thanx for the help anyways

  • if you guys want to see my first ever grappling match i had at NAGA its on my channel i'm only 13 and beat my opponent 18-0 by points i train under Gracie Barra Jiu Jitsu

  • warum nich einfach in die fresse schlagen?

  • weil das ein grappling turnier ist

  • if you want in these tournaments go to OHIO Grappling Challenge (OGC) and it gives you a list of tournaments. If you go to these i would suggest going to a gym (hammer house is one)to practice for a litle bit. (also check out randori I do both its awsome)

  • naga at the end of the month i want that sword time to kick some ass

  • You going to NAGA in Milwaukee? I'll be there reppin' 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu Omaha.

  • good luck bud

  • Just got back from a Naga! W00t

  • where can i get into these tournaments

  • No, I'm not NAGA's sponsor, but check out NAGA's website ("North American Grappling ASsociation")

  • was this at the arnolds?

  • or at naga maybe

  • fala serio muito ruin

    não tem tecnica!!!

  • There was alot of poor technique in that video.

  • yeah, but the thing with no gi is taht its alot more about strength. thats why most wwrestlers are jacked

  • hey man I am getting ready for my first tounament. Your really think no gi it more about strength? I rolled with a guy who is in to the GI comp a few days ago. I made him made cuse I am quite a bit stronger than he is.. I am just a few months in to training while he is a blue belt. Do you think my strength will be a bit advantage?

  • im so entering this contest

  • hey thats me at 1:20-1:29 in the black tapout shorts.......awesome that brings back some sweet memories from 08' summer.

  • you're hot ;))

  • r there alot of sandbagers iv bean grappilin for 4 months and wanna do the teens division at 129 but will there be people lieing just to win

  • whats sandbaging ive heard of it but i dont know what it is

  • they're pussies that lie about how long they've really been training just so they can win easier. like ^rockys division would be a 6 months and under but there will be people who have been training for a year that will enter.

  • neck cranks are legal in adult no-gi divisions. but, they are illegal in gi and kids diviisons

  • I just Compieted in the september naga and lost because the guy didn't a neck crank and that's illeagal

  • There is a way that's pretty easy to get out of the neck crank......

  • come this November im going to OWN!!! at least i hope i do....

  • Hey Junior what divisions will you be fighting in? I'll be there this November too but I'll be in the Beginner's division =(

  • same one! im currently at 185 so i might go in the beginners heavyweight division. but im cutting weight so i can try and make it to 169, the iddleweight division. my names Ramon Diaz, and ill be at Newark new jersey waiting for you haha! oh and the place i train at is the Philly fight factory, the place is the best!

  • LMAO! I'm at 185 too trying to cut down to 169 as well hahaha

Yeah the competition is gonna be at the college I go too lol so this will be fun. I'm Alex Rosales well thats my middle name but I'll be definitely looking for ya lol I'm fighting out of Guerrero Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu & Mixed Martial Arts Academy. I heard about philly fight factory and heard nothing but great things.

  • Awesome man!! cant wait to see you!

  • naga rulessssssss

  • elite and underated athletes!

  • no, sports on staroids, I dont mean that any of them use it "the drug staroid" but too much force leaving out the art of fighting, like boxing and such

  • Bro, NAGA stand for North American GRAPPLING Association. Its about the art of grappling.

Thats like watching kung fu and saying they dont wrestle enough....

  • lol u just made a ridiculous example by comparing kung fu, I know it's new type of martial arts but still there already is such sport type it's called wrestling am I wrong, it's like boxing for example but only you can hit them in the back of the head or in the groins but regardless my comment I support any type of "self defence" study or fight cause sometimes somebody is attacked and they don't have enough strenght to fight back or hurt the attacker enough but grapling has some amazing stuff

  • Ok, I think my kung fu example went over your head. lmao. Let me explain again. This is a tournament focused on the art of grappling. Alot of these guys also train stand up, but this is focused on one specific point of combat. Also, YES you are wrong. Not only is Jiu Jitsu NOT a new matial art, but it is NOT the same as wrestling. Brazilian JJ started in 1930 by Helio Gracie. Before that, it was in Japan for a LONG time.

Do me a favor, learn to spell and do more research before you respond
