I really like the SX40IS. However, the rolling shutter is shockingly bad. Its the only thing holding me back from buying it. Well that and the lack of a dedicated manual focus control. Great camera all the same.

I just got myself an S95 which you can now find for under £200 on ebay or amazon (bargain). Tbh the extra features doesn't justify its near £400 cost. If I were you I would just get myself a cheap S95 which is still brilliant in every way and/or wait for the S105.

I bought it 4 days after it was released and the morning before I went to Taylor Swift concert. Since it is not a DSLR, it was allowed to be used in a concert. Quality is awesome for a Digital P&S camera.

The S100 looks like a camera for me.. But its 429$ dollars.. So im thinking to get this camera or the fujifilm X10 (which has a optical viewfinder a manual zoom, 30 frames per second full HD which this one omly has 24 frames per second and it has a larger 2/3 CMOS sensor..

The SX40 provides a 35x zoom which is much CHEAPER than buying even an DSLR itself. It's size and lens range gives it greater versatility in one camera body than say a larger DSLR with lenses that wont have a 35X zoom. That being said, the 60D and 550D have better sensors and have the ability to have higher QUALITY lenses that give a better image quality (for large size and higher price). the SX40 is still a compact and will just have = or slightly better compact camera quality pictures.

What is better the S95 with a CCD sensor or the S100 with a CMOS sensor?

@MrChelove CCD is better for video, because you dont get rolling shutter with that type of sensor. A CMOS sensor is more sensitive to light.

@goldenboi24k Rebel's not really what I'm looking for. I've got the SX20IS right now, I use it mostly for hobbyist football photography. I'm not special enough to get on the field, so I have to have a great zoom.
