nice bike but unreliable...too many issues with the transmision reported by users on forums.. and aprilia dont dont do shit to adress the problem......NOT GOOD !!!
I'm in the process of getting one, Im so happy that someone has finally made an "affordable" automatic! I think once more ppl find out about this bike, sales will go up. Certainly for women riders and city life. Props Aprilia!!
Formula one, according to Wikipedia outlawed cvts because they are too fast. Once a scooter (cvt) starts breaking records on the track, more people will accept it. I like this bike and may buy one tomorrow.
tried it and loved it...i'm fed up with the fricking clutch especially for city riding which i do for like 80% of the time anyway...*press* *release* *press* *release* *press* *release* your balls and wrists are starting to turn into moose, this thing is very fuel economical and it dosent feel like you're traveling seating on a toilet, its a bike..the best of both worlds ;)
so this bike is completely automatic? meaning if i were to ride this bike, it would be like driving an automatic car? meaning it'll change gears itself, without having to do anything yourself?
@Carfagno2223 It uses a CVT, or Constantly Variable Transmission. It doesn't shift, it just constantly changes it's gear ratio to keep you in the power band based on how far you twist the accelerator. It's like the transmissions that are used in scooters and snowmobiles. Very very nice :D
@Carfagno2223 Its like driving a tiptronic car. It has automatic and manual mode, in manual mode you shift gears yourself by pressing the peddle shifters, it will bounce off rev limiter if you don't shift it in manual. IMO its retarded that more bikes don't have this. At least consumers should be given a choice. Now even the most hardcore sport cars come in auto. Ferrari doesnt even offer manual anymore.
Be careful buying from aprilia guys, as much as I love my mana a blown relay in the ignition has kept my only means of transport off the road for a month, and when the part finally arrived it was the wrong one. Devastating. They don't care once they have your money.
I just rode one for a day.. demo bike from my local garage, actualy loved it! great bike soooo good for a courrier for example. Shame the top end have very little grunt, but the torque is awesum!
Absolutely the perfect runabout, and so well balanced. I'm very impressed! Aprilia set the standard in the revolution. Such a cool idea!! Love IT! Mana rocks. so comfy too.
I didn't even consider big bikes.. I was just sticking with small and large scooters for transport.
Then I saw this bike. I'm really in love.. that tranny seems just what I want. A similar feel to the scooters, but with the sequential gear mode to take it to an auto-stick car feel.
All while being on a rather stylish and good looking bike, compared to say, the outrageously expensive and shoddy looking DN-01. That's another bit.. similar in tranny style to the DN-01, but loads cheaper!
Two years ago I reported Estefan Enterprises to the FBI, but the biggest disappointment was when GLORIA and EMILIO ESTEFAN confessed that they knew about, and agree with, all the dirty deals going on in their companies.
For more details search FRANK AMADEO and GLORIA ESTEFAN CRIMINAL on You Tube.
I have this bike. Its amazing. Couldn't imagine another one. But my helmet which is a medium Arai does not fit in the compartment. I put it in the back storage box I added to the bike.
When Porsche came out with the Tiptonic gearbox ages ago everyone said that spoils the fun. Now its the same with bikes. But I believe it's the future. And I may get one to test it's touring capabilities over 20,000km and a few countries. But it will have to be tarmac mainly.
i dont see any problem with having an automatic bike, i prefer it. been riding for 15 years and i always wished for my bikes to be auto. screw shifting if you dont have to...now, for sports cars that a different story. but for a bike, who gives a crap. all of you people trying to act tough because you shift gears, get real.
I think of getting the Mana, I mean it will be my only vehicle & it looks great so why not. I just don't like it when it compares to coughgheycough scooters because it is a auto. Or I could get the Shiver.
I took a Mana demo for a ride yesterday. Not having a clutch felt exceedingly weird ... for about 3 minutes and every time I came to a halt. But it is ridiculously easy to ride, you get a choice of touring, rain or sports mode, or if you want it, manual, just without the whole clutch business. The riding position is extremely comfortable and the low centre of gravity and wide bars make dropping into corners a breeze. I've now bought the demo.
I'm all for this bike. About time I reckon. Thanks Aprilia for being bold enough to take it on. Let the evolution flow I say. My dream bike would be 850-1000cc, an in-line 4, have at least a 20 litre fuel capacity, a full/bikini fairing, a 2 finger front brake, and an electronic auto transmission like the Mana's. Oh, and have a set of large, stylish duel headlights that work both at the same time. And I like the storage "tank" too. I hope the constant "scooter" reference doesn't stigmatise.
I own one and it is brilliant. Gutsy and now that the tyres are run in and the engine is beginning to loosen and bite, it is amazing. Not cheap by any means but so much fun, and the passion red makes it a looker.
I test rode this yesterday at Rocket Ctr in Blackburn UK, great bike, lots of power, use full auto or the paddles on the handlebar..or gearshift, 7 gears! only took it to 100mph, but it pulls well, feels like a proper bike to. fuel tank is under the passenger seat, fake fuel tank is a helmet locker, with light and aux electric socket.

I agree. They insist on distancing themselves from potential buyers with their pricing, parts availability, and sketchy product distribution worldwide.
If they want to make an automatic, follow the Suzuki Burgman. If they want to make reliable bikes, follow Honda. We already HAVE these things for less money. Aprilia bikes are just prettier, that's all. Unless you're a dumb Harley rider, looks shouldn't matter enough to pay double.
when I got that correctly he said that the petrol would last for 200km. 15l fit in, so this bike kills 7,5l petrol for 100m?! that's kind of insane I guess...
And even then, 7.5l petrol per 1000m would mean you could go 2km before having to fill up again. Perhaps if it had a jet engine!
If I got my maths right (doubtful) 15 litres over 200.000 metres (200km) means 100m will burn 0,0000075 litres = 0.0075 millilitres. A dram of whisky is 30 millilitres, to compare.
I'm on the list for one of these. I can see huge potential for that transmission. A 1000cc tourer with that tiptronic box would pe near perfect. Merry Christmas to everybody:o)
