Gene seems very sure in this video about his decision of quiting acting. It is very sad to see. We have to accept it if he feels this is the best for him. Frankly today's rotten Hollywood is not a place for a gentleman like Gene. It is time for the zacefrons sigh...
so theres different kinds of accounts? and what's the different, beside being able to play long clips? i mean, how did you get that versus just a normal account? why doesnt everyone have it then?
YouTube allowed so-called "Directors Accounts" during their first year of operation. When they did away with the status about a year ago, they allowed those already with accounts to keep their accounts. Theoretically, I could post a movie that was ten hours long, as long as it's under a gig in size. There is no duration limit for a Directors Account.
aaaah, thanks for the answers! so basically, they're not available now. It's all 10min only, huh? well done grabbing it when it was available. it's almost like you should share it with everyone so they don't have to parse up all the stuff. :)
imagine one great youtube channel with everything ever recorded on it in its entirety. :)
It's just a matter of time before YouTube allows unlimited upload for everyone. Google Video already has no file size limit and no duration limit. YouTube will probably be there within a year. I never thought they'd get HD video capability so fast, but like two weeks ago they got it. Check out my "HPX170 Depth of Field Test" in full-screen HD for a look at what's pushing the envelope (at least this week).
yeah, ive noticed some of the changes. unfortunately the wide screen formatting breaks some of the earlier uploads here squeezing them all funky. but yeah... maybe they'll have unlimited size. that'd be cool.
they used to have search that gave you parts. if something had parts they'd be listed next to each other instead of individual clips, making it easy to see them all. and then they got rid of it in a week or so, which is crap.
I meant greatly missed on the big screen...so reviewing his cinematic body of work is just as wonderful as if they were new release. What a treasure to the world.
Hackman´s one of the best actors of all times. Perfect roles in "The french connection", "Poseidon adventure", "The scarecrow", "Night moves", "The conversation", "Mississippi burning" & "Unforgiven".
Some of us became a part of a creative soul family when you watched Gene's storytelling on stage & film. He contributed so much intensity and one can learn so much about nuance, line delivery, silence just from watching him work. Movies Scarecrow, Conversation, French Connection, Heist, Absolute Power...You will be greatly missed and we wish you & your family Love. Keep having Fun ! Thank you Mr. Hackman*. L*
I will look for this book by both authors as it sounds interesting. Wish I could have an autographed copy. Gene Hackman was indeed an acting legend for sure! He will be greatly missed in the new films by my family and myself. Growing up in NY I felt that I also grew up with Gene's films.
one of the greatest actors that ever lived..Hackman deserves to be placed in the highest pantheon of actors (Brando, Olivier, De Niro, Hoffman, Pacino, Hopkins etc)..so many great performances and an actor of real integrity and professionalism, yet he never really played the bullshit Hollywood game..thanks for posting
hi do u know where he is living a the moment. always wanted to meet him, never had the chance. i saw the video he's looking great for a 78yr old! plz keep me posted

Aloha, dancersok,
Thank you for your lightning-quick reply.
Because I had not watched this entire 36:55 video, I had not realized that Gene Hackman had announced his retirement.
Read on . . .

Hi, dancersok,
Perhaps I did not understand your comment. What did you mean by your comment, "You will be greatly missed . . ."?
As of today, Saturday, 15 November 2008, at 9:07 p.m. (Eastern U.S. time), Gene Hackman is, thankfully, quite alive.
Thanks.
