  • @GeckoMoria94 You sure you have drivers installed?

  • @qbking77 same issue for me too. I tried re-downloading all the drivers that are being used. Any fix for this?

  • @ellwing18 Yes... go to device manager with your phone plugged in while in the bootloader and then manually install the second driver option

  • @GeckoMoria94

"To those confused about getting a waiting for device message: Android 1.0 will appear in Device Manager AFTER you run adb reboot bootloader. Once you see that, navigate through and manually add your SAMSUNG Android Phone device driver ("Let me pick") - should be dated 11-25. This is the driver you downloaded from Samsung."

    worked for me!

  • My fstboot and other files do not have a ".exe" after them. Are they ok to use or will that brick my phone? I can boot in to boot loader and get to the "unlock boot loader" option. And does anyone know why my file is called "fast boot" not "fast boot.exe" ? Thanks for any help!

  • @8brentcooper It's fine! I just have my pc set to show the extentions.

  • So I unlocked it and now it will just stick to the google logo and reboot about every 5 seconds any advice?

  • @Matt5149

You should still be able to enter the bootloader screen by holding Volume Up + Volume Down + Power after a battery pull.

Boot to the bootloader and re-lock the bootloader (fastboot oem lock), then reboot again. The phone should still be in a boot-loop here.

Boot to the bootloader again, and unlock the bootloader (fastboot oem unlock) following the normal instructions. Let it run for as long as needs. It will take a long time, but eventually will boot normally.

  • @Matt5149 Try powering off, holding vol up and vol down and power button and then highlight recovery and then select factory reset

  • I'm pretty much new to android and rooting. I currently rooted my GN and I installed the Revolution HD. Now.. I have a question. If ICS 4.0.3 comes out officially as an update from Verizon, will I be able to update my phone right away or will I have to download the updated version of the ROM? Everything is so confusing... It will be helpful if you can post a video explaining everything, from ROMs and Kernels, to how to install each of them and flashing and everything....

  • @hDavidshon You won't get OTA updates (watch my qbking77's korner episodes.. i go over lots of this stuff)... you'll have to wait for a developer to post a flashable zip

  • will the Verizon drivers work with the GSM version?

  • wait a minute.. so I download the Samsung driver and install it? I don't quite understand. I don't know if I am doing the right thing by installing the Samsung driver, because the install is taking a very, very long time.

  • @hDavidshon Yeah just download and install the linked drivers

  • I've been following your video and everything has been working fine until I try to hold shift and right click. When I do I get the same options as if I wasn't holding shift at all and there isn't an option to open in a cmd window. I'm running Windows XP 32 bit.

  • @Matthewdeanmitchell Open up a cmd prompt and just type "cd C:\android-sdk\tools

Or cd C:\android-sdk\platform-tools (whichever foldr you're trying to point to)

  • @qbking77 When I tried that it said it couldn't recognize the internal command but everything seems to be installed correctly and the I've rechecked to the path to make sure it's right and it was. Would I have better luck running Windows 7 or is there some other way to open a cmd window from the folder?

  • @Matthewdeanmitchell Are you sure your folder is named android-sdk and its on the c drive?

  • @qbking77 yes to both

  • @Matthewdeanmitchell Hmmm... if you have time real quick and want to install teamviewer i can take a look

  • @qbking77 I wish I did but I don't, any chance I you might have time tomorrow?

  • @Matthewdeanmitchell Should be able to tomorrow night.

  • @qbking77 Alright, I'm going to start over and try again but if it doesn't work I'll see if there's a good time for you

  • Does this unlock SIM ?

  • @ChopSooyLee No, just unlocks the bootloader for rooting purposes

  • You pronounce copy like CAPPY

  • Thanks figured it out.

  • error device offline ? help

  • @sidrenwada Do you have drivers installed?

  • Sorry to be such a pain. OK downloaded driver forgot that step. I was able to boot phone from command prompt. After I put in fastboot oem unlock I get a message waiting for device?

  • My device disappears from the computer in bootmode? So there is no driver on PC

I figured out how to boot from the command prompt but the phone just did a reboot back to regular mode. I then put phone manually into boot mode when I press fastboot oem it says waiting for device?

  • @calraisin29 Try installing the second drivers... go to device manager, find your gnexus (have it plugged in) and do a driver update, but manually select the other drivers

  • I have a new Galaxy Nexus and I tried to follow your video. I have the flashboot.exe on my computer .

I am using windows 7 64bit when I right click on fashboot.exe I do not get the option to open the cmd window. I tried putting in the file manually but it does not seem to want to read it.

I also got the fastboot.exe file from a sdk kit on the internet. So it is in a SDK file in my C drive

  • @qbking77 thanks man! excellent tutorial.

  • @fernwoodnation You are very welcome!

  • in my cmd it is stuck at saying waiting for device an cannot find it. any helpÉ

  • @markpaisley8899 Are you sure you have drivers installed?

  • I downloaded everything and followed the other video about installing the sdk. Now that i tried the command i get error:device not found. I need help :(

  • @SuperMario03 Are you sure you installed the drivers?

  • @haiti1800 Try running it again

  • I've seen some other issues with this, but in the command prompt window, it's saying the device isn't found. Any ideas as to what's causing this, I've downloaded both of the different drivers.

  • @DGAFDAWSON I sorter out my issue, it was a file saved in the wrong location

  • Comment removed

  • So when I type "adb reboot bootloader" into the command prompt it shows the error "more than one device and emulator". Any suggestions? I tried restarting my phone and typing it in again as some other sites suggested, but that didn't solve the problem. Thanks!

  • @shotput55 Unplug all usb connections except your phone and keyboard and mouse

  • Dude, awesome video. Thanks!

  • Hello after I type "adb reboot bootloader" it goes to the start screen with the android robot laying down but then i try typing in fastboot oem unlock it just says waiting for your device and it doesnt do anything else what can be wrong with this? please help thank you

  • @MrGlen818 Are you sure your cmd prompt is pointed to where you put that fastboot file?

  • @qbking77 Hello thank you for the fast reply but i already figured it out yes everything was correct except i had to go to device manager and update the android driver and i clicked on pick one from a list and then i clicked on the samsung driver and then it worked

  • @MrGlen818 Awesome, glad you got it!

  • my galaxy nexus wont reboot after i rooted the phone please help!!

  • @jaelsabeh how do you do a hard reset from the rooted phone?

  • @jaelsabeh Go into recovery and wipe data

  • i am getting waiting for device message too. It would be nice if you can do a video on how to resolve the waiting for device issue. thanks.

  • awesome guide, very detailed and complete.

  • Hey when I am trying to do this and I have it at the bootloader screen where it says start but when i press the fastboot oem unlocker it says waiting for device and the screen still stays in the bootloader

  • @cmoney0619 Unplug and replug in... start over.. re install drivers.. try different usb ports

  • @cmoney0619 There is a huge confusion on this, and I ran into the same problem, but I solved it. Here's what you do.

    1. Download the Samsung drive provided in the droid-life link.

    2. Open the command prompt, run the adb reboot reloader. STOP at this point.

    3. Open up your device manager (Start -> right-click Computer -> select MANAGE and click device manager on the left)

    4. Look for Android 1.0, it will have a yellow exclamation point next to it.

  • @viperdout 5. Right click, update drivers, and choose to search from the folder where the driver is located.

    6. It will search and install.

    7. Reboot your phone by pressing the power button, and then do the adb reboot and fastboot oem unlock, it will work.

  • @viperdout Yes thats the solution!! thank you very very muc!! for Android 1.0 you have to select the same driver from the list as the galaxy nexus driver..

  • Thanks for the help,PDAnet did the job.

  • The phone stuck in the bootloader mode.

  • LOL,after last step unlocking bootloader { bastboot oem unlock} it is said{ waiting for device}

  • I installed the driver 3 times. In cmd when i type { adb devices} it show device #.In my knowledge the comp communicate with the phone. Also i can go to bootloader by typing{ adb bootloader reboot}.I am stuck there.Thanks.

  • @2mifax Okay.. now follow the video to unlock the bootloader

  • I have GSM model, after last step unlocking bootloader { bastboot oem unlock} in cmd said waiting for the devices and stuck there. What could be the problem?

  • @2mifax Are you sure you have drivers installed?

  • @qbking77 where can i find the correct drivers?

  • By unlock do you mean i can change carries and not have Verizon?

  • @thatpretty09 No, by unlock I mean unlock the bootloader so you can install a custom recovery and root your phone.

  • error device not found gsm nexus when testing adb reboot bootloader, think it has to do with the drivers, gonna try to find a working one

  • @adrianisen Let me know if you can't get it. I'll gladly help

  • looks the exact same as the gsm version to me

  • @troyrogers007 Thanks for letting me know.. I'm looking into if this method works for the GSM version.... I've only tested it on the CDMA version

  • @troyrogers007 Okay, it does work for the GSM model

  • 3rd

  • will this work for gsm nexus yakju?

  • @adrianisen cool adrianisen
